Candidate must satisfy at least one of the following two criteria with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in the year of first appearance in the Class XII (or equivalent examination), i.e. in either 2023 or 2024: Candidate must have passed class 12th or equivalent examination with a minimum of five subjects and with the mentioned marks in aggregate (65% for PwD candidates) from a recognized board. OR Candidate must have passed class 12th or equivalent examination with minimum of five subjects and be within the category-wise (category as per the central list) top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) board examination. Other mandatory Criteria: Candidate who had appeared in Class 12th or equivalent examination for the first time in 2022 or earlier, are NOT eligible to appear irrespective of the combination or number of subjects attempted/offered. However, if the exam Board of Class 12th or equivalent declared the results for the academic year 2021-22 on or after September 21, 2022, then the candidates of that Board who appeared for their Class 12th or equivalent exam in 2022 are also eligible appear in JEE (Advanced) 2024, provided they meet all the other eligibility criteria. In case the exam Board of class 12th or equivalent declared the results for the academic year 2021-22 before September 21, 2022 but the result of a particular candidate was withheld, then the candidate will not be eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2024. NOTE: List of Qualifying Examinations (QE): - The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by a Central or State Board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). - Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a Board or University recognized by the Association of Indian Universities. - Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy. - Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects. - Any Public School, Board or University examination in India or in a foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the AIU. - H.S.C. vocational examination. - In case the Class XII examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.

The candidates who were allocated a seat in an IIT through JoSAA 2023 but (i) did not report “online” / at any “reporting centre” OR, (ii) withdrew before the last round of seat allotment, OR, (iii) had their seat cancelled (for whatever reason) before the last round of seat allotment for IITs, are eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2024.

IIT KGP: The Inside Story.

Placements: About 70-80% of students got placed every year. The highest was around 30 Lacs and the average is about 15-18 Lacs. Very diverse profile companies come for placement every year, like Amazon, IBM, Google, L&T, Texas Instruments, Infosys, Wipro, BCG, etc. This year around 20-25 students got CDC internships in various profiles like core, data, SDE, etc. The starting stipend of the CDC internship is 50,000 INR. If you want to go for core, the best company would be L&T. They hire 4-5 students every year.

Infrastructure: The department is very good, with all the required things like seminar rooms and properly facilitated labs. Wi-Fi is available everywhere on the campus, so you don’t struggle with network issues here. Hostels are called halls here. The halls are old, as many were built at the time of the establishment of the campus. But they all have the needed facilities like a library, TV room, common room, badminton court, basketball court, etc.

Faculty: Professors are very qualified, having many years of both teaching and working experience. They are very supportive and humble, and they will help you when you need it. The course is totally up-to-date, designed properly with the necessary labs and subjects. Yes, the labs here are industry-level, and they teach you from the basics. The semester can be quite hectic as it is only 4 months. There are so many exams, like class tests, quizzes before mid-sem, class tests, quizzes after mid-sem, and then the end-sem.

Other: I got this course from JOSAA counselling, so I took it. The campus is almost isolated from the outer environment, as it is located in a remote area. So, the campus is full of nature and is silent. Nature lovers will love to live here. The campus is full of events, and when you come, you will see that almost every alternate week, something is happening. There are 3 fests: Shaurya, which is the sports fest of IIT KGP; Kshitij, which is a techno-management fest related to tech events that any techy person will love; and the iconic Spring Fest, which is the cultural fest that has almost every cultural event you could think of. After all the fests, there are singing concerts where personalities perform. There are so many scholarship options you can choose from, but you need to go through the interview phase. The campus is full of extracurricular activities; you just need to show your enthusiasm.

College plays a crucial role in your life; choose wisely .

Placements: As of my knowledge, the placements are pretty good even though there is a recession in the market. I'm not sure of the figure, but around 1500+ placement offers have come, and 500+ internships have come so far this year. Many giants like Amazon, Microsoft, McKinsey, and others are hiring students, and the average packages are also 20+ LPA. And the college provides a great platform to shine, and you should also work on your skills.

Infrastructure: Well, there are no issues with infrastructure, and everyone would be having a problem with the food in the mess, which is a mandatory part of hostel life. The campus is spacious with a super good environment, but the climate conditions are extreme. The college encourages sports and extracurricular activities. There is a hospital on campus for free of cost with good service.

Faculty: Well, I don't think I am eligible to comment on the faculty, but I think IITs are a bit exaggerated. College is basically not just for studies but the exposure you get, and I have come to know that after coming here. Well, the exams are not that tough; moderate efforts are enough. There will be some criteria for qualifying the course, and I am not sure about it.

Other: Well, I was interested in civil engineering, and as demand is not that high, I am trying to learn some skills too. Well, here in college, you'll be engaging in many activities and clubs. Everything is fine except its location; literally, there is nothing in Kharagpur outside of the campus.
