KVPY exam 2022 will not be conducted from this year onwards. The Department of Science and Technology has decided to club KVPY exam with INSPIRE fellowship.

KVPY Exam Pattern 2021 must be referred to by all the candidates appearing for the aptitude test, KVPY aptitude test is conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode and the question paper is in two languages— English and Hindi. The test consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. The total time duration of the test is 3 hours. 

In Part I of both the Streams, one mark is awarded for a correct response while 0.25 marks are deducted for an incorrect response. In Part II of Stream SA & Stream SB/SX, for each correct response, two marks are given to the candidates while 0.5 marks are deducted for an incorrect answer.

All the questions are compulsory in the SA stream (Science and Mathematics), while in SB/SX streams, aspirants can attempt any 3 sections from Part 1 and any 2 sections from part 2. There will be four sections in Part I (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics) and four sections in Part II (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics). In case, a candidate is able to attempt more sections, best of three in Part I and best of two in Part II are considered.

Students must go through the KVPY Syllabus 2021 and the KVPY exam pattern for effective preparation of the national-level scholarship examination.

There will be 80 questions divided in part 1 & 2 in this section.

  • Part 1 will include 60 questions of 1 mark each. Every incorrect answer will have a negative marking of 0.25 marks.

  • Part 2 will include 20 questions of 2 marks each. A negative marking of 0.5 marks will be done for each incorrect answer.

KVPY Pattern SB/SX

In SB and SX exams, there will be a total of 120 questions, out of which only 80 questions need to be answered which will carry 100 marks. For one mark questions, students will be marked down with 0.25 marks, while the questions of 2 marks will have a negative marking of 0.5.

The registration dates are easily available on the websites of these institutes.

Generally, the registration starts from the month of Deember for the upcoming batch for most of the colleges. And the last date is generally around March or April.
