    Trying to fulfill expectations !
Placements: Hi, I am pursuing my B.Tech. degree from the chemical engineering department. In the academic year 2023–24, placement statistics dropped from the normal level. In our department, the number of students who got placed decreased. About 40% of the total registered students failed to get placed this year. Companies like Caring Oil, Bharath Petroleum, HP, and Exxonmobil are the major recruiters who visit our department. The highest package is 26 LPA and the average package is between 9 and 14 LPA. Our branch offers roles like control engineer, production engineer, and process engineer.
Infrastructure: The facilities offered by the college are pretty good, as they offer 24 hours of free Wi-Fi, a central computer centre for digital needs, and a and a library with almost all the books for every branch. But they limited the time for using the CCC and library to midnight, and all students should return to their hostel before 12 am. This is the only matter that we students can't cope with. First-year classrooms are good enough and from second-year on, classes are in an old building where benches are not comfortable for writing. First-year NITC hostels are not that good because of the old facilities, as they were established in the 1970s! But second-year hostels are good enough with their facilities and all hostels provide chances for games in their common rooms. First-year students should hold their curfews as they should return to their hostels at 7:30 pm. Second-year students: there is no curfew at all and students are free.
Faculty: All of the faculty members are Ph.D. holders and they are well educated. They will skip certain portions, asking students to cover all those from the textbooks and at last, asking questions in the exam from the portion they skipped will make us in trouble. The curriculum is much relaxed, as the student will get more free time as the slots cover only half the day. Students should manage 80% of their attendance; otherwise, they are not able to write the exams. Assignments, quizzes, and surprise tests are the ways of internals, which clearly depend on the faculty.
Other: I think this course is better than the one I chose through Jossa counselling. The best thing about your course is that, compared to other branches, we have a lesser amount of work and lab hours. Also, chemical engineering has much scope in the future. Tathva and Ragam are the technical and cultural fests, respectively, of our college. The campus is very loving and pretty, as it covers 300 acres of land and looks green with plenty of trees. The shades of trees always have a cool effect on the campus. The friend circle makes our lives more memorable on campus. NITC provides scholarships based on the income status of the students. If your income is less than 1 lacs, you should not need to pay any tuition fees. If it is between 1 and 5 lacs, you should only pay 2/3 of the tuition fee, and if it is greater than 5 lacs, you should pay the entire tuition fee. In all cases, other feels are there, which will be 17k for the odd semester and 12k for the even semester. The college provides extracurricular activities, which include sports and home teams. Hometeams may improve our character to a greater extent, as I have personal experience as I am on a street play home team. All in all, campus life is very interesting.

    Facilities are well maintained.
Placements: Students become eligible for placements in the 7th semester. Various companies visit the college for chemical engineering, such as Exxon Mobile, ONGC, and Hindustan Unilever Limited, in the core sector, whereas companies like Capgemini, Deloitte, and Oracle hire from the non-core sector. The maximum offers made were 70 LPA for 2022. The average package is 9.9 LPA and the highest package was offered by Oracle for 2023, which was around 30 LPA. 86% of students got placed.
Infrastructure: NIT Calicut hostels provide a mixed bag of experiences for residents. On the positive side, the facilities are generally well-maintained, offering basic amenities like Wi-Fi, laundry, and common rooms. The hostel staff are often helpful, ensuring a smooth living experience for students. The hostel rooms, while not extravagant, are functional and provide a decent environment for study. However, there are areas that could use improvement. The cleanliness standards vary across hostels, with some being notably cleaner than others. Maintenance issues, such as plumbing and electrical problems, can occasionally disrupt the daily routine of residents. The hostel mess food has received mixed reviews, with some finding it satisfactory, while others express a desire for more variety and improved taste. Socially, the hostels foster a sense of community among students, with various cultural and sports events organized throughout the year.
Faculty: A chemical engineering course is generally composed of different contents, such as general, organic and physical chemistry, calculus-based Physics and differential equations. In basic computer programming, the faculty are highly qualified, the faculty ratio is large enough for the class size, and the teaching methods are advanced, like using AI for better understanding and grasping. Smart work is preferred by the faculty. Exams are wisely conducted as id term and end term, so that students can easily grasp the contents.
Other: There are many mini-fests, and the main two biggest fests are Ragam and Tathva. These two are the biggest fests at the college, and we very much enjoyed them.

