If you are not thinking about placement then go for it.
Placements: Department does not call companies or other institutions for the campus placement. So if you are going to pursue the master degree in Environmental Science from Banaras Hindu University Institute of Science department of botany don't even think about the placement.
Infrastructure: Classroom facility is good, experienced teachers. Labs are average, you can do the experiment easily. Library facility is very good. Wi-Fi is also very good. Hostel facility is good almost Clean hostels, the garden are well decorated with plants. Canteen and mess facility is good. You can also take part in the games.
Faculty: Teachers are very experienced and knowledgeable they teach you well and complete the syllabus on time and also they are very helpful. Their laboratory facility is good so they teach you how to work in the laboratory. Most of the experiment you can do which are in your syllabus.

Real experiences with the system of a government university.
Placements: Not so good. 8 students got selected out of 28 at 25000 per month as highest and the lowest at 12,000. Off campus, Ramkee Waste Management, Pradhan Rural Development took students. Nothing but recommendation letter was given from the college. The stipend was nil.
Infrastructure: Worst labs, a good infrastructure of the college but the department building was not so good. The library was fine with few books, the medical facility was good, classrooms were okay but the lab wasn't. The food is good, hostel rooms are good but facilities were inconsistent.
Faculty: The faculty is average. They were okay with the subject but not updated and active with other opportunities and exams. Some of the faculty members were helpful, the faculty is knowledgeable. Videos, blackboard and slides were there. We did go for a 6-month project. Student to faculty ration was 10: The curriculum was helpful and interesting although teaching techniques were boring.

I am dissatisfied with the faculty and the management system but there is good infrastructure
Placements: There is a placement cell but they only provide facilities to main campus student, which is not helpful to us. From our faculty members, some of the companies are invited for the placement of the student. For that also, we don't get financial support. There are internships for the student without any stipend offered.
Infrastructure: In RGSC, BHU, there is a good infrastructure, library, classroom and stadium. But in our department, there is no proper laboratory and also medical facilities, although this campus is very large than the main campus of BHU with the beauty of nature and wildlife, and proper security facilities. Hostel facilities are also very good great infrastructure. There is no canteen in the girls' hostel but very good food available in the hostel mess.
Faculty: When I talk about my faculty members, it is better to talk less because there are only 3 teachers available to teach 3 batches of students of our course. Remaining other teachers are on the main campus for their PhD scholars. When they get time, they call us to attend the class on the main campus.
Other: There is no proper laboratory for practical work, and we require more teachers. There are no medical facilities, but there are good hostel facilities, Wi-Fi facilities, a library, parks and a stadium with the beauty of the large area of nature. A nice place for nature-lovers.

Really good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: Placement is okay. 30% of the students got placed. The highest salary offered was 3 lacs, the lowest was 2.4 lacs and the average salary offered was 2.5 lacs. Just one company visited the campus last year. Roles offered to students were of post-graduate engineers. No internship was offered from the college.
Infrastructure: The facilities available on the campus are quite good. Wi-Fi with good speed, proper well-equipped labs, health center and a hospital is situated inside the campus. The library is very up to date and books can be easily issued. The ambience of the library is very apt for studying. Labs and classroom are well-equipped. The quality of food available in the canteen is appreciable and at a very reasonable price. Hostel rooms have two cupboards and a fan meant for two students in a room. I didn't face any infrastructure related issues during my tenure at the college.
Faculty: The faculty members of my department were very helpful. They were very up to date about all the competitive exams related things and current affairs related to my subjects. Teaching methods used were blackboard and chalk, through powerpoint presentations and by means of demonstrations. The student to faculty ratio was 10:1. I got industrial exposure as it was a part of my curriculum. The course curriculum was indeed very useful to me.

Average placements in 2015, not well-qualified faculty, really good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: Placements were average for our senior batch. 60% students were placed. The average salary package was 4 lakhs/annum. Ramky Enviro Engineers Ltd. and PRADAN visited the department. Environmental officer and consultant kind of roles were offered. The internships are compulsory for every student in the final year as a part of the major and minor project for the completion of course. The college provides guidance and recommendation letters to students to get a suitable internship as per the candidate's field of interest.
Infrastructure: The campus is huge and is well-equipped with all the facilities. But one flaw is that it is situated away from the town, about 20 kms away. The labs are averagely equipped. Mess and hostel facilities are nice. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Activities rooms and sports facilities are available. Yoga classes for girls are available for free.
Faculty: The faculty in the department are not well-suited for the course. The course curriculum, the degree structure and the period, of course, has been changed recently, for 2016-17 batch. The new curriculum has many flaws regarding syllabus and credit system. This new curriculum is not fully justified wth the degree requirements. Industrial exposure is there through the industrial visit and compulsory internships.
Other: There is always a room for improvement in every field. If the department makes a little effort, it can come out with their best. Faculty can be improved and labs can be managed better. Fees should be reduced which is taken as special course fees (30k approx). The hostels are nice and you need not worry about the accommodation.
