College is overall good in terms of placements and campus life.
Placements: This year, placements are far better considering the recession. In our batch of electrical engineering, the placement rate is around 98%. The average salary package offered is 15 LPA. The highest salary package offered is 83 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is around 5 LPA - 6 LPA.
Infrastructure: The first-year hostel is beautiful. The hostel provides all facilities. The food here is very good. It is hygienic and is of good quality. We also have a grand dinner once a month. The hostel has a sports ground for volleyball and badminton.
Faculty: Faculty members are overall good. All of them did their Ph.Ds from top IITs. They give enormous support to us in our studies and extracurricular activities. They give good grades in exams. We often get a good CGPA. The highest CGPA in the last year was 9.3.

If you are just inclined towards decent placement, this would be a good college.
Placements: Only placements are available here. Till the end of the year, it will go around 90% placements in the CSE course. Placements are very good in ECE. Placements in electrical and other courses are decent. Students can expect a salary package of 6 LPA - 7 LPA if they are average among their branchmates, so they have to take care of it.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very poor. NIT Jamshedpur has an open campus. There is a busy road surrounded by running vehicles. I hate this thing. They are constructing some hostels and playgrounds. The development process is in progress. The Internet facility is also very poor. In some rooms, the internet is available but many rooms do not have it.
Faculty: Exams are conducted every 2 months which include mid-semester and end-semester. Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable, but students didn't study and got poor marks. Questions are asked from the past year only. The difficulty level is easy to moderate.
Other: There is no college life in our college. The campus is small. There is nothing in our college.

Placements were 100% in 2023.
Placements: The placement percentage of our course in the previous year is 95%. The highest salary package offered in our course is 83 LPA. The lowest salary package offered is 10 LPA. The average salary package offered is around 17 LPA - 20 LPA. Many types of companies visit every year like Tata Steel, Flipkart, Amazon, Myntra, Zomato, Swaggy, Ted X, etc. Around 97% of students in our course get placed in different software companies like Flipkart, Amazon, Myntra, HPLI, etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college and hostels is average but now new buildings innovation are continuing. The library, academic buildings, sports grounds, and lab buildings are very good level. The facility of food in the mess is good. The canteen provides health products and snacks. Medical facilities are available. There are doctors for concerned about your diseases. Sports facilities are very good. All types of games are conducted every year by the sports club.
Faculty: Here all faculty members are supportive. They always give the right guidance for students' future. All faculty members have highly qualified degrees. They are very knowledgeable and have 6-7 years of teaching experience. This course curriculum is relevant because here every club presents their events for curriculum and entertainment with study included. Here semester exams are above average. Around 35 marks in each subject is a passing percentage.
Other: I chose the electrical engineering course because the percentage of this course every year is around 99%. I am interested in this course. All are good. There is no improvement needed in anything. Here many events and fests are held by the student council. Here total students are around 6,000-7,000. The connectivity is very good with seniors and each other. Here the scholarship scheme is available for students. All types of extracurricular activities are held.

Decent Infrastructure and facilities but very happy with the placements that are going on.
Placements: The best thing about this college is it's placements, even after being ranked low in NIRF it's placements are just exceptional. It is also a source of attraction for students to come to this college. So if you are planning to join this college don't worry about placements.
Infrastructure: College infrastructure is decent, it's not that bad neither too good. Recently new hostels have been built which has worked as a boost to the infrastructure, still the college lags in many areas as far as infrastructure is concerned. But you must be assured that you won't lag anything here, every facility is available but in a minimized way.
Faculty: Faculty here are good I would say, they are dedicated to teach you but as you might have heard in colleges it's you whose hard work matters more than any faculty's input so yes and exams are decent if you study well you can get good marks and 9 CGPA is not that big a deal.
Other: Seniors here are very helpful I would say the culture is maintained year after year, I chose electrical engineering as this was the best branch after CSE and ECE and placement in core is also very decent which attracted me and fests here are also very good there are 3 major fests in a year and also every branch have their own fests so you won't get bored.

Students also asked

Q:   Is M.Sc. at NIT Jamshedpur a good choice?

A:
{Source: M.Sc. students & alumni}

Here's a summary of the pros and cons of pursuing M.Sc. at NIT Jamshedpur:

Pros:

* Excellent faculty: Faculty members are helpful, and their teaching quality is good. Most professors hold a Post-Doc degree in their respective subjects and are well-qualified.
* Research-oriented curriculum: The course design focuses on preparing students for higher studies (Ph.D.) and research, making it ideal for those interested in pursuing advanced degrees.
* Good infrastructure: The campus offers modern facilities such as air-conditioned classrooms, libraries with Wi-Fi, and single-occupancy hostels with amenities like lifts, Wi-Fi, and furniture.
* Decent placements: Although the placement record might not be exceptional, students receive decent offers from companies like EdTech, Physics Wallah, and others, with average packages ranging from INR6-12 Lacs per annum.
* Festivals and extracurricular activities: The college hosts various festivals and has multiple societies for extracurricular activities, providing opportunities for students to develop their interests outside academics.

Cons:

* Limited industry connections: As mentioned by several students, the college receives mostly educational background companies, and industrial background companies rarely visit the campus.
* No placements in Chemistry department: Unfortunately, the college doesn't seem to focus on recruitment in the Chemistry department, resulting in limited placement opportunities for students in this field.
* High competition: With over 90% of students getting placed from the college, competition for limited slots can be intense.
* Average hostel food: Students reported that the hostel food was not great, especially for North Indians who had to adapt to the local cuisine.

In conclusion, while NIT Jamshedpur's M.Sc. programme has its strengths, such as excellent faculty and infrastructure, it may not be the best fit for everyone due to limitations in industry connections and placements. However, for those interested in pursuing higher studies or research, it could be a suitable option.

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.
