GATE 2025 Application Form: IIT Roorkee closed the GATE 2025 application form correction process. The last date to make changes was Nov 20 (for other candidates) and Nov 22, 2024 (for PwD candidates). The conducting body also added a new GATE two-paper combination list for registered candidates and announced the GATE 2025 branch-wise exam dates. Candidates can visit the GOAPS portal to add or modify their paper preferences. However, candidates who have successfully registered for the GATE 2025 exam can now only download the IIT Roorkee GATE application form in PDF. The application form contains all the required information regarding the exam and the candidate. Qualifying GATE offers admissions to master’s, PhD, or PSUs. Registrations were done using the GATE candidate login at the GATE 2025 exam portal. The GATE 2025 exam is scheduled for February 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025, in two sessions - Morning (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and Afternoon (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm). The exam dates for different GATE 2025 test papers have been announced on the website. 

The IIT Roorkee GATE 2025 registration form comprises different stages: registration, filling out the application form, uploading documents, and paying fees. The mode of registration is online. This year, IIT Roorkee is conducting the GATE 2025 exam for M.Tech or PhD admission to India’s top institutes, such as IITs, NITs, IIITs or top PSUs, such as GAIL, SAIL, IOCL, and more. Q:   What is the last date of filling the GATE 2025 Application form?

GATE 2025 Registrations started on 28 August 2024. The last date for the GATE 2025 Registration has been extended to October 3, 2024 due to several requests from the applicants. Q:   When will the GATE 2025 registration start?

Q:   Can I get admission to foreign universities through GATE 2025?

A:

Yes, there are few foreign top universities which offer admission based on GATE exam. Top universities in Singapore such as National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Universities in Germany such as RWTH Aachen and Technical University of Munich (TUM) offers admission based on GATE performance. 

Candidates must know that there may be external factors also in the admission criteria such as ILETS, TOFEL. So candidates must contact the university before applying for the admission process.

Q:   Can I appear for GATE after doing Diploma in civil engineering?

Hi Ramesh, GATE is used for applying to M.Tech or ME. After Diploma, you have to apply for engineering (BE). After successful completion of your degree, you can go for M.Tech. So, for applying M.Tech, you have to give entrance exam called GATE. You have to qualify for getting good college. Regards.

GATE 2025 Eligibility Criteria

IIT Roorkee has released the GATE 2025 eligibility criteria on the official website. The criteria comprise the age limit, nationality, relaxation, and educational qualifications. The eligibility criteria is the most important factor in the GATE 2025 admission process. Documents required to fill GATE 2025 application form

Candidates must submit the required documents to complete the GATE 2025 registration form. The documents must be readable, clear, and in a specified format. It should be appropriately scanned so that the documents can be uploaded correctly. Uploading unreadable documents may lead to delays in processing the application and may lead to rejection of candidature. Candidates must check the below-mentioned list of required documents: 

  • A high-quality image of a candidate's photograph of the specified requirements. 
  • A good-quality image of the candidate's signature conforming to the specified requirements. 
  • The candidate must upload details of the Educational Degree Certificate, provisional Certificate, or Certificate from the Head of the Department/ Institute.
  • The candidate must upload a scanned copy of the Category (SC/ST) certificate in PDF format (if applicable). Authorised officers must issue the certificate (as mentioned in the official GATE 2025 notification). 
  • Candidates must specify one of the following valid Photo Identity Documents (IDs): Voter ID, PAN Card, Aadhar Card, Passport, etc. 
  • Candidate must upload PwD Certificate and specify Scribe Requirements (In case of PwD candidates)
  • The candidate must upload the Certificate of Dyslexic Condition & specify the scribe requirements (In case of dyslexic candidate)

PHOTOGRAPH REQUIREMENTS: 

  • A recent colour photograph with a white background and the candidate's face should cover 60-70% of the photograph's area. 
  • The photo of the candidate must be of 3.5 cm width × 4.5 cm height with a minimum size of 5 KB to a maximum 1 MB.
  • Photographs must be uploaded in JPG/JPEG Format with a resolution between 200 x 260 pixels and 530 x 690 pixels
  • The candidate’s face must not be covered with objects such as cloth, caps, hats, sunglasses, coloured glasses, etc. except for religious reasons. 

