No, there is no provision of a student studying free at IIT Patna as per the official website. However, IIT Patna provides a range of Merit-Cum-Means scholarships to meritorious and needy students. Any UG (BTech) student or MSc student can receive these scholarships. Candidate must satisfy at least one of the following two criteria with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in the year of first appearance in the Class XII (or equivalent examination), i.e. in either 2023 or 2024: Candidate must have passed class 12th or equivalent examination with a minimum of five subjects and with the mentioned marks in aggregate (65% for PwD candidates) from a recognized board. Some Insights about IIT Patna.

Placements: The percentage of students placed depends on the branch primarily, but on average, about 90% of students get placed. In branches like CSE, MNC, and EC, it is almost 100%. The highest salary package offered is 65 LPA and the average salary package offered is 27 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Google, Microsoft, Flipkart, LinkedIn, Sprinklr, Infosys, Mahindra, and many other big brands. This is because it is an IIT.

Infrastructure: My college being an IIT has great infrastructure. Every building has its own Wi-Fi network with classrooms also having it. Everything required for us is present here, starting from libraries, playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, and other infrastructures. Classrooms are well-equipped with all the important technologies.

Faculty: Teachers here are very helpful. They are both knowledgeable and very experienced in their particular domain. Talking about the curriculum, in the first year we have common courses for students of all branches which gives everyone basic knowledge about all the branches.

Other: Since getting admission to IIT requires giving the JEE Advanced, I chose this course and institute based on my rank. I am quite happy with the course I have chosen because I am gaining interest in it now.

A short glimpse into the life at IIT Patna.

Placements: The placements here at IIT Patna were quite good even during the 2024 season when the job market was struggling. The highest CTC offered stands at 52 lakhs per annum. Major recruiters were ZS Associates, Rappid Ai, Futures First, BPCL etc. The companies visited for various roles from software to core.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure and facilities at the department were satisfactory. Wifi were available in hostels dept libraries and central library as well as classrooms. I would say average quality of food was provided in the mess. There was a gym as well as gaming rooms and courts in the hostel.

Faculty: The teachers and faculties were quite helpful. They will support you in your research work as well as help you in internships and preparing cover letters. The course curriculum was relevant and had a good blend of practical knowledge as well as theoretical knowledge.

All about the campus life and academics of IIT Patna.

Placements: In the year 2002, the placement of mechanical engineering was 100 percent with an average salary of 18 lacs per annum, but the next year, in 2022, it was 85 percent with an average salary of 12 lacs. All in all, the placement was decent, but the majority of placements are for coding guys.

Infrastructure: The college is constructed on about 502 acres and has good infrastructure; it includes a large sports field, a gym, and other areas for different activities. The hostels are also spacious, and we have good food facilities. There are all types of labs with all the equipment, and there is Wi-Fi all over the college.

Faculty: The teachers are very knowledgeable and well-qualified, and they have a great capability of narrating their knowledge. There will be 2 quizzes, 1 midterm, and 1 end term per semester. The examinations taken here are quite tough, and some are relatively difficult, and some are absolute.

Other: I chose the course according to my JEE advance rank. The teachers here are great, making the academics more practical and the whole course more joyful. There are many events and festivals happening there.

Placements: The placements in IIT Patna are pretty good with a 96.19% placement rate every year. Students are offered jobs and internships in top companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, De Shaw, Tata, etc., with an average package of 28.59 LPA.in the technical field. (B.Tech) For Mechanical Engineering, the average salary in 2023 was 18.22 LPA.

Infrastructure: The courses are designed very well and there are many diverse options too. There are many opportunities to learn what we like. The classrooms are equipped with proper Wi-Fi, screens, and ACs. The hostels are also very clean and spacious with proper cupboards and study tables. The mess facility is good with decent food. Sports like badminton, squash, basketball, and many more have good courts and coaches.

Faculty: The teachers here are very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. The course curriculum is designed in such a way that all students can benefit. The course curriculum makes the students ready for internship opportunities and jobs. Semester exams are not too hard and not too easy; they are well-prepared in such a way that students can answer well if they possess both theory and practical knowledge.

Other: I have chosen Mechanical Engineering since I always wanted to work in the robotics field, and the labs, opportunities provided for this course in IIT Patna are pretty good.

Placements: Many students got placed in our course in the IT and finance sector. The coding culture is great. Almost 100% of students got placed in our branch. Top recruiting companies are Google, Microsoft, IBM, Mahindra, etc.

Infrastructure: Many things are under construction like a central lecture hall, library, and boys' hostels. It is a new IIT, it is in the developing phase. Many facilities are not available in our college. The sports complex is excellent. Grounds are clean and well-maintained.

Faculty: Professors have done a lot of work in the research field. They are Ph.D. holders. They have been educated at the best colleges in the world. They have incredible knowledge of their fields. The teaching methods are very different from other institutes. They focus on practical knowledge.
