I am satisfied with the provisions.
Placements: Tara Consultancy Service and various research companies were the top recruiting companies. Almost 40% of the students got placed in our course. The highest salary package offered was 12 LPA in the beginning. Roles like analyst management, etc., were offered to students.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are well-maintained with updated libraries, well-painted classrooms. Wi-Fi is available here. Computer labs are well-furnished with proper seating arrangements. Hostel mess is good, and the food is available 24 hours in the mess. There is also a canteen.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are helpful, well-qualified. They are completely updated with the recent trends in the economy. The course curriculum is relevant enough for masters level with the knowledge of various software, which might help students in their job field.
Other: The college surroundings are well-attractive for students.

It is a good college for students.
Placements: The college provides placement opportunities. Some of our seniors got placed. The highest salary package offered was 4-5 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was 1-2 LPA. Companies like HDFC and IBM visited our college for placements. Roles related to computer assistance were more offered. There is a placement cell in our college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good. There are proper facilities for students. The food served is not proper. There are no proper seating arrangements for students in the library. There is no air-conditioner available in USOL department which is also part of Panjab University. Wi-Fi access is not provided to all students.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are very helpful. They are well qualified and knowledgeable. They teach through proper PPTs as visual things have more effect on our learnings. I didn't get any industry exposure. The course curriculum was helpful for future use.
Other: Fest is organised every year with proper security.

Panjab University is a place to rejoice.
Placements: There is an active placement cell for the economics department. However, due to lack of infrastructure, placements in the college are not that good. Companies like TCS and Xceedence from Gurgaon visit the college for placements. They only conduct a written test and then a group discussion round, followed by a personal interview. However, the final number of students getting call letters is relatively low as compared to the total number of students in that particular batch. There are no internships provided by the department. They circulate the brochure if there are any opportunities, but no such firm efforts are made on this front. The college is really helpful, and you will get guidance, but you have to be on your own at the end.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are old but spacious and airy enough to accommodate maximum students. The department library is decently equipped with the required books. However, the main attraction is the AC Joshi library where students can sit and study 24*7 without any disturbance. There are many sports grounds in PU, and they are well-maintained. The hostels are old, but there are new ones that are recently constructed. The main thing is that the food they provide is healthy and hygienic. However, the law auditorium is also perfect for any event, be it a national event or departmental freshers party or farewell party.
Faculty: The course curriculum is well-designed to enhance the knowledge of students in that subject matter. However, it is not in link with the present times. It lacks practicality and is definitely not job-oriented. It was designed earlier, and they've failed to review and revamp it with time. The faculty members are great and highly knowledgeable. They try their best to keep students in touch with the present times. However, industry exposure provided is completely nill. Students can make a career in the research field, but a career in the private industry is not on the cards if you plan to be here.

Highly satisfied with the college in all aspects.
Placements: Placements are conducted for students pursuing their master's degree, and around 87% of students get placed every year. The highest salary package offered is 5 LPA and the lowest is Rs. 10,000 per month. Managerial roles are offered to students. Internships are done by 100% of the students because it is compulsory to get the degree.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is amazing and is of A class. It has all the basic facilities like well-equipped classrooms, clean campus, good and healthy food in the canteen, and spacious hostel rooms along with playgrounds for activities. I have not faced any infrastructure related issues during my tenure.
Faculty: Teachers are very supportive in all aspects. They are highly educated and qualified with great industry experience. Presentations and books are used in order to teach students. Industry exposure is available through internships which are done for 3-6 months, and there are industrial visits every month.

The course curriculum is outdated, and only a handful of teachers have subject knowledge.
Placements: About 2 out of 30 students from our class got placed. Overall, I am not sure, but the placement percentage is pretty low. Our college did not aid anyone for an internship. Students had to seek an internship independently.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college was above average. The college does not provide Wi-Fi facility. The hostel rooms were pretty cramped up. The food served was good. Students can play different sports as they like. I don't know about the medical facilities. Overall, the college provides above average facilities.
Faculty: Only a handful of the teachers were helpful. A lot of them were not teaching subjects, but they had doctorate degrees. They had no idea what they were teaching. Some core and mathematical subjects like econometrics were given to teachers who had little knowledge. They taught it like it was theory.

Q:   Is M.Sc. at Panjab University worth the investment?

    A:
    {Source: M.Sc. students & alumni}

Based on the reviews and feedback from current students and alumni, here's an analysis of whether an M.Sc. degree from Panjab University is worth the investment:

    Academics and Faculty

    * The faculty members are generally considered helpful, experienced, and knowledgeable in their respective fields.
    * The course curriculum is relevant and covers both theoretical and practical aspects of the subject.
    * Some students mentioned that the professors could be more punctual and humble.

    Infrastructure and Facilities

    * The university has modern facilities, including Wi-Fi, libraries, and well-equipped labs.
    * The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, and the libraries have a wide range of book collections.
    * However, some students pointed out that the hostel facilities could be improved.

    Career Prospects and Placements

    * Unfortunately, placements for M.Sc. students are limited, especially in the biophysics, biochemistry, and microbiology departments.
    * Most students reported having to rely on self-initiated efforts to secure internships or employment opportunities.
    * Some companies may visit the campus for recruitments, but these are rare.

    Other Aspects

    * Campus life is lively, with regular cultural fests and events organized by the university.
    * Student organizations and clubs cater to various interests, fostering a sense of community.
    * However, some students felt that the emphasis on education over extracurricular activities could be improved.

In conclusion, while Panjab University offers a strong educational foundation and supportive faculty, the career prospects and placement opportunities for M.Sc. students are somewhat limited. Therefore, students considering investing in an M.Sc. programme at Panjab University must weigh the pros and cons carefully, taking into account their individual goals and aspirations.

    Here are some key takeaways:

    * Strong academics and faculty support
    * Limited career prospects and placement opportunities
    * Good infrastructure and facilities
    * Vibrant campus life with regular events and activities

Q:   Is M.A. at Panjab University worth the investment?

    A:
    {Source: M.A. students & alumni}

After analyzing the feedback from current students and alumni, here's a summary of the pros and cons:

    Pros:

    * Good faculty: Many students praised the professors' qualifications, knowledge, and approachability.
    * Well-structured course curriculum: The curriculum is relevant, and students appreciate the theoretical foundations.
    * Infrastructure and amenities: The campus is well-maintained, with decent facilities, including a library, gym, and recreational spaces.
    * Exposure to various activities: The university offers various extracurricular activities, festivals, and events, allowing students to explore their interests.

    Cons:

    * Placement record: The placement rate is relatively low, and many students rely on self-effort or pursuing higher education (e.g., NET or Ph.D.) for career advancement.
    * Limited industry connections: The university's ties with industries seem limited, resulting in fewer job opportunities for students.
    * Research-oriented internships: While some internships are available, they tend to be research-focused rather than corporate-driven, limiting practical experience.
    * Academic intensity: Some students felt that the course load was too heavy, with little scope for hands-on learning or industry application.

In conclusion, whether M.A. at Panjab University is worth the investment depends on individual goals and expectations. For those seeking a strong academic foundation and theoretical knowledge, the university seems suitable. However, for those looking for direct industry exposure, job guarantees, or extensive career opportunities, they may need to supplement their degree with additional efforts or consider alternative options.

Recommendation: If you're considering the M.A. programme at Panjab University, weigh the pros and cons carefully, focusing on your academic and career aspirations. Consider networking with faculty and peers, exploring extracurricular activities, and developing transferable skills to enhance your prospects.
