Enlightenment filled 4 years.

Placements: Overall, placements were decent for the entire batch. The overall placements were around 60% for CS branch. The placements are around 80-85% for the previous batch. I can remember the least package which was offered was 3 lakhs per annum and the highest was around 15 lakhs per annum. The companies that visited for recruitment were Microsoft, Samsung, Ibibo, HP, IBM, etc.

The most happening campus

Placements: Not much idea about the seniors but there was around 60% placement for the whole batch of around 750 B.Tech students and among which CSE branch had decent placements of around 80-85%. Mechanical had a placement stat of around 70% with close to 90 students placed. There were a plethora of companies such as Maruti Suzuki, ACC, Daimler, Tata Motors, BPCL, Hero Moto Corp some of which are just for the mechanical branch. I was selected for Hero through the campus placements. ...

An overview of NIT Durgapur.

Placements: Placements are average in this college. At the starting phase (Jul-Aug), high paying companies like Amazon, Microsoft, De Shaw, etc come for placement and some of them for internships. At an average, 3 people are selected by these companies for placements/internships. The highest package for placement was 29 LPA (De Shaw) and 27 LPA (Amazon on campus) and for internships, it was 1 lakh per month (De Shaw summer intern). NIT, Durgapur: you are never alone to face the problems.

Placements: Placements of this college are 50-60%. The highest package offered has been by amazon i.e. 27.5 LPA followed by Microsoft i.e. 18 LPA and then by Drishti Soft i.e. 16.8 LPA. These are for non-core streams i.e. IT, CSE and ECE. This year (2016) Qualcomm offered 14 LPA but didn't recruit any of the students. For core branches, companies like Maruti Suzuki, L&T, Infosys, IBM, Saint Gobain, NXP Semiconductors, CGI, Tata Motors, PwC, JSW Cement, etc. have come for recruitment. For management jobs, th...

Good faculty and infrastructure, but bad placements and laboratories.

Placements: The placements in my department can be divided into these fields: 1) IT jobs: These are the IT companies and mass recruiters in which we can sit for the placements, and 50% of the students were placed in this sector. 2) Financial companies: Every 3-5 students are placed in the financial companies from our department, like in Mu Sigma. 2) Others: These are teaching companies like Pradhan and Avanti, 3-6 students from our department are selected in these companies. 4) BT companies: No placements ...

It is one of the best places to learn and grow. The college campus life is very good with year round festivals and various cultural social and technical activities. The faculty here is not too good, when it comes to classroom teaching, but if you approach them personally they do take an interest in you. The infrastructure is still improving. While on campus, you will get an excellent internet speed. All hostel rooms are provided with LAN ports. New hostels have Wi-Fi facilities too. There are on...

These 4 years will be missed forever. The memories will be cherished best shared with somebody. Metallurgy department here is the best amongst all the NIT's. The professors take special care in nurturing the students. There are shopping complex inside. The college social is like the second Durga puja for all the students as it continues for four days.

One of its kind. I went there as a boy and left it as a kid. It was the best transformation of my life. Given a chance I would surely relive those four years again. The Faculty was excellent and the research facilities were at par as compared to any national level universities like IIT and IISC. Anyone who wants to make their life extraordinary should think of it as a first step at NIT - D. It taught me to dream and shaped me into the person I am today.

Average placements and campus. Much scope of growth depending on individual. Activities all-year-round. Balanced work and party life. Descent hostels, improving technology, easy course and markings, less pressure for studies, sometimes the course is irrelevant. Information technology and Computer Science being the best streams, both faculty and placement wise.

Students from different communities across India come to join this college. Some face difficulty to cope with the mixed culture and remain alienated. The study and exam procedure is out dated. Nothing is updated. Old hostels are in a very pathetic condition for the students to live. But water and electricity was never a problem. Hostel food has been a problem for most of the students. There has been an incident with the hospital authorities but that has been resolved. I have got a feedback about...

The college is not a great one, but a decent one. Speaking about IT in particular, we have very friendly and interactive teachers who are happy to help you grow and prosper in your field of interest. Infrastructure is not one of its stronghold, but is fairly good to fulfil the basic requirements of students. There is a good environment for extra-curricular activities as well, with the presence of a lot of clubs to provide platforms to students for enhancing their skills and interests, like robo...

If you are looking for some good facilities and infrastructure then please don't go to this college. And yes computer science in the college is one of the best branches of the college.

I have learned many thing extra from this college when compare to other colleges. Has one of best placement records. The bad: administration sucks, but soon the director will be changed and we hope to get it back on the track. Mess food is the worst.

NIT Durgapur is one of the oldest among Nit’s. The institute is well known for its placement records and the overall ranking in India. Location of the campus is also close to the market and malls. Campus infrastructure is not well maintained although new buildings are made continuously but are not in use, same for the academic building which resembles more of a maze. The placements records for core branches is excellent in terms of both percentage and the stipend offered. NITD is visited by well...
