Q:   What is WBJEE Cutoff?

A:

The opening and closing ranks for admissions into the various B.Tech courses offered by the participating institutes of the state constitute the WBJEE cutoff. After the examination is conducted, the authorities will prepare the WBJEE cutoff based on the candidate's performance and other related factors. However, it is to be noted that meeting the WBJEE cutoff does not guarantee admissions and only raises the chances of the candidates. WBJEE 2024 cutoff has been prepared and released online.

Q:   What is the exam pattern of the WBJEE?

A:

WBJEE exam pattern outlines the details regarding how the entrance examination will be conducted by the authorities. WBJEE will be held as a pen-and-paper-based test. The total duration of the examination is 4 hours - 2 hours for Paper 1 (Mathematics) and 2 hours for Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry). The candidates will have to answer a total of 155 multiple-choice questions. In the paper, the questions are divided into three categories. Category I and II questions will have only one correct option while Category III questions will have one or more correct options. For every wrong answer in Category I and II, 1/4 mark will be deducted. There is no negative marking for Category III questions.

Q:   What is the syllabus of the WBJEE?

A:
Detailed syllabus for WBJEE Mathematics - Algebra- A. P, G. Q:   Is BTech losing its value?

A:

In the past five years, there has been a steady decline in enrollment for B.Tech and B.E courses due to a reduction in job opportunities in core streams. Fresher hiring by IT companies has notably decreased,  dropping from 26% of overall passouts in FY22 to 15% and 10% in FY23 and FY24, respectively. However, there is still hope in specialised areas such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, which continue to experience niche demand.

During 2022-23, there was a 9% decrease in fresher hiring compared to the previous year. It is anticipated that this trend will persist into FY24, with a further 5% decline expected.

Q:   Is BTech only for IIT?

A:

No, a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree is not exclusive to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). While the IITs are prestigious engineering institutions in India that offer BTech programs, there are numerous other engineering colleges and universities across the country that also provide BTech degrees. These institutions vary in terms of reputation, faculty, infrastructure, and other factors.

Students can pursue BTech in various engineering disciplines such as Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering,  and more. The admission criteria, curriculum, and quality of education may differ among institutions.

It's important for students to research and consider factors such as accreditation, faculty qualifications, facilities, industry connections, and placement records when choosing an engineering college for pursuing a BTech degree. Many well-established universities outside of the IIT system offer high-quality engineering education as well.

Hope this information proves beneficial for you!
