Entrance Exams for MSc

Some of the top MSc entrance exams are discussed below:

1. NEST: Students willing to seek entry into MSc Mathematics, Chemistry, or Biology should appear for the NEST, i.e., National Entrance Screening Test. It is conducted by NISER Mumbai and helps students get admission into the respective MSc courses in Maharashtra. Questions of both MCQ and MSQ types are asked in the exam from the PCMB group. The syllabus of the 11th and 12th Classes should be studied deeply to excel in this exam.

2. IIT JAM: It is a national-level online entrance test that helps students seek admission into PG courses in IISC Bengaluru and IITs. It is a computer-based test that requires candidates to score at least 50% in BSc if they are from ST/SC/PwD categories and 55% if they are from General or OBC categories. It consists of 20 NAT, 30 MCQ, and 10 MSQ type questions for 100 marks. Questions on Maths, Geology, Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics, and Biotechnology are asked. One must go through the curriculum of BSc and 11th and 12th classes to gain a deep understanding of the concepts on which the questions are asked.

3. IPU CET 2022: Conducted by Indraprastha University, IPU CET helps candidates get admission into the PG courses offered by the university. It is an online exam that is conducted in 150 minutes hours. It consists of MCQ-type questions and covers the syllabus of General Knowledge, Computer, Maths, and English of the 12th Class.

4. SAAT 2022: SAAT exam is conducted by SOA, and the students who want to take admission into the MSc courses offered by various universities and colleges in India can appear in the exam. A minimum of 50% in the graduation course is required for the candidates of the General categories, whereas the candidates of the SC, ST, and OBC categories need to score a minimum of 45% at the graduate level. It consists of 120 MCQ-type questions that are to be answered in 3 hours. The questions will be based on computer fundamentals, GK, verbal and analytical reasoning, general science and numerical aptitude. A thorough understanding of English is a must to excel in this exam.

Syllabus for Distance Program in MSc

MSc can also be completed via distance education in India. Approximately 110 educational institutes and colleges across the country offer the distance programme in MSc. Some of the specialisations include Geoinformatics, Physics, Biotechnology, Biology, Mathematics, etc. The syllabus is similar to the regular MSc syllabus. The candidates have to excel in both internal and external exams. Internal exams can be given from any location but external exams are only conducted through exam centres. The performance is also evaluated on the basis of assignments.

MSc courses are of 2 years in regular mode, but in distance learning mode, it can be stretched up to 4 years. It is because the students who have enrolled in distance learning programmes might not be able to devote as much time to learning as regular students do.
