My college life was so good, I enjoyed it with great passion.
Placements: In our Electrical Engineering course at IIT Jammu, around 80% of students were placed. The highest package offered was 35 LPA, the lowest was 8 LPA, and the average package was 15 LPA. Top recruiting companies included Tata Power, L&T, and Siemens. Nearly 70% of students got internships in companies like Tata Steel, Schneider Electric, and BHEL. The top roles offered were Design Engineer, Electrical Consultant, and Project Manager.
Infrastructure: The department has modern labs, smart classrooms, a well-stocked library, and strong Wi-Fi connectivity. Hostels are clean with spacious rooms and good Wi-Fi. The mess food is decent with multiple options, and the canteen serves snacks. Medical facilities are available, and there are grounds for cricket, football, and indoor games.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified, knowledgeable, and supportive. The curriculum is updated and industry-relevant, with a focus on practical learning. Exams are moderately difficult but manageable with regular study. The pass percentage is above 85%, showing a fair evaluation process.
Other: I chose Electrical Engineering because I am passionate about circuits, power systems, and renewable energy. The best thing about the course is the practical learning through advanced labs and industry projects. However, adding more electives subjects and industrial training opportunities would make it better. IIT Jammu hosts vibrant events and fests that bring the campus to life. The campus crowd is friendly and diverse, with a focus on teamwork. Connectivity to the city is improving, and the surroundings are peaceful. Scholarships are available for deserving students, and extracurricular activities, including sports and clubs, provide a good balance to academics.

Weather and studies are excellent.
Placements: Till now, 70% of students from our branch are placed. MediaTech is the top recruiting company. Nearly 90% of students have secured internships. The highest package offered till now is 47 LPA. Top roles are Electrical Engineer, Marine Engineer, and Business Analyst. That’s all about our college.
Infrastructure: Our college has excellent hostels for boys, with AC in single rooms with a single person. Labs are also good. Food in the mess is good, and the canteens are also good enough. Classrooms are one of the best I have ever seen. It is fully high-tech and pleasant for studies.
Faculty: Faculty here are excellent, both for Electrical and other departments too. It is a great opportunity to learn from them. Curriculum is very good. There is a stress-free and happy environment. Faculty members are more interactive with the students at any time. It is a great opportunity to study here.

As this is a new IIT, the infrastructure is new, and the equipment is well-advanced.
Placements: Around 20 percent of students in my branch get placement through campus. The highest package was 20 lakhs, the lowest placement was 4 lakhs, and the average package is around 7-9 lakhs in my course. The top recruiting company last year was Byju's. Around 10 percent of students received internships in different sectors, including tech companies and core industries.
Infrastructure: Our campus is operating on 35 acres right now, and it is expanding slowly. We have a very small library here, which is just adequate. The campus is fully equipped with WiFi. The hostels are not very impressive but are good enough. The mess food is the worst. We have sports facilities for badminton, athletics, football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, a pool table, gym, etc. We have a medical unit also.
Faculty: Some of the professors are good and help students after the lecture too, but some of the professors are not experienced enough to teach, and their behavior is also poor. The course curriculum is very relevant and is similar to other IITs. You can get a very good CGPA with only minimal effort, but there is a subject called calculus which requires a lot of effort to pass.

