NIT Jalandhar Review by Abhishek Sapkal.
Placements: Our institute has a placement cell, and it does its best to help students acquire jobs, but for good job offers, there is too much competition, and so only the best can get the best. As per the latest report, NIT Jalandhar recorded a 73.79% placement rate for the Class of 2023 till March 7, 2023. Earlier in 2022, NIT Jalandhar recorded an 81.76% placement rate in the academic year 2021-2022. Going back to 2021 placements, NIT Jalandhar recorded a 63.44% placement rate.
Infrastructure: NIT Jalandhar has 10 boys' hostels and 3 girls' hostels. I have got BH-1 (Boys' Hostel 1) for the 1st year, and the facilities here are way better than I had imagined for any hostel. I never even dreamed that I could get such delicious food in any hostel mess. I never felt the need to go to the cafeteria to have lunch or breakfast. Some dishes are even better than those cooked at home, and I am not kidding when I write it. Though some seniors told us that it's only in the first year that we get food this good. We get three meals a day and snacks in the evening. The hostel also has a badminton court, a volleyball court, and an indoor games room where there are indoor games like chess, carrom, and table tennis. The best part of BH-1 hostel, which makes it the best among all the 13 hostels, is that we have a computer lab in our hostel apart from the reading room. There are about 10 to 12 computers, and all have i7 processor CPUs, which is fantastic.
Faculty: Teachers, as far as experience goes, are supportive and helpful, but very few of them give marks easily in exams. The rest try their best to give you a hard challenge to obtain good marks in exams. The exam papers made by them are on the bit tougher side.
Other: The campus has separate buildings for each branch of engineering, like the IT building, Computer Science department, and all. Apart from that, there are two libraries. One has thousands of books for issuing by students. It doesn't have AC but fans. The second library is a new one with three floors, all fully air-conditioned and has hundreds of computers. It is my favorite spot on the institute campus till date. It's a bit busy during exam times though.

B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2027

This College Provides Support Facilities.
Placements: The placement percentage of the Electrical department is approximately 90%, sometimes reaching 95%. The highest package is 52 Lacs in Google by an Electrical student. The average package oscillates around 13-14 Lacs. Not having accurate data for the lowest package, the top recruiting companies are Google, Microsoft, Samsung, Flipkart, TCS, Amazon, Infosys, Hero, and many more companies visit every year. More than 50% of students get a good internship in top companies. This year, I remember one boy and one girl from Electrical who got internships in Google and Microsoft.
Infrastructure: The facilities are good enough on our campus, but the institute is working to make better infrastructure. At present, it is at a moderate level. Free Wi-Fi is available in all campus areas. Labs have modern instruments. Both classrooms and the library are digital. The quality of the facilities in our hostel is fine. The food is moderate; you will get delicious food for 3 or 4 days, but for the rest of the days, you will get decent food. The college provides healthcare facilities at a basic level; for serious cases, you need to go outside the campus. In the hostel, you will get indoor sports like table tennis, chess, carrom, volleyball, and badminton. On campus, there are sports grounds for cricket, football, lawn tennis, volleyball, basketball, and kabaddi.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful and have good qualifications and knowledge. But the teaching quality is decent. Yes, the course is relevant, and along with study, they give practical knowledge also. The semester exam is not that tough; it's easy to score passing marks. At the end of the semester, you have to score a minimum of 40 marks out of 100: 30 marks for the mid-semester, 50 marks for the end-semester, and 20 marks for internal assessments
Other: I took this branch because you will get two routes in this branch. The first one is that you can go for core, and the other is that you can prepare yourself for teaching. You will get good and enough events and fests. The events and fests are Bharat Dhwani, Utkansh, Bathukamma, Virasat-e-Punjab, and many more.

Review of National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar.
Placements: This year I. e 2024 placements were not good. Companies like Amazon, google did not visit our campus. The highest oncampus package was 19 Lacs offered by Oracle. Top recruiting companies for CSE were Oracle, BPCL for the SDE roles. Internship percentage was also less only 14 students got internship in Microsoft. No other company visited for internships. The lowest package was 3 LPA.
Infrastructure: Facilities- Wi-Fi is available in hostels and CSE department also it has a good range. The hostels for the first year students are not at all good. They are 4 sharing which makes it really difficult to study as there is no reading room also and the in-time is very less so you cant go to library also. For the 2nd-4th year girls, hostel is good. The mess food is good. Library conditions are not at all good. In one side of the library even fan is not there, which makes it really difficult to study in summer. They don't give conducive conditions for students to study. Like we have one lab called CC lab in which students can study after their classes but irony is that "no charge is allowed" because according to some gentleman who is in-charge there, "students pull the charging board out while plugging out their charges". How are the students going to study? They have opened a new library also which open from 9am-5pm. Classes timing are 8:30 am-5:30 pm. Like what's the point?
Faculty: Teachers are neither helpful nor knowledgeable. Teaching quality is really poor. No concept is ever cleared. They all have a lot of ego. Course curriculum is outdated and not at all makes us industry ready. Like we are taught "microprocessors" in 2024! Semester exams level is okay but some teachers have a habit of setting up a difficult question paper and not giving marks thereafter.

