Q: Will the JAM 2024 application form undergo scrutiny and rectification?
IIT JAM 2024 applications shall be scrutinized to verify the data entered by the candidate with the submitted supporting documents, clarity of the photograph and signature. If everything is found to be in order, the application will be accepted. Otherwise, defects in the application will be marked and intimated to the candidate for rectification within a stipulated time. The status of the application and defects marked in the application will be intimated to the candidates through e-mail and/or SMS. The latest status of an application will be updated after the receipt and re-scrutiny of the application.
The status of an application can be checked at any point of time by logging in JOAPS. Candidates should rectify the marked defects in the application before the stipulated deadline. Failing to rectify the defects within the stipulated time can lead to the rejection
of the application.
Q: How to pay IIT JAM 2024 application fee?
Candidates will be able to make the payment using net-banking, debit or credit card or UPI until October 13, 2023. Before proceeding for making any payment, applicants should view their application by clicking the "Save and View" button. Once a candidate clicks “Proceed for Payment” button, NO FURTHER CHANGES in the application form can be made and the candidate will be directed to the payment portal.
On the fee payment portal, the fee amount and bank charges will be shown and the candidate has to confirm that the payment is for JAM 2024. Once confirmed and payment is successful, the candidate will be redirected back to the JOAPS Website, where it shows confirmation of the fee payment. If the candidate had selected only ONE Test Paper, there will be an option to choose a second Test Paper. If candidates desire to do so, they can proceed by paying the additional amount for second Test Paper.

IIT Madras, the examination conducting body of IIT JAM 2024 has extended the deadline of JAM 2024 registration to October 25, 2023. Earlier the last date for filling up the JAM 2024 application form was October 13, 2023, which was later extended to October 20. IIT JAM 2025 Application Form Documents Required
Before paying the IIT JAM 2025 registration fee, the most important step in the application form is uploading the IIT JAM 2025 documents that are being requested by the exam authority on the web portal. The exam authority will not ask for any graduation or category certificates to be uploaded. However, candidates are required to upload the following documents:
- Scanned copy of 10th standard (SSC) Mark sheet.
- High-quality image of the candidate’s photograph and signature.
- Scanned copy of the Category (OBC-NCL/EWS/SC/ST) Certificate (if applicable).
- Scanned copy of Physical Disability Certificate (if applicable) or Unique Disability Identification (UDID) certificate
- Details of the Photo Identity Document (ID). Any one of the following Photo ID: Aadhaar ID, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport, or Voter ID. The specified Photo Id, in original, should be carried by the candidate to the examination centre.

The photograph must match with your appearance on the day of the examination in the following dimensions:

While uploading the signature of the candidate, the following details are needed to be kept in mind:

IIT JAM Application Form 2025: Caste Certificate Dimensions
Please upload valid OBC (NCL)/EWS/SC/ST/PwD Category Certificate in the JOAPS portal on or before March 31, 2025. Candidates who belong to the following categories need to upload a valid category and/or PwD certificate:
- For OBC-NCL, EWS, SC and ST categories, certificate issued ONLY by authorized officials shall be valid.
OBC-NCL and EWS certificates should be submitted in the prescribed format and should have been issued on or after April 1, 2024. If you are not able to upload a valid OBC-NCL / EWS Category Certificate in the JOAPS portal as soon as possible, Otherwise your category will be automatically changed to "GENERAL" Category and your application will NOT be rejected.
NOTE: Candidates should upload a scanned copy of the relevant certificate in PDF format of file size in the range 10 KB to 300 KB. Candidates shall be required to submit the same certificate during Admissions and also to the Admitting Institute.
IIT JAM 2025 Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria stipulate minimum qualifications, typically a bachelor's degree with a specified percentage of marks or equivalent qualifying exams. This threshold ensures a baseline level of academic preparedness among entrants, thereby safeguarding the quality of postgraduate education.
Prior to filling out the IIT JAM 2025 application form, aspirants must ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria in order to not lose their candidature in IIT 2025 admission process.
- In order to fulfil the IIT JAM 2025 eligibility criteria, candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree.
- Candidates who have appeared or will appear for their graduation exams in 2025 are also eligible to apply, provided they submit the proof by September 2025.
- For the admission process, candidates who pass the IIT JAM 2025 exam will be eligible to apply for the admission process.
Till the year 2021, the eligibility criteria for IIT JAM stated that candidates should secure a minimum 55 per cent aggregate or 5.5 CGPA/CPI out of 10 for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS category candidates and 50 per cent aggregate or 5.0 CGPA/CPI for the reserved category candidates. However, from 2022 onwards, this criterion was relaxed. Now, applicants will have to get a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject, and no eligibility cutoff is there.
