UPPSC PCS 2023 Eligibility: UPPSC PCS 2023 notification will be released today. The Commission will notify all the UPPSC 2023 eligibility conditions in the official notification. The candidates must read the official notification to get the details of UPPCS eligibility 2023. The eligibility conditions given in the official notification will be applicable till the completion of the exam. The Commission can cancel the candidature of the candidate at any moment in case of non-conformity to the eligibility conditions. This is why the candidates must ensure that they conform to the UPPSC eligibility criteria mentioned in the notification. 

Earlier, the Commission released the UPPSC exam calendar 2023 mentioning the exam dates for the UPPSC prelims exam 2023. The Commission will conduct the UPPSC prelims exam 2023 on May 14. The Commission will release the UPPCS eligibility components such as educational qualification, age limit, attempts and the age-relaxations provided to the reserved category candidate in the official notification. 

Q:   How can I apply for UPPCS Exam 2024?

A:

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission released the UPPSC 2024 applications on January 1, 2024. The candidates are required to apply online on uppsc.up.nic.in. The last date to apply for the UPPSC 2024 exam is February 2, 2024. The candidates should note that the last date to submit the application fee is January 29, 2024. The Commission is expected to conduct the UPPSC 2024 prelims exam in March 2024.

The Commission will also provide the UPPSC 2024 application correction facility till Feburary 9, 2024. The candidates are required to read the official notification to get all the details for the UPPSC 2024 application.

Q:   How many attempts are there in UPPCS Exam?

A:
The candidates need not to worry about the number of attempts in the UPPSC PCS exam because there is no limit to the number of attempts in the exam. The candidates can appear in the UPPSC PCS exam till they confirm to the age limit criteria as prescribed in the official notification. The upper age limit is the only restriction for applying. The upper age limit for the General Category candidates is 40 years. The Commission also provide age relaxation to the reserved category candidates.

Q:   Can State PCS Officers be promoted to IAS?

A:
The State PCS Officers can be promoted to the IAS subject to certain conditions laid down by UPSC. Every year, out of the total vacancies of IAS (in a state), 33% is filled through the promotion. The minimum years of service is 12 years. Only after completing this much years in service, the candidate become eligible for such promotion. The UPSC will form a Committee for the promotion in the Chairmanship of UPSC member. States Chief Secretary will also be the member of that Committee.

UPPSC PCS eligibility criteria are one of the most important components of the UPPSC 2023 notification and all the candidates must understand the eligibility for the exam so that they will not be surprised at the later stage of the exam. There are reported cases where the candidate was rendered ineligible for certain posts at the time of service allocation.

UPPSC PCS 2023 Education Qualification

The educational requirement for all the posts of the UPPCS 2023 exam except for some specialised positions is a bachelor's degree of any recognised university from any discipline with any percentage of marks. There is no bar for the candidates having a passing percentage only in the graduation exam.

The candidates who are in the final year of their Bachelor's Degree program are also eligible to fill out the UPPSC 2023 form but with a condition that they have to submit the self-attested certificate at the time of the Detail Application Form (DAF) submission for the UPPPSC main exam.

UPPCS is the premiere exam of the State and the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission conduct this exam every year. Any Graduate from a recognised university or institution can apply for the UPPSC PCS exam. The candidates need to check the UPPSC eligibility conditions as mentioned in the official notification. The upper age limit for the UPPCS exam is 40 years for the General Category candidate.

The minimum qualifying marks for UPPSC exam vary for different categories, with SC/ST candidates required to score 35% in both the Prelims and Mains exams, while other categories must score 40% in both stages. The cut off marks are determined by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) based on various factors, including the number of vacancies, the difficulty level of the exam, and the normalization process to maintain uniformity.

The cut off marks are released stage-wise and category-wise on the official website of UPPSC after the exams are conducted.

Q:   What qualification is required to become a UPPCS officer?

The qualification required to become a PCS officer is a Graduate degree from any recognised university or institution. The Commission releases the notification every year and mentions that the educational qualification required to become a PCS officer is a graduate. There is no minimum percentage mentioned for the candidates. It implies that the candidates having any percentage in the Graduation degree can apply for the UPPCS exam. All the candidates who are Graduate and confirm to the age criteria can apply for the UPPSC PCS exam.

A. UPPSC PCS is considered as one of the toughest exams in the state. The Age limit for UPPSC PCS exam is different for the different categories. It is defined as follows Lower Age limit is 21 years Upper Age Limit is 40 years The age of the candidates is counted as on July 1 of the exam year. The age is counted from January 1 of the exam year. The Commission provides relaxation in the upper age limit to candidates belonging to the reserve categories.

But there are various specialised positions and these positions required special educational qualifications. The following are the positions which require a peculiar educational qualification.

Age Limit for the UPPSC PCS Exam

The age limit for the UPPSC PCS exam is as follows

Lower age limit: 21 Years

Upper age limit: 40 Years

The candidates born before July 2, 1983, and after July 1, 2002, are not eligible to appear in the UPPSC 2023 exam.

The commission also provides the age relaxation to the candidates belonging to the reserved categories as follows.

The person having over one living wife/husband shall not be eligible for this exam unless the Honourable Governor has granted an exemption from this condition.

This can be one reason that the UPPCS is considered easier than UPSC but in reality there is not much difference and both the exam required dedicated preparation.

A. It is a very subjective consideration. Each candidate should assess his or her potential and weaknesses by analysing the previous year question papers and decide accordingly.  The candidates should take advice from seniors, mentors and see the Toppers videos for the right strategy and plans. In case, the candidates need feels that he or she needs guidance, then he or she must join the coaching. 

Q: Is SDM and PCS same?

A: In most cases, the person working as the Sub-Divisional Magistrate is a PCS officer but in some cases the IAS probationers work as a SDM during their probation (training period) and during their initial years of working in the field.