My great experience at IIT Jammu- A civil engineering student's perspective.
Placements: In my Civil Engineering course at IIT Jammu, around 60-70% of students got placed. The highest salary package offered is about 12 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is around 4 LPA. The average salary package offered ranges from 6 LPA - 7 LPA. Some top recruiting companies are L&T, Tata Projects, and GMR Group. Around 50-60% of students got internships in companies like NHPC, PWD, and some construction firms. Top roles offered are site engineer, structural engineer, and project management trainee.
Infrastructure: Our Civil Engineering department at IIT Jammu has good facilities like Wi-Fi, well-equipped labs, spacious classrooms, and a good library with many books. Hostel facilities are decent with clean rooms and regular maintenance. The food served in the mess is average, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Canteen offers snacks and quick meals. Medical facilities include a health center with basic care. For sports, we have grounds for cricket, football, and courts for badminton and basketball.
Faculty: Teachers in our Civil Engineering course at IIT Jammu are helpful, well-qualified, and knowledgeable. They explain concepts clearly and support students with doubts. Teaching quality is good, with a mixture of theory and practical learning. The course curriculum is relevant and covers industry-needed topics. But students need extra effort to be fully job-ready. Semester exams are moderate to tough, requiring regular study. The pass percentage is high, around 85-90%, so most students clear exams.
Other: Our Civil Engineering batch at IIT Jammu has around 30-40 students. I chose this course because of my interest in construction and design. The best part of this course is the practical learning through labs and site visits. However, more industry exposure would be helpful. Campus has fun fests, a friendly crowd, and decent connectivity. The surroundings are peaceful, and scholarships are available. Hostel facilities are good, and extracurricular activities like sports and clubs keep us engaged. The mess food is average but manageable. Overall, the campus provides a good environment for learning and growth.

5Placements4Infrastructure3Faculty3Crowd & Campus Life4Value for Money
An Enriching Journey with Excellent Facilities, Supportive Faculty, and Great Opportunities.
Placements: I am Vaka Avinash, a final-year Chemical Engineering student at IIT Jammu. I got placed in Meesho as a Business Analyst. Around 80% of students from my course were placed. The highest package offered was ?25 LPA, the lowest was ?6 LPA, and the average was ?12 LPA. Top recruiters included Meesho, Reliance, and Vedanta. About 70% of students got internships in companies like ONGC, Reliance, and Tata Steel. The top roles offered were Process Engineer, Data Analyst, and Business Analyst.
Infrastructure: Our Chemical Engineering department at IIT Jammu has modern classrooms with projectors, well-equipped labs, a library with a good collection of books, and campus-wide Wi-Fi. The hostel facilities are clean and well-maintained, with spacious rooms and 24/7 Wi-Fi. The mess offers decent food with a variety of options, and the canteen serves snacks and beverages. Medical facilities include an on-campus health center with basic care. Sports facilities are excellent, with grounds for cricket, football, and courts for indoor games.
Faculty: The teachers in our Chemical Engineering department are highly qualified, knowledgeable, and supportive. The teaching quality is good, with a focus on both theory and practical applications. The course curriculum is relevant and includes industry-oriented topics, making students job-ready. Semester exams are moderate challenging, but regular study and practice can help students perform well. The pass percentage is usually around 95%, showing that most students are able to clear the exams without much difficult.
Other: I chose Chemical Engineering because it combines problem-solving with real-world applications in industries like energy and manufacturing. The best things about the course are the hands-on lab work and the wide career opportunities. I wish there was more focus on modern software tools and interdisciplinary projects. Our campus hosts fun events and fests, and the crowd is diverse and friendly. Connectivity is improving, and the surroundings are peaceful. Scholarships and extracurricular, like clubs and sports, add to the vibrant campus life.

2.8
2Placements3Infrastructure3Faculty3Crowd & Campus Life3Value for Money
An emerging 3rd-generation IIT with a good future.
Placements: Placements are average compared to other IITs. CSE placements are excellent, with almost all students securing good packages. However, lower branches face some challenges with placements, which is a concern for students. Placement cell is working efficiently to address these issues.
Infrastructure: Hostel provides good basic facilities with very few issues. Lecture halls are well-equipped with modern technologies. Vending machines for snacks are available at various locations. However, the lack of sports grounds is a concern, as there is no cricket ground at present. A new sports complex is currently under construction.
Faculty: Faculty members are good, and the curriculum is manageable. However, the exam schedule is a bit tight, with class tests held before the midterm and end-semester exams. Calculus exams in the first semester are particularly challenging. Achieving an 8 CGPA in the first year is quite difficult.
