About Assam University, Silchar.
Placements: I am studying in Agriculture engineering. The package is not so good but it is average. Top companies are Mahendra, TCS, Tata, and many more. Approximately 70% of students got internships off-campus. There are so many students in my course approximately 60. As I am first-year student I do not have any idea about top roles offered.
Infrastructure: Hostel is good. Food is also good as compared to living in PGs or rental rooms. Infrastructure is not so good but this course is good I think. Classrooms have Wi-Fi and there are so many labs as compared to so many central universities.
Faculty: Teachers are good and experienced. All have experience of more than 5 years. The course curriculum is relevant because it is central government college and has qualified teachers. Semester exam is moderate, but the grading in exam is so hard.
Other: There are many fests and events in this college. There is so much crowd that we cannot accept but it is real. It is a central government college.

Assam University, Silchar offers a peaceful campus with good infrastructure.
Placements: In 2023, 97 students from undergraduate courses and 500 students from postgraduate courses were placed. The overall placement percentage varies by department. The highest package: INR 10 LPA for postgraduate courses. Average package: INR 3-4.5 LPA across most courses.
Infrastructure: Assam University, Silchar, offers a range of facilities to support the academic and extracurricular development of its students: a well-equipped central library, Rabindra Library, with over 147,000 books, e-resources, and a digital section with access to online journals and databases. Wi-Fi-enabled campus with robust internet connectivity. Separate accommodation for boys and girls, with five boys' hostels and six girls' hostels. An on-campus health center with OPD services, an ambulance, and basic diagnostic facilities like X-ray, ECG, and pathological tests. Free medicine (based on stock) and medical insurance coverage for students.
Faculty: The teachers at Assam University are considered well-qualified and knowledgeable. They are approachable and provide clarity in their teaching. However, some reviews mention political involvement among faculty that occasionally affects the academic environment. Semester exams are described as moderately challenging but manageable with regular study. The pass percentage is reported high, especially when students regularly attend classes.
Other: Students often choose courses at Assam University for affordable fees, diverse program offerings, and the chance to learn under experienced faculty. Fields like business administration and computer science are popular for their placement opportunities. Campus and Connectivity: Scenic surroundings with a serene environment. The campus is somewhat remote, but connectivity is gradually improving through local transport. Scholarships: Scholarships are available for students from economically weaker sections and those with excellent academic records.

If you have any other options think thrice before going here.
Placements: Very poor placement. No one in my batch got placement. The rate of placement might not even be 10 percent. Placement cell is almost dead especially for School of engineering of the university. I have heard other MBA depth has quite good placements but m not sure about that also. Doubtful.
Infrastructure: Hostels are not livable at times. There are monkeys, snakes, and big lizards (okay, I was fine with it as the whole campus is covered in greenery, and the views you get sometimes are surreal, but still, you’ve got to ensure some safety for students and their belongings). The monkeys used to enter rooms through windows even if you had closed them; they broke the water pipelines so many times I don't even remember. I have seen the waste of water even after there was a shortage. The mess was always a mess. Overall, there was no proper Wi-Fi, water, food, safety, or electricity.
Faculty: The faculty of the Department of Agricultural Engineering is good and knowledgeable. The curriculum was average, with a lack of practical classes. The study materials provided by teachers were sufficient to prepare for exams. The exams were mostly easy. I can't say the same for CSE and ECE.

Nothing is too good; everything is bad here.
Placements: The placement rate is very low, with the highest package being 6 LPA and the lowest 2 LPA. Mahindra is among the top recruiting companies. 100% of students get internships. The top roles offered are Agricultural Engineer, Food Inspector, and Farm Machinery Trainee. The overall placement system is very bad.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not so good; most of the equipment does not work, and they don’t improve the infrastructure even after charging a high fee for the course. Also, the hostel mess is very bad, and the electricity is very inconsistent. The generator service is also poor.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified, but not all are student-friendly. They do not make the students industry-ready. The exams are pretty difficult for some students and very easy for others, as they can cheat very easily. Some students study hard but score less than those who cheat.
Other: I thought it was good, but after joining, it feels like a waste of money and time to do this course.

Engineering in University.
Placements: Very few students were placed. The placement opportunities in recent years have declined rapidly in this specific department. Not much initiative is taken from the side of the department to get the students placed. It's like the students have to search for placements themselves. Very few students are placed, and that too in not-so-good companies.
Infrastructure: There's Wi-Fi available 24/7 with functional smart classrooms, a central library, and labs. However, the quality of the food served in the hostel is very poor. As a central university, the university must look into providing good food and better facilities to the students.
Faculty: There are mostly assistant professors available in the department, and they are very few in number. Most classes are taken by the guest faculty, who can barely explain much in depth. The course curriculum is quite relevant, though, but still, the students are not made industry-ready by the department. They lack basic skills.
