Review of Central University of Jammu.
Placements: There is no placement program organised for the physics department, but some students in our senior batch got placed on their own. Many students aim for government exams like UPSC, SSC, and others who wish to continue are aiming for NET, GATE, etc. Placements are not provided.
Infrastructure: There is no separate building for the department yet. A residential quarter is converted into the department building. There isn't a good canteen either. The college hostel isn't open yet, and the hostel is too far from campus. There is no transportation facility for hostelers.
Faculty: The course has 10 semesters, involving 6 semesters of B.Sc. and 4 semesters of M.Sc. The syllabus is well-designed for each semester which also covers subjects like management, communication skills, computer programming etc. Exams are held twice per semester. Mid-semester exams have 25% weightage, and end-term exams have 50% weightage. The passing criteria for both is a minimum of 50% marks, and the rest of the 25% marks in overall percentage is evaluated over assignments and other activities.

There are good basic facilities, but they are only for students who are hardworking.
Placements: The chances of getting placements based only on the degree are very low. So, students need to work hard, especially proceeding to prepare for national-level exams like GATE, NET or other international exams to become worthy. However, the teaching is above average, and students can get proper guidance to fulfil their criteria in order to get a dream job. Students can get internships in nearby local industries, but in order to be eligible for top-rated PSUs and other good private firms, GATE or NET scores are required.
Infrastructure: The hostels don't have a Wi-Fi facility, but the campus is equipped with a highly functional Wi-Fi facility. Open labs are available with internet LAN. Classrooms have Wi-Fi and basic support but are not comparable to classrooms that are regarded as the best. Even there are some classrooms that have a temporary infrastructure. The library is considered as good with a good catalog of magazines and books arriving on a daily basis. Book exhibition is also arranged once every year under normal circumstances. The food available in the mess is third class and not worthy. I would suggest that if students depend on themselves for food, it would be great. The canteen lacks basic eateries, but it is fine for general purposes. Medical facilities are also average. Our college lacks in sports. There are no playgrounds, and in the name of sports, only table tennis is available, which is also in a state of total demolition.
Faculty: Teachers here are helpful, and this also depends on the department concerned. There are some departments where proper guidance is not available to students. Students have to prepare on their own. Teachers simply don't care for students and keep their high standards. These teachers have a habit of harassing students. Even the administration does not control them. Other departments are very good, and teachers work for the welfare of students.
Other: Our university has value for money as the course I chose truly provided me insights, but it depends on students whether they are able to grasp them or not. I would love it if experimental things were included properly. Other extracurricular activities are available like there are some departments with a good number of fairs and fests while some departments are least developed.