Living the life of dreams at NITJ.
Placements: Placement at NIT Jalandhar is very impressive. I'm not sure about other branches, but in my branch, last year's placement was very good. The highest salary package for my branch (Industrial and Production Engineering) offered is 18 LPA, and the average salary package offered is 8 LPA. The highest salary package for my college offered is 52 LPA, and the average salary package offered is 14 LPA.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of hostel for first year is not so good because of small rooms, but in these small rooms, we are making big memories. Mess facilities are not bad, not good; I say it is average. As my course is Industrial and Production Engineering, in India the scope for this branch is low, but but it has high scope abroad.
Faculty: Faculty members of NIT Jalandhar are very good and supportive. Students can visit them anytime for their doubts. They always tell us about further opportunities which will help us grow and upskill ourselves. There are lots of exams in NIT Jalandhar. It was only one month to mid-sem, and end-sem exams are standing in front of us.
Other: Crowd and campus life of NIT Jalandhar is awesome. Fests are just fabulous, and for your kind information, I want to tell students that the upcoming event of our college, Utkansh is the biggest fest in North India among all colleges.

Is NIT JALANDHAR worth it or not?
Placements: In my course, I. e. textile technology 80% of the students are placed. The highest package ordered was 18 LPA and average package was 7.70 LPA and the lowest package was 3 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Trident, Arvind, Reliance, Vardhaman. The percent of students getting internships is 70-80%, some internships are unpaid and some are paid. Paid internships are offered by Trident with the Stipend of ?50,000 per month, Reliance provides internship with stipend of ?40,000 per month, Vardhaman gives ?10,000 and MANTRA gives stipend of ?10,000 per month.
Infrastructure: The textile department is one of the oldest department in the NIT Jalandhar, in our department we have 6 labs like spinning lab, weaving lab, garment lab, advance garment lab, fiber lab, chemical processing lab. We have on library in our department with one seminar hall. The food quality in hostel is average, sports facilities are also available in our hostel. There is one dispensary in the campus which provides health facilities.
Faculty: The faculty is professional, helpful, and well qualified. Some teachers, which are senior, are strict but they are supportive. They are dedicated towards their work and they stress upon the betterment of their students. However, some professors, which are new in the department, are hill, friendly like if you have any problem whether in academics or personal life, you can discuss with them without any hesitation. We have faculty from different backgrounds, cultures, and states. They have different teaching style like those that new professors sick on PPTs while the old ones do emphasize on books and research papers but overall their teaching style is related to the changing and evolving advancements in the industry. There are two types of exam every semester one is mid sem and other is end sem, the difficult level of each subject exam depends upon the professors, like if senior professors are making question paper it will be tough whereas if the question paper is made by new professors it will be easier.
Other: Overall, campus life is good. There is technical and cultural fest, which happens every year. ? Utkansh? Is the cultural fest while? Techniti? Is the technical fest. In institute, there are various clubs based on different interests. We have dance clubs like criminal crew, SI crew, Bhangra club, for literature, we have LADC, Zeal, Rashtra Bhasha club, and Daksh is the technical club. We have food club, Bawre and Kalakaar are the dramatics club, and Praayas is the social club, Team cultural affair for event management, Octaves for music, Reverie for fashion technology, NETRA for photography. In the starting of every new batch, every club organizes their induction for letting the freshers to join various clubs. My overall experience at NIT Jalandhar is good. As I was AJEE aspirant, I was studying hard to get good marks in JEE. My JEE Main exam was cleared and I got 90 percentile. So according to it I had options for NIT. From the very starting, I was interested to pursue my B.Teach in the industry, production related engineering, and I was interested in Punjab culture. My father is also in Textile industry so I was also interested in Textile Engineering because of him. The top institute, which provides Engineering in the textile, is NIT Jalandhar. In the field of Textile Engineering, this institute provides good knowledge, scope, and placements. That? S why if someone is really passionate about their interest in thus industry, NIT Jalandhar is the must go option.

Consider this option only if you have genuine concerns.
Placements: With around 13 branches of B.Tech. and more than 20+ specializations for M.Tech., the placement offered by the college is better than some other IITs too. However, this college is often neglected by most video makers. The placement for B.Tech. is quite satisfactory, but for M.Tech., it is very, or, you can say, almost negligible. The institute has many high records in placement, and students have secured packages not only in lakhs but also in crores. The placement process at NIT Jalandhar can be a bit surprising, as students may face some discomfort. They often have to contact the placement head or the training and placement cell multiple times for their placement, causing inconvenience at times.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is acceptable, but it lags in one aspect for Computer Science, Engineering, and Information Technology students. The computers in the computer lab are quite old, and their hardware properties do not align with the current technology. Some labs still operate on Windows 7, and even Windows XP can be found in a few labs. Additionally, some installed Windows are not activated, presenting a cringe-worthy scenario. The overall construction of the college is decent, but one cannot expect the same level of facilities as in some good private colleges in India. If you are particularly enthusiastic about computers, I recommend considering admission to a good private college.
Faculty: The teaching level for the Computer Engineering branch is not up to par, and the syllabus is somewhat outdated. The syllabus lacks the inclusion of the latest technologies, such as AI, chatbots, and ChatGPT. The curriculum appears to be the same as it was five years ago. Students often find themselves heavily relying on YouTube for learning, making it seem as if they paid the fees to YouTube for their degrees. The inclusion of the latest subjects is essential, and without them, the educational experience may feel inadequate.
Other: I joined the course because I believed NIT was superior, but it lacks infrastructure.

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.
