Q:   How long is the GATE score valid for admission in M.Tech?

A:

The GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) score is valid for three years from the year of release for M.Tech admission purposes. According to the sources, candidates seeking admission to M.Tech programs at IITs, NITs, etc., or a job at top PSUs in India require GATE scores to be eligible for application. Additionally, the GATE score validity for PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) job aspirants is for only a year. Therefore, if candidates have qualified in the GATE 2025 exams, they are eligible for M.Tech admissions for the next three years after releasing the GATE results, but the scores to land a PSU job are valid for only a year. Therefore, candidates are advised to check the official website of the respective colleges or contact the admission cell of the colleges for the latest updates and notifications related to the admission process, eligibility criteria, courses offered, fees, cutoff, and other relevant details. Q:   What after the GATE 2025 Result?

A:

After the declaration of the GATE result, candidates can download their scorecard, which will be available for the qualified candidates. Successful candidates will take admissions for either M.Tech programs or PSU recruitment via GATE. GATE counselling is conducted by the COAP which stands for Common Offer Acceptance Portal for admission to IITs, and the CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech) for admission to M.Tech programs offered by NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, and CFTIs. Also, the cutoff is the minimum mark required by a candidate to pass the exam. The cutoff marks for GATE vary from stream to stream. Therefore, we can say that candidates have various options after the GATE exam. Earlier, candidates had the options for M.Tech admissions, but now there are several options for candidates who qualify for the GATE exam. GATE-qualified candidates are eligible for PSU recruitments and fellowships. In addition to this, he or she can also opt to study abroad. Q:   What is the importance of the GATE Scorecard and the benefits of appearing in the GATE exam?

A:
GATE scorecard is one of the most important documents for admission to Masters courses as well as for recruitment at various PSUs. GATE is one of the toughest and most competitive examinations in India. The GATE score of a candidate reflects his relative performance level. The score is used for admissions to various post-graduate education programs such as Master of Engineering, Master of Technology, or Doctor of Philosophy at higher education institutes in India, with financial assistance provided by the MHRD and other government agencies. GATE scores are also being used by several Indian public sector undertakings (government-owned companies) for recruiting graduate engineers for entry-level positions. A valid GATE score is essential for obtaining financial assistance during Masters programs and direct doctoral programs in engineering, technology, and architecture, and doctoral programs in relevant branches of Science in institutes supported by the MHRD or other government agencies. Benefits of appearing for the GATE exam are as follows: The advantages of taking the GATE exam are varied. Take a look at the most important reasons: - Whether you can get admission to top-notch M.Tech. , ME, or MS institutes depends largely on your GATE results. Doing a master's course at reputed Indian institutes also matters, as it gives you a chance to learn the core engineering concepts from the best faculty members in the country. - Opportunity to learn in a highly competitive environment, which thus develops and broadens the intellectual thought process. - Also, GATE is a qualifying test for several public sector undertakings (PSUs), including Power Grid, IOCL, etc. So, if a candidate wants a high paying job with the security of a PSU, GATE is the only option. Q:   What is the GATE 2025 normalization procedure?

A:

Normalization is basically done for the exams, that are conducted in multiple sessions. It depends on various factors, such as the difficulty levels of the question papers across the multiple sessions into account. Or we can say that the scores obtained by the students are then normalized based on the mean and standard deviation of the raw scores in their respective sessions. This will help to account for any variations in the difficulty level of the different Sets of question papers. It also ensures a fair evaluation of the candidate's performance. The GATE result of a qualified candidate indicates both the GATE score and the marks obtained by the candidate. Check how GATE normalized scores are calculated. Institutions conducting GATE use formulas for converting the marks of candidates into scores. As some papers are conducted in multiple sessions, to arrive at a normalized score for these multiple sessions, a suitable normalization formula is applied. The normalization is done on the basis of the fundamental assumption, which is that "in all multi-session GATE papers, the distribution of abilities of candidates is the same across all the sessions". This assumption is justified since the number of candidates giving multi-session papers in GATE is large. Also, the procedure for allocating sessions to candidates is random. In addition, it is also ensured that for the same multi-session paper, the number of candidates allotted in each session is of the same magnitude. Therefore, the GATE normalized marks calculator is used to calculate the GATE normalized score. Further, read in detail: https://www.shiksha.com/engineering/gate-exam-results.
