Absolutely a very good place for knowledge.
Placements: Placement stats are quite good in our college, of course, in my course also, which is 76.92% in 48 students, which is quite good. Coming to packages, the highest package offered for my course is 38 LPA and the least is 6 LPA. The average package is around 13 LPA, which is decent. Coming to top recruiting companies, Reliance, Sun Petrochemicals, Chevron, etc. Internships are decent, but it is hard to get an internship in my field. Some got internships in non-core roles, and top roles offered are process engineer, project engineer, product engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: Since it is an old college, completing its centenary in 2026, some old hostels are average, but others are very good. Our college library is the second-largest technical library in the world, and 24-hour Wi-Fi is available. Classrooms are quite good, and labs are conducted in a very strict way. All basic needs are available in our college grounds, including a medical center and canteen.
Faculty: Teachers are very friendly and teach well. Their teaching style is a bit different compared to others, and there are 14 weeks allotted for a semester, which is enough to complete the syllabus and study. Coming to exams, some are very tough and some are a bit easy, depending on the professor. Exams will be like that, and the pass percentage is almost 90%.
Other: I love chemical engineering, that's why I opted for this course. There is a scholarship for merit students, MCM, which offers Rs. 10,000 for a student. There are three major fests held in a year, namely Concetto (tech fest), Srijan (cultural fest), and Parakram (sports fest). Some minor fests, namely Turbulence, Khanan, etc. Finally, college life is quite good in my college.

Needs improvement in placement.
Placements: There are approximately 45-50 students in our branch. Placement day 1: 4 students were placed and day 2: 3 students were placed. We are yet to get the further data. We see a maximum CTC of 33.57 LPA from PhonePe for an SDE role. The lowest was 13.38 LPA and the average being somewhere around 15 LPA. The most students were recruited in Meesho for an analyst role.
Infrastructure: We have a proper amount of labs and lab equipment. Wi-Fi is not accessible in classes, but it is accessible in labs, libraries, etc. The hostel has good accommodation (it is comfortable), and the facilities are also good. The mess food is sometimes not good, but still manageable. The Chemical Engineering department is located in NAC 4th floor; it is spacious and has enough facilities.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are helpful. They are really experienced and have studied at good universities, so you get mentorship for higher studies too. The course curriculum makes students industry-ready. The semester exams are comparatively easier than upper branches like CSE and ECE, etc. But still, it requires good effort to score well. Teachers usually do not fail unless you have done really poorly.
Other: I chose this course because I was getting lower branches in all IITs. Chemical Engineering is comparatively easier, so I will get enough time to pursue my interest in Computer Science. But even if someone wants to pursue higher studies, I would recommend this branch. I want the placement stats to improve. The campus life is very good, and I am satisfied with it.

A glimpse into the life at IIT Dhanbad.
Placements: Approximately all the students who sit for placements get placed with an average of 85% companies like Microsoft and Standard Chartered, Walmart hire for roles like SDE, and companies like Reliance, Chevron, and GAIL hire for roles related to core industry. Many consulting companies also offer packages like 40 LPA offers for SDE roles, with the average package being around 15 LPA and the lowest being around 6-7 LPA.
Infrastructure: The hostel here has a very special naming sequence based on precious stones. Hostels provide a home far away from home with countless memories. The food is of decent quality, with canteens in each hostel of brands like Amul and Nescafe, and the entire campus is free Wi-Fi equipped.
Faculty: The curriculum is roughly the same as every IIT with qualified faculty members. Students generally achieve decent grades without any difficulties. One advise is not to compare your grade and marks with other colleges, as every college has different criteria for marking and grading.

The best college for the petroleum department and average for others.
Placements: I am in the chemical engineering department. The average salary package offered in our department is not very good, but it is okay. Our course contains a vast amount of scope which it covers. It nearly covers all fields so it is important. In our course, the highest salary package offered is above 56 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is above average. All facilities in our college are above average. It has one of the largest libraries in India which contains 7 floors which is more for students. The mess food is average. It is not very good but not so bad.
Faculty: Here is relative marking, so there is no pass percentage. Relative marking is so good for students because they only have to complete with their classmates, not for a minimum mark. The course curriculum is relevant for us and makes us ready for the industry in which we will be placed.
Other: All things are awesome.

I can say that college is quite good enough, will give ample of opportunities to you.
Placements: The placements are quite good enough for a freshers graduation in current scenario. You can expect packages of crore but it is very limited. Yes, if you work upon your skills and maintain a minimum CGPA, the placement is almost guaranteed. Also the internship opportunities are also vast here.
Infrastructure: Considering the food quality, it's is just lika as good as to eat not something which you will gave for, also hygiene and sanitation is the issue for now. Wi-Fi facilities are decent enough, but you can't expect to be much good. Library is very fast and is the core attraction of whole campus with immense number of books.
Faculty: Talking about the faculty, they are highly qualified enough, most of them have done their Ph.D. from some top IITs or any other big foreign universities. The branch wise curriculum is old standard one, and is only relevant to those who actually lovers the subject to read.
Other: No.

Hello Rupesh, To get admission in IITs, you need to qualify JEE main and clear JEE advanced with a great score. With JEE Mains, you can apply only for NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. To know your chances, you may refer the link below: https://www.shiksha.com/b-tech/resources/jee-mains-college-predictor

Hello Anshul, Even though, recognition as IIT came quite late, earlier version of ISM was indeed having great academic reputation. Hence, I feel that you should have no hesitancy in joining chemical engineering in this IIT.