SIGNATURE REQUIREMENTS 

  • The candidate's signature must be in black or dark blue ink, covering a minimum of 70-80% of the image's area. 
  • The size of the signature must be between 1cm width × 2.75 cm height and 1cm width × 3.75 cm height, with a minimum size of 3 KB and a maximum size of 1 MB. 
  • The signature must be uploaded in JPG/JPEG Format with a pixel resolution range of at least 250 × 80 pixels to a maximum of 580 × 180 pixels
  • The candidate must ensure that the uploaded signature matches the signature at the time of examination, else he/she will be disqualified. 

EDUCATIONAL DOCUMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • The Original/ Passing Degree format is specified in Appendix A of the Information Brochure.
  • The certificate must be in PDF Format & file size should be between 10 KB and 300 KB.
  • Aadhaar-UID, Aadhaar Virtual ID, Government ID, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID or Driving License are accepted as valid photo ID proof. 
  • The candidate must bring the original ID proof with the GATE 2025 Admit Card on the examination day.  
  • The photo ID must clearly show the name, photo, ID number, and date of birth.  
  • Candidates must ensure that they provide a recent & government-authorised PwD category certificate. 
  • Benefits would be given to those with benchmark disabilities, i.e., not less than 40% impairment, irrespective of the type of disability. 

DYSLEXIA CERTIFICATE FOR GATE Registrations 2025

Such a certificate can be obtained from any Dyslexia Association. Some of them are listed below: 

  • Dyslexia Trust of Kolkata, Divya Jalan, Aruna Bhaskar 3, Dover Park, Kolkata – 700019.  
  • Madras Dyslexia Association, 94 Park View, G.N. Chetty Road, T. Nagar, Chennai –600017 
  • Maharashtra Dyslexia Association, 003, Amit Park Bldg, L J Road, Deonar, Mumbai 400088. The Dyslexia Association of India, MZ-47, The Center Stage Mall, Plot No 01, Block L, Sector 18, NOIDA, 201303. 

Any dyslexic or PwD candidate can avail of the facility of a scribe for the GATE 2025 exam. Candidates can check the scribe specifications below.

SCRIBE SPECIFICATIONS: 

  • The scribe must not be a candidate for the GATE 2025 examination. 
  • The educational qualification of the scribe must be less than the minimum eligibility criteria of GATE. 
  • A panel of (Y+1) scribes for Y candidates will be available at the exam centre so that candidates can choose an alternative scribe for the services. 
  • Candidates with scribes will be given an extra 1 hour of compensatory time if their writing capabilities are limited. 

Q:   Who is eligible for GATE exam?

A:

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is the entrance exam for admission to postgraduate courses at IITs, NITs, IIITs in Engineering, Science and other allied subjects. The detailed eligibility criteria of GATE are given below:

  • Candidates who are currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree programme or who have completed any government approved degree programme in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Architecture/ Humanities are eligible to appear for GATE 2024.
  • Candidates who possess certification from any of the below list professional societies are also eligible to apply for GATE however, they must ensure that those examinations are approved by MoE/AICTE/UGC/ UPSC as being equivalent to B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Arch./ B.Planning, etc. 
    • The Institution of Engineers (India) (IE)
    • The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE)
    • The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE)
    • The Aeronautical Society of India (AeSI)
    • The Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, including Polymer and Environmental Group (IIChE)
    • The Indian Institute of Metals (IIM)
    • The Indian Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIIE)
  • Candidates who have obtained/are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India are also eligible. All such candidates must be currently in the 3rd or higher years or must have completed their Bachelor’s degree (of at least three years duration) in Engineering/ Technology/ Science/ Architecture/ Humanities. 
  • Candidates pursuing or in possession of any higher degree will be allowed to appear for GATE 2024.
  • Candidates must note that there is no age limit to apply for GATE.

Q:   What if my details mismatch in educational documents and government photo ID card while filling in the GATE 2025 application form?

