IBPS Clerk exam is conducted for recruitment to the post of Clerks in the 11 participating banks. This is one of most sought-after banking exams in the country. A candidate must be either:
(i) A citizen of India or
(ii) A subject of Nepal or
(iii) A subject of Bhutan or
(iv) A Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India or

Important Points Related to Age Relaxation
- Candidates seeking age relaxation will be required to submit necessary certificates in original/ copies at the time of joining and at any subsequent stage of the recruitment process as required by IBPS/ participating banks
- Candidates for bank Clerk age limit relaxation are required to provide caste /category certificate issued by the competent authority in the prescribed format in case of SC / ST / OBC/ PWBD category candidates
- In case of candidates belonging to OBC category, the certificate should specifically contain a clause that the candidate does not belong to the creamy layer section excluded from the benefits of reservation for Other Backward Classes in Civil posts & services under the Government of India
- Candidates belonging to OBC category but coming under the creamy layer are not entitled to OBC reservation for IBPS Clerk exam

Q: Can IBPS Clerk become PO?
IBPS Clerk cannot be internally recruited as a Probationary Officer since POs are directly recruited. However, clerks can shift to the officer cadre as TOs (Trainee Officers) or JMGS-1 (Junior Management Grade Officer Scale -1). Candidates are directly recruited as Clerks and Officers, after their respective exams and interviews.
Q: Is there any interview for IBPS Clerk selection?
There is no interview in IBPS Clerk exam. The selection process comprises two stages-prelims and Mains. Candidates qualifying the prelims exam are called for the Mains exam. The final selection of candidates is done based on the Mains exam. The marks obtained in the Mains exam are not counted for final selection. Final-year students cannot apply for the IBPS Clerk Exam. Candidates need to have graduation mark sheet on the date of application. As per the notification, the minimum qualification require candidates to have a graduation degree or equivalent from a recognised university. Candidates between 20 and 28 Years can apply for the IBPS Clerk post. There are certain age relaxations given to candidates belonging to reserved categories. As per the official notification, Candidates belonging to some category are given age relaxation like SC/ST (predetermined caste/predetermined tribe) 5 years, OBC (another backward classes-non-cream tier) 3 years, Disabled (PwD) 10 years Former service staff, including Emergency Situation Officer (ECO)/Short Service Officer (SSCO).
IBPS Clerk Eligibility for Ex-Servicemen
- Ex-Servicemen candidates who have already secured employment under the Central Government in Group ‘C’ & ‘D’ will be permitted the benefit of age relaxation as prescribed for Ex-Servicemen for securing another employment in a higher grade or cadre in Group ‘C’/ ‘D’ under the Central Government. However, such candidates will not be eligible for the benefit of reservation on a second occasion for Ex-Servicemen in Central Government jobs
- Candidates who are still in the Armed Forces and desirous of applying under Ex-Servicemen category whose date of completion of a specific period of engagement (SPE) is completed one year from the last date for receipt of online application i.e. on or before are eligible to apply
- If an ex-serviceman applies for various vacancies before joining any civil employment, he/she can avail the benefit of reservation as ex-serviceman for any subsequent employment. However, to avail of this benefit, an ex-serviceman as soon as he/she joins any civil employment, should give a self-declaration/ undertaking to the concerned employer about date-wise details of application for various vacancies for which he/she had applied for before joining the initial civil employment. Further, this benefit would be available only in respect of vacancies which are filled on direct recruitment and wherever reservation is applicable to the ex-serviceman

IBPS Clerk 2024 Qualification as of July 21, 2024
Candidates must possess graduation or equivalent qualification in any discipline. According to the IBPS Clerk qualification, candidates in the final year of graduation are not eligible to apply for the exam. They must have their marksheets on the day they register for the exam.

A person's inability to execute distinctive activities associated with movement of self and objects resulting from affliction of the musculoskeletal or nervous system or both, including Cerebral Palsy, Leprosy Cured, Dwarfism, Muscular Dystrophy and Acid Attack Victims. Orthopedically challenged persons are covered under locomotor disability with the following benchmark:
- OA - One arm affected (Right or Left)
- OL - One leg affected (Right or Left)
- OAL - One arm & One Leg affected
- BL - Both legs affected but not arms
QA and OAL Category-
- Persons with OA and OAL category should have normal bilateral hand functions. Leprosy cured person means a person who has been cured of leprosy
- Loss of sensation in hands or feet as well as loss of sensation and paresis in the eye and eye-lid but with no manifest deformity
- Manifest deformity and paresis but having sufficient mobility in their hands and feet to enable them to engage in normal economic activity
- Extreme physical deformity as well as advanced age which prevents him/her from undertaking any gainful occupation, and the expression leprosy cured shall be construed accordingly
- Cerebral palsy is a Group of non-progressive neurological conditions affecting body movements and muscle coordination, caused by damage to one or more specific areas of the brain, usually occurring before, during or shortly after birth
- Dwarfism means a medical or genetic condition resulting in an adult height of 4 feet 10 inches (147 centimetres) or less;
Muscular dystrophy is a group of hereditary genetic muscle diseases that weakens the muscles that move the human body and persons with multiple dystrophy have incorrect and missing information in their genes, which prevents them from making the proteins they need for healthy muscles. It is characterised by progressive skeletal muscle weakness, defects in muscle proteins, and the death of muscle cells and tissue - Acid attack victims means a person disfigured due to violent assaults by throwing of acid or similar corrosive substance
Visually Impaired Person Category [IV]
Visually Impaired category [IV] person who suffers from the below-mentioned problems meets the IBPS Clerk eligibility.
Blindness
- Visual acuity less than 3/60 or less than 10/200 (Snellen) in the better eye with best possible correction; OR
- A total absence of sight; OR
- Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of less than 10 degrees.
Low Vision
- Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of less than 40 degrees up to 10 degrees
Hearing Impaired Person
- Any person having 70 decibels of hearing loss in speech frequencies in both ears
- Any person having 60- 70 decibels of hearing loss in speech frequencies in both ears
Intellectual Disability [ID] category
Candidates with the below-mentioned disorders are allowed to appear for the exam:
- Intellectual disability
- Autism Spectrum disorder (ASD)
- Specific Learning Disability
- Mental Illness
- Multiple Disabilities
Only those persons with benchmark disabilities will be eligible for reservation. Benchmark disability means a person with not less than 40 per cent of a specified disability where specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms and includes the persons with disability, where disability has been defined in measurable terms, as certified by the certifying authority.
A person who wants to avail the benefit of reservation will have to submit a disability certificate issued by a Competent Authority as per Government of India guidelines. Such certificate will be subject to verification/re-verification as may be decided by the competent authority.
