Admission to M.Tech at IITG is entirely based on GATE score. Candidates with a GATE rank between 600 and 800 and a score between 400 and 800 will have a good chance for getting admitted in an MTech course at IITG. However, as the cutoff marks change for every admission year, hence, the number can vary. A relaxation in the required cutoff is given to the candidates belonging to reserved categories.

The selection criteria for the M.Tech programme offered at IIT Guwahati comprises a valid GATE score followed by COAP counselling. Aspirants with a valid BTech or BE/ MCA/ MSc/ AMIETE degree with 60% aggregate or 6.0 CPI can apply. The GATE application process is carried out online (gate.iitk.ac.in). Applications must be submitted within the due date. The GATE application fee for boys is INR 1,700, INR 850 for girls, and INR 850 for SC/ST/PwD category students.

Candidates with BTech or BE/ MCA/ MSc/ Graduation (AMIETE) with 60% aggregate or 6.0 CPI are eligible for the M.Tech in IIT Guwahati. Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice. 

Since the category of the candidate is not mentioned, I'm assuming the same to be under the General All India. To get admission into IIT Guwahati for BTech courses, the closing cutoff ranks ranged between 623 and 9178. Some of the highly competitive courses includes CSE, with the closing cutoff rank of 623, Data Science and AI, with the last-round closing rank of 995, Electrical and Communication Engineering, with the last-round closing rank of 1658. So to target the highly competitive courses, candidate must target a rank of under 2000. 

The allotment of UCEED 2024 seats will be based on:

1. UCEED 2023 merit rank of the candidate and 

2. Choice opted at the time of choice filling.

IIT Bombay will conduct registration for counseling from March 14-31, 2024. Candidates who are allocated a merit rank in UCEED 2024 have to select campuses in the order of priority. Note that the allocation of seats will be done institute and category-wise. Candidates who have been allocated seats will have to get their documents verified and pay the admission fees.