A:

Candidates are advised to rectify the mistake if any are found in the documents.  If a candidate fills in the GATE application form with mismatched details such as name, date of birth, etc. his/her application form will show DEFECTIVE after submitting the application form. The application form also stands a chance of getting rejected altogether. So, candidates must keep in mind that their details in all the documents are properly matched, if not please make sure to get them modified before the GATE 2025 application form.

GATE 2025 Application Form Fees

The conducting authority, IIT Roorkee, accepts only the GATE 2025 application form if the payment is completed. The GATE application form fee submission mode is online via net banking/credit card/debit card/UPI. International master and visa cards are also acceptable for payment of the GATE application fee. The GATE registration fee for general is INR 1800 (without a late fee) and INR 2300 (with a late fee). However, additional online transaction charges may be available and will reflected on the payment portal. Candidates must note that the GATE registration fee 2025 is non-refundable, except when a certain combination is removed by the GATE conducting body. 

The application fee for GATE 2025 is different for general and reserved/female category candidates. Here are the fee details of the application form for different category sections, along with the GATE 2025 late fee charges -

Candidates must note that the application fee mentioned above does not include any service charges, processing fees, or other charges that the bank may levy. The GATE registration fee for two test papers will be twice that for a single paper. 

Note: In addition, PwD candidates with a benchmark disability of more than 40% are eligible for fee concession.

GATE 2025 Application Fee Payment Instructions

GATE application form 2025 accepts payment methods such as net banking, credit cards, debit cards, and UPI. Candidates can also make payments through an international visa and master card. The fee amount is visible on the payment portal, where candidates must confirm and pay. Once the payment is successful, candidates will be redirected to the application form portal, where they can download the PDF copy of the GATE exam form. 

Before paying the application fee for GATE 2025, candidates must check their internet connectivity. In case of poor internet connection or glitch issues, candidates must check their transaction status from their bank account and log in again after some time to check the GATE application form payment status. Candidates can contact this phone number—8037097019—or send an e-mail to iitrgate@ccavenuehelpdesk.zendesk.com for any GATE application payment failure issues.

If the payment is received, the candidate can download the application form. If not, a fresh payment must be initiated. However, if the amount is deducted from the bank account but the payment acknowledgement still needs to be received, the money will be credited back to the source account within 15 days. Candidates are advised to make the payment beforehand to avoid the last-minute rush. 

GATE 2025 Application Form Process

GATE aspirants must visit the GOAPs portal on the official website- gate2025.iitr.ac.in to apply. The registration link for GATE 2025 is now closed. The last day to complete the registration without late fees was October 3, 2024 (without paying a late fee). The last date to submit the GATE application form with late fees was extended to October 11, 2024 (with a late fee of INR 500). The interface offers several facilities for students, such as filling out the GATE 2025 exam application form, uploading documents, paying the application fee, checking the GATE application form status, downloading the admit card, rank or score card, etc. However, following the guidelines and instructions prescribed by the GATE conducting authorities is essential to experience a seamless application form submission.

Here is a step-by-step GATE 2025 application form guideline that the candidates must follow -

GATE 2021 Application Process

Step I - Registration

This is the first stage of the application form process. During the GATE 2025 registration at goaps.iitr.ac.in, candidates must provide their full name, date of birth, valid e-mail ID, and mobile number and then create a password. All communication regarding the GATE exam will be sent to the contact details offered by the candidate. 

Once the registration is completed, candidates will receive a GATE enrollment ID, which will be the reference ID for all future communications regarding the exam. Candidates must create a unique GATE 2025 password, around 8 to 15 characters during enrollment. The GATE enrollment ID and password are the GATE 2025 login credentials.

