The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the NEET 2024 counselling dates on July 29, 2024. The NEET 2024 counselling process will start with the registration window from August 14, 2024 onwards. As of now, MCC has announced the complete schedule of the first four rounds, which will be held till October 30, 2024. MCC will conduct NEET counselling for 1,09,170 MBBS and 27,868 BDS seats in India. The total number of BSc Nursing seats allotted through MCC NEET counselling 2024 will be around 1,000. Based on the number of vacant seats, MCC may conduct additional rounds of counselling.

As many as 13,15,853 candidates qualified for NEET 2024 out of 23,33,162 test takers, as per the revised merit list. According to the Supreme Court verdict, there will not be any Re-NEET 2024, as the paper leak was not widespread. The NEET UG 2024 re-examination was conducted on June 23, 2024, for 1,563 candidates who were awarded grace marks. The NEET 2024 Special Stray Vacancy Round 1 counselling was conducted from November 20 to November 30, 2024. The payment process was conducted from November 20 to November 21, 2024. The choice filling and locking rounds were held from November 20 to November 22, 2024. The provisional seat allotment result was declared on November 22, 2024, and the final result was declared on November 23, 2024, followed by the institute reporting process from November 25 to November 30, 2024.
MCC conducted the NEET 2024 counselling Round 4 from October 22 to November 5, 2024. The registration and choice filling process started on October 22 and October 23 respectively. The last dates of registration and choice filling and locking were extended till October 27 from October 25 and October 26 respectively. The provisional and final result was released on October 29 and October 30, 2024, respectively.
The Round 3 was conducted from October 3 to October 19, 2024.
The NEET 2024 counselling Round 2 concluded on September 27, 2024. The round started on September 13, 2024.

NTA declared the result for the re-NEET 2024 on July 1, 2024. The result was declared in online mode in the form of scorecards. Q: Who conducts NEET counselling?
The NEET counselling is segregated into two categories, central or national, and state counselling. The central counselling for NEET is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee or MCC. The NEET counselling process conducted by MCC is for the admission to the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats. On the other hand, State Authorities or the Education Department of various states conduct NEET state counselling for the 85 per cent state quota seats. MCC conducts the NEET counselling for MBBS BDS and B.Sc. Nursing courses. On the other hand, the State Counselling Authorities conduct the admission process for MBBS BDS BAMS, BHMS, and other medical or allied courses.
Q: What is the duration of NEET counselling?
The total duration of NEET counselling depends on the number of seats lying vacant at the end of the each round. Before each round of counselling, Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) releases the seat matrix or seat vacancy list. Once all the seats are filled, the counselling process of NEET will be considered complete. In general, the NEET UG counselling process ranges from two to three months. The duration of each round is around two to three weeks. The duration for the first two rounds is higher than that of the last two rounds. The last date may get extended based on the seat vacancy. The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the NEET 2024 re-revised scorecard and merit list along with the NEET 2024 final answer keys on July 26, 2024. The revision was made as per the Supreme Court of India verdict on July 23, 2024, which quashed the bonus marks given to all candidates who attempted the controversial Physics question in the NEET 2024 question paper. The IIT Delhi Committee opined that unlike the two correct answers stated by the NEET 2024 answer keys. Hence, after revoking the bonus marks and levying negative marks, the total number of toppers was reduced to 17.

NTA released the NEET 2024 city and centre-wise results, according to the Supreme Court directive on July 20, 2024. The data consists of the result of the total number of candidates appearing in each of the 4,750 centres spread across 557 cities in India and 14 cities abroad. While information such as the total number of candidates appearing in the centre and marks obtained by them is provided, candidates’ personal data such as name, application number of Roll Number is not given to mask their identities, as per the Supreme Court order.

The NEET 2024 re-exam result was declared on July 1, 2024, a day after the slated date. NTA released the revised NEET 2024 scorecard for all candidates, including the 1,563 candidates who were awarded grace marks. NTA has stated, "Revised Score Cards of all Candidates of NEET(UG) 2024 (including of 1563 Candidates who appeared in the Re-Test on 23 June 2024), are being hosted on the website (https://exams.nta.ac.in/NEET/). Candidates can login to the website and view/download/print their respective revised Score Cards."
The NEET 2024 result for the original test was declared on June 4, 2024.
NTA has reversed the tie-breaking criteria to last year's factors. In the revised criteria, the final factor was a computerised draw of lots, which replaced the subject-wise accuracy proportion of candidates, that was followed in the previous years.

NTA NEET 2024 Answer Key
The NEET 2024 revised final answer keys were released on July 26, 2024. Within this, the answer key of a Physics question has changed. As per the original answer key, one question had two correct answers, Option 2 and Option 4. As per the Supreme Court ruling, only answer Option 4 was stated as correct.