Really good campus life and infrastructure.
Placements: About 100 seats are available for the chemical engineering course on our campus. The highest salary package was 20 LPA and the average is 3 LPA. BPCL, Reliance, Axis Bank, etc. are the top recruiters. 80% of students who sat for the placements got placed. Chemical engineering students are not only recruited to core companies but also in software, management and teaching.
Infrastructure: WiFi is installed almost everywhere on campus. Labs and classrooms are technically equipped. Our library is one of Asia's largest. The food quality is fine and good. We have around 6 messes available on campus. A total of 2 campuses are there. Gyms and sports facilities are also available.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified. Though they're overqualified, only some of them really know the art of teaching. The curriculum is appropriate. The labs are good for understanding the concepts. But we'll have to step out of campus and do internships in industries to face real-world scenarios.
Other: My interests lie in the subjects of math and physics, as well as chemical engineering. The social life on our campus is pretty good. We conduct South India's largest tech and cultural fests. The legacy is just another level.

    NITC, From a student's perspective.
Placements: From information I have got, it is speculated to be around 80-85% placed with an average around 6 or 7 LPA. Major recruiting firms include Reliance, Cairn oil, Exxon, Axis Bank. Internship opportunities are not much known to me. Although I can confirm the stipend range around 7-15k.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the depth is new, so we have better classrooms and labs, with a beautiful exterior view. Wi-Fi/LAN are given to students in the hostel, while Wi-Fi is provided throughout the campus. The hostel is pretty old, but the food was okay; the food is good some days and worse during the rest. Some incidents had caused widespread stomach aches across the hostel. They provide TV room facilities with chess, ice hockey, and carrom included. Water heaters are provided in every bathroom of the hostel.
Faculty: The teachers are well-equipped and adapted to the course. Even though we have recently adopted the new NEP policy since the 23rd batch, the quality of teaching was of excellent standards. The relevancy of the curriculum even from the first semester towards the core branch motives is extremely evident, for fields such as process engineering, refining, extraction, etc. The exams were not so tough; although, the pass percentage would be nearly 80-90 percent.
Other: The vibrant campus and its lush greenery, along with the perfect mapping of NITC, make it a perfect spot for students. It is distant enough from Calicut to be quiet and peaceful, yet close enough for a fun time around the city. They also have Calicut airport nearby, which helps students come and go from the campus with ease. I do not need to speak many words about RAGAM and TATHVA, the major fests are legendary for their ecstatic and vibrant life, bringing the whole campus together.

    Review of my college #Nitc.
Placements: 50% of students are from their home state, and 50% are from other states. The highest package is INR 40 lakhs, and the average package is INR 5 lakhs. The top companies are Oracle, etc. 70% of students are placed in internships. In my course, many core jobs will come from the petroleum and paper industries.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are available, like Wi-Fi; labs and classrooms are available; and the library is available 24/7. The hostel facility is average. Food is not that good in a mess. Rooms are very small; in the first year, we used to accommodate five people in one room. And medical facilities are there but not that good. Sports and games are okay.
Faculty: Here at our college, we are ranked 5th in the NIRF ranking for teaching. Teachers are well knowledgeable and they are PhDs, so their overall teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is not that helpful in engineering life. Yes, the semester exams are very difficult at our college. And here the pass mark is decided by the toppers papers and average mark; not a specific mark is there for pass.
Other: For my JEE Main rank, I got this chemical engineering so I opted for it. Many intentions and teachers are good and facilities are good. They introduce the correct and useful curriculum. Here, fests are not as good as expected. Sometimes college is canceling our fests too and postponing their dates.

Hi Fabin, As per your marks and home state quota bonus, you will get chemical engineering in NIT, Calicut, in the 3rd or 4th round, because closing rank of chemical engineering is higher. All the best.