Step II - Filling the GATE application form

After completing the GATE registration process, candidates have to proceed to fill out the application form. Candidates are advised to fill out the details carefully. The mode of the application form is online and must be strictly filled by the candidate. During the GATE application process, candidates have to provide the following information -

  • Personal information - (Candidate’s name, Date of birth, Mobile number, Parent’s name, Parent’s mobile number, etc). The information on the application form must match that on a valid photo ID. Candidates are advised to enter all the information correctly to avoid rejecting the application form.  Candidates must not use any prefix or title such as Mr./ Shri/ Dr./ Mrs./ Smt./ Prof./ Capt./ Maj./ Lt./ Col. etc. before names. 
  • Communication details - Address including Pincode
  • Educational Qualifications - School and graduation degree details, college name and address with pin code, etc. 
  • GATE exam details - Choose options for GATE test papers and GATE examination cities
  • A recent photograph and signature as per the specifications
  • Scanned copy of documents - Valid ID proof, category certificate, PwD certificate, and Dyslexic certificate in PDF format
  • Scribe requirement details

Step III - Uploading of Documents

After filling out the details, candidates must upload a scanned copy of the required documents, including photographs, signatures, educational certificates, category certificates, etc. After completing all the steps, preview the application form. Candidates must check every detail after filling out the form and must rectify the mistake if found before final submission. Candidates must upload each document as per the prescribed specifications mentioned below -

  • Good quality image of the candidate’s photograph conforming to the specifications 
  • Good quality image of the candidate’s signature conforming to the specifications    
  • A scanned copy of a valid photo Identity Document (ID)  
  • PDF copy of Category (SC/ST) certificate (if applicable)  
  • A PDF copy of the PwD Certificate (if applicable)  
  • PDF copy of Dyslexic Certificate (if applicable)  

Step IV - Payment of Application Fees

Candidates must pay the application to complete the application form. Candidates can check the details of the category-wise GATE 2025 application fee. After completing the application form, click “Submit & Proceed to the payment”. Once the candidate clicks on the “submit & proceed to payment" after filling out the GATE Application form, the GOAPS 2025 Portal redirects the candidate to a new Payment gateway webpage. Candidates can pay via netbanking/credit card/debit card/UPI. The candidate will be redirected to the GATE 2025 Portal upon successful transaction. 

Step V - Application Form Submission

Once the payment is successful, a unique “Fee Payment Number” will be generated, which the candidate MUST save.  Before submitting the GATE 2025 exam form, candidates must read and accept the declaration statement provided at the end of the application process stage. Confirm the declaration statement and submit the application form. Candidates must note that they can’t edit the provided details after submitting the form. After submission, candidates can download the GATE 2025 registration form in PDF format and save it for future purposes. 

Q:   I am in second year of my graduation through lateral entry after completing Diploma. Am I eligible for GATE?

A:

YES, Candidates who have taken admission after finishing their Diploma courses in their second year are technically in their 3rd year after completing 10 + 2. Any undergraduate student in 3rd year or higher years of any government-approved programme in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Arts/Commerce/Science can appear for GATE Exam.

Yes, any candidate can opt for the subject of his/her wish, however it is advised to candidates that they should choose the subject based on the grounds of their graduation and the course they want to study after clearing the GATE exam

Candidates are given free choice to choose the GATE papers, however candidates should choose the papers which align with the qualifying degree. E.g; If a candidate have done B.Tech. in Civil Engineering he/she should choose CE GATE paper.

Q:   Can I write GATE for mechanical engineering after completing B.Tech in chemical engineering?

Yes, you can take GATE exam with mechanical. The GATE authority allows two paper combination for various papers in case any candidate wish to appear in more than one paper in the same year. Q:   Can I appear in more than one paper in GATE exam?

A:

Candidates are allowed to appear in any 2 papers of the 30 papers from the officially paired paper combinations in GATE 2025 exam. Candidates must choose carefully make the paper they wish to write. A candidate is expected to appear in a paper appropriate to the discipline of his/her qualifying degree. However, he/she is free to choose any paper according to his/her admission plan, keeping in mind the GATE eligibility criteria of the institutions in which he/she wishes to seek admission. How to Add a Secondary Paper after Submitting GATE 2025 Application Form?

If you have applied for one paper and submitted the GATE 2025 application form, you can still add a Paper II during the application process. To do that, follow the steps below -

  • Visit the official website of GATE- gate2025.iitr.ac.in
  • Click on the application form link at the GOAPS portal
  • Login using the credentials - enrollment ID, password, and captcha expression
  • Once you are logged in, an application status page will be displayed on the screen. With that, there is an option to add another paper displayed on the screen. You can click the add paper option and select from the options for GATE Paper II. 
  • Select the paper, pay using any payment mode, and submit the application form. This paper selection is considered your GATE Paper II or secondary paper. 

