Great college by infrastructure, placements and college life and the faculty.
Placements: Numerous companies come to our college for different roles, both teaching and non-teaching. They offer a range of salaries and benefits. The highest salary offered was around 36 lakhs per annum. Companies also come for internships as well as full-time opportunities. The minimum stipend for internships is 12,000 per month, and the maximum is 1,00,000 per month. Almost every company that you've ever heard of comes for placements at our college. To get a placement, we just have to be good at what we do. The first step is usually an online assessment, which is very important because if we clear that, we will be able to sit for the interview, which is the next step.
Infrastructure: This college has one of the best infrastructures and hostels in the country. The food is delicious, and the portions are generous. The Wi-Fi is available everywhere on campus, and the library is well-stocked with an extensive collection of books.
Faculty: The teachers here are very helpful and knowledgeable. They are always willing to help us with whatever we need, and they also motivate us to do our best. The course curriculum is very relevant, and we will definitely need all of these skills in the industry. The exams are averagely difficult, but if we attend all the lectures and study the content provided by the teachers, it should be fine.
Other: I have always liked electronics, so I chose this course. There are many societies on campus that will help you do better and pursue whatever extracurricular activities you want. The annual fest is called SATurnalia, and it is very grand. Many celebrities come to perform.

A good university for everything .
Placements: Almost everyone gets placed here. Very high-paying companies visit the university for placements. The stipends for interns are also good. Every year, many startups also visit for placements, which means more opportunities.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the university is very good, and everything here is the best and up-to-date. Wi-Fi is present in most corners of the university. Almost every sport is played here, and coaches are available. Many sports events happen.
Faculty: The teachers are good, helpful, and very intelligent. The course covers everything to make a student industry-ready. There are many exams every semester, including quizzes, lab evaluations, mid-semester, and end-semester exams.

Disappointed because of the faculty recently. Placements are not good, but infrastructure is good .
Placements: Average placements recently are not nice. The top recruiters are Apple, Google, Infosys, etc. 60–70% of students were placed. The total number of students placed this year was 1770; further, 70% of students were placed and the average package was around 5 lakh to 11.09 lakh.
Infrastructure: Hostels are old. Wi-Fi is excellent and the library is amazing; it provides various facilities. There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The library is centrally air-conditioned and open 24 hours a day. There is Wi-Fi everywhere on campus .
Faculty: Exams are very difficult and the pass percentage is around 35%. The exams are difficult, with a passing percentage of 35%. People need to study a lot to pass and appear in exams. The internship scenario was not good; people have to work really hard for it.

Truth of Thapar institute of engineering and technology .
Placements: Around 75-85% students got placed last year from ECE. The highest package was around 60 Lacs and the lowest 9 Lacs. There are many top recruiting companies like Accenture, JPMC, Zomato etc. Around 50% students got interned. Senior engineer, Team lead etc. were offered in my course.
Infrastructure: Classrooms and labs are well-furnished and have modern interiors. Each class has a Projector too and library is ranked as one of the best libraries in the World. In hostels, there is an access of Wi-Fi 24X7, Rooms are air conditioned, big and clean. There is a good facility of house keeping and laundry too. The food has vast variety but menu doesn't changes regularly so it seems boring to have that continuously.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified, experienced and supportive. Teaching quality is very good if you are attending classes regularly. There are 3 types of classes (Lecture, Tutorial, Practical). The course curriculum has been updated according to the industry demand. Difficulty level of exam is quite good so one has to put in the efforts.

Should you join Thapar University or not? - A detailed review.
Placements: The placements are really average in the University. My batch is 2025 ECE and for internship itself (2 months) that occurs in the summer after 3rd year, there were only 2-3 companies that targeted electronics domain. There were a total of 10 companies in which students could sit for the summer intern. Considering the placements of the previous batch, the average placement can be nearly 10 Lacs per annum but still 30% batch of 2024 is unplaced and they will be sitting with the batch of 2025 in placements increasing the competition. The top recruiting companies were Bajaj electronics, STM, Siemens, Texas instruments.
Infrastructure: Infrastructures and all the related facilities are top notch. The labs and classrooms are good. The library is considered the best in North India. There is ample amount of equipments well suited and upto the quality required along with the course that is being taught. The hostels are great too. The food is good and the committee is supportive .
Faculty: The teachers are really helpful and qualified. But the teaching can be a little better as there are some courses which require detailed explanations and there was gap with that in the course. The faculty is really qualified and helps a lot when approached. The course curriculum is relevant with the current standards and constant changes are introduce too. The semester exams can be considered of medium difficult and the pass percentage is 35%. The grading is done relatively using the bell curve scale.
Other: The course curriculum is well versed but the faculty is really average when it comes to teaching. But considering the aspect of their qualification they are really well versed and all are Ph.D. cleared and help a lot when you approach them. Exams are on time and are of appropriate medium difficult. The competition is a lot considering too many students enrolled in the same course. The fee hike policy is 10-15% every year. There are merit and merit cum means scholarship for students. There are many alumni scholarships offered too.

Apart from JEE Main, TIET also accepts CAT/XAT/CMAT/MAT/GMAT/GRE/ Thapar Entrance Test for MBA and GATE for ME/ M.Tech admission. TIET does not offer direct admission. Q:   I got 92% in PCM in 12th CBSE boards, can I get CSE in Thapar University in any round?

A:

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology is one of the top-ranked engineering colleges in India. Based on your Class 12 CBSE board exam scores, you have a good chance of getting admission into Thapar University for Computer Science Engineering. However, admission to Thapar University is based on multiple factors, such as JEE Mains scores, the Class 12 board exam scores, and the rank obtained in the online test conducted by the university. The university also has a counseling process, which takes into account all these factors and determines the eligibility of the candidate for admission to the college. In general, the cutoff rank for admission to Thapar University for CSE varies every year based on the total number of applicants and the performance of the candidates in the admission process. Therefore, it is difficult to predict your chances of getting admission to Thapar University based only on your 12th board exam scores. However, with your excellent Class 12 board exam scores, you have a good chance of securing admission to Thapar University, provided you perform well in the online test and counseling process.

Q:   What is the effectiveness of the placement cell for M.Sc. programs at Thapar University?

A:
{Source: M.Sc. students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for M.Sc. Programs at Thapar University

Based on student reviews, here's what we found:

* Decent Placements: While students from B.Tech courses may have more opportunities, biotechnology students still receive offers from organizations visiting campus.
* Internship Opportunities: In addition to job placements, internships are also provided on-campus for M.Sc. students.
* Fewer Job Opportunities in Biotechnology: As biotechnology is an emerging field, there are limited job opportunities in India, which affects placement rates for biotechnology students.

In summary, while the placement cell seems to be doing its part in providing internship and job opportunities, the number of placements may vary depending on the programme (B.Tech vs. M.Sc.). Biotechnology students may face fewer job prospects due to the industry's relatively small size in India.

It's possible to get admission at Thapar University, based only on board marks as 50% of the seats, admission is through JEE Main. While for the other 50%, admission is done based on the 10+2 score. In order to get admission based on merit, you need to score above 70% in 10+2.