Based on the NEET UG answer keys, candidates can determine the number of correct attempts in the NEET UG paper and calculate the estimated score.
For the original exam, The NEET 2024 provisional answer key was released by NTA on May 30, approximately a month after the exam is conducted. Candidates could submit challenges or objections against one or more NEET UG answer keys by paying a fee of INR 200. The expert committee of NTA analysed the objections and then released the final NEET UG answer keys for all question paper sets and codes on June 4, 2024.

NEET UG Question Papers
Being a paper-pencil-based test (PBT), NTA provides the hard copy of the NEET question papers to candidates on the day of the exam. The NTA NEET question papers have four sets, which are further divided into six subsets. The NEET 2024 question paper sets were Q, R, S and T. The medium of the question paper is 13. Candidates have to select their preferred NEET question paper language while filling up the application form and must ensure that they receive the question paper of the language opted for by them. Test-takers were allowed to carry the NEET question paper outside the exam centre after the exam. NTA also releases the set-wise and language-wise question papers of NEET on its official website a few months after the exam is conducted. NTA NEET 2024 Syllabus
As mentioned before, the NEET UG syllabus 2024 underwent major changes. The NEET syllabus 2024 PDF download was released on the official website of NTA, along with the FAQs, as per the recommendation by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Unlike the previous years, the subjects of the NTA NEET 2024 syllabus were not segregated into Class 11 and Class 12. Certain topics or chapters have been removed from each subject. Announcing the changes, NTA stated, "Those topics which are neither being taught anywhere in the School Board nor available in the latest book of NCERT, have been deleted. The syllabus has been revised and reduced to focus on core concepts." On the other hand, regarding the addition of topics, the exam conducting body has mentioned, "Some topics have been added as these are being taught in various School Boards i.e. Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Bihar School Education Board, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education, Nagaland Board of School Education, Board of Secondary Education Manipur."
NEET UG 2024 Exam Pattern
NEET UG is a paper-pencil-based exam of 200 minutes duration. There are 200 objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology, out of which 180 questions have to be attempted. Each question will carry four answer options. Candidates have to mark the correct answer option with a blue or black ballpoint pen on the OMR sheet, inside the circle next to the correct answer option.

NTA NEET 2024 Application Form
The NEET UG 2024 application form date was announced by NTA along with the official notification and information brochure. NTA reopened the NEET 2024 application correction facility for the third time from April 25 to April 26, 2024, 11.59 PM, only for the field of photographs. Earlier, the correction window was opened from April 11 to April 12, till 11.50 PM, Aadhaar-authenticated candidates could make changes related to Aadhaar-related authentication corrections till April 15, before 11.50 PM.
NTA reopened the NEET 2024 application process from April 9 to April 10, 2024, 10.50 PM. The application fee had to be paid by 11.50 PM on the same date. Announcing the same, NTA stated, “We have received various representations from stakeholders with a request to re-open the registration window of NEET-UG 2024. Based on the representation, it has been decided to re-open the Registration window of NEET-UG 2024.”
The application process for NEET UG was conducted online wherein candidates had to visit the official website of NTA NEET UG 2024 and register. NEET 2024 Eligibility Criteria
The NEET UG 2024 eligibility criteria changed this year as candidates who have not studied Biology or Biotechnology as core subjects are eligible to participate. Till last year, only those candidates who had studied these as core subjects were permitted to appear for NEET.
In terms of the NEET 2024 eligibility criteria, candidates who studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology and English as additional subjects were also considered eligible to appear for the exam. On the other hand, students studying at Open Schools will also be eligible for NEET UG 2024 based on the revised eligibility criteria.
Also, those who completed or were yet to appear for their Class 12 Board exam or equivalent from Open Schools were also considered eligible for NTA NEET 2024. Apart from these, there were no other changes in the NEET UG eligibility criteria. Regarding the changes in the NEET 2024 eligibility criteria, NMC stated, "Candidates who have passed 10+2 or its equivalent with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Biotechnology & English shall be eligible for appearing in NEET-UG."
The overall NEET UG eligibility criteria 2024 are stated below.
- Candidates should have passed or scheduled to appear for the Class 12 Board exam or equivalent with Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Biotechnology and English subjects
- Candidates belonging to the General category should have secured a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate and reserved category candidates should secure 45 per cent (General-PWD) and 40 per cent (SC, ST, OBC, Reserved PWD)
- Candidates must have attained the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will attain the same by December 31, 2024. Accordingly, the minimum date of birth of candidates should be December 31, 2007. There is no upper age limit.
- Indian nationals/ Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) who wish to pursue MBBS/BDS from a foreign university also have to qualify for NTA NEET 2024.
The NEET UG 2024 exam was originally held on May 5, 2024, from 2 PM to 5.20 PM in 4,751 centres in 571 cities across India and abroad. The NEET 2024 result and the final NEET 2024 answer keys were released by NTA on June 4, 2024.