GATE 2025 Application Status

The GATE 2025 application status denotes the current status of your application form. It informs you whether your application is successfully submitted or not. Candidates can check their GATE application form status on the GOAPS portal. To check the status, candidates can follow the steps below -

  • Visit the official website - gate2025.iitr.ac.in
  • Click on the application link
  • Log in using the credentials - Enrollment ID and password
  • Once logged in, candidates can see their name and enrollment ID and the status of the registration form

Suppose any issue is related to the information provided in the GATE online form. In that case, the status will be displayed as "Application Under Scrutiny", which states that your application is under review. GATE 2025 Application Form Correction

The GATE 2025 application form registration is now closed. Candidates must note that the application status will be updated after scrutiny by the respective zonal GATE offices. Candidates can check the status of their application form anytime by logging into their GATE 2025 account. The GATE 2025 application form correction window was available from Oct 31 to November 20, 2024. For PwD applicants, the last date to access the correction facility was November 22, 2024. Candidates must promptly rectify defects in their application within the stipulated time. Candidates are advised to log into the Application Portal and check the status of the defects from time to time.

Candidates can change the details they have already filled out by paying a fee per change. However, they cannot change more than one detail for a single fee payment. Candidates can check the detail-wise modification/correction fee* in the table below. 

How to modify the already filled details?

IIT Roorkee opened the correction window for candidates who have submitted their GATE 2025 application form. For each correction candidates must pay the correction fee, please refer to the above table. Candidates can check the steps to make corrections;

Step 1: Visit the official website at gate2025.iitr.ac.in or click on the link above

Step 2: Click on the link that reads, ‘GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS),’ appearing on the page

Step 3: Enter your credentials, Password & GOAPS Enrollment ID, and log in

Step 4: Make corrections in the application form, as instructed.

Step 5: Click on the submit button after making the required changes.

Candidates are advised to download and take a printout of the newly submitted application form with changes made.

Q:   What if I have not submitted the photograph/signature with mentioned specifications in GATE 2025 Application form?

A:

Candidates must know that by doing so their application form will be marked DEFECTIVE. Candidates will be intimated by email, SMS or phone call from your respective Zone to RECTIFY your DEFECT (by uploading a new photograph). Candidates will be given chances for rectification up to the deadline, beyond which your application will either be considered as PROVISIONAL or REJECTED.

Q:   Can I change my category after submitting the GATE application form?

A:

Yes, Candidates will be given a correction window to change/ modify the already filled details in GATE application form. The application correction window will be activated on November 6, 2024. Candidates can change their category against a fee of INR 500. Candidates will not be able edit any detail after the correction window is closed.

Q:   I want to use my new name taken after the marriage. I have a photo ID with older name. Will my GATE application form be REJECTED?

A:

Candidate must upload the photo ID with old name along with an affidavit. Otherwise, his/her application will either be considered as PROVISIONAL or REJECTED. Also, he/she must carry an affidavit along with the photo ID to the examination hall.

How to make changes in the GATE 2025 paper?

Candidates must know they can change the papers in the GATE 2025 application form within a stipulated time frame. Candidates opting to appear in two test papers must have a primary and secondary choice of paper. Candidates can use the following steps to make changes in the GATE 2025 papers.

  • Visit the GATE 2025 website- gate2025.iitr.ac.ain
  • Click on the application form link and log in using the Enrollment ID and Password
  • Select the “Edit option” and make the required changes. 
  • Read the instructions, fill in the captcha code and make the payment.
  • Download the modified GATE 2025 application form and take the printout.

Q:   Can I change the subject papers after the submission of the GATE 2025 application form?

A:

Yes, Candidates will be given a correction window to change/ modify the already filled details in GATE application form.

Yes. You have a very high chances of getting selected in the  NIT Durgapur admission with such a great score. In 365 marks in GATE exam you can get admission but it depends on the cutoff which is not revealed yet. You can use Shiksha's rank predictor for that.
