Q:   How was the IIT JAM 2024 exam difficulty level?

A:

IIT JAM 2024 exam shift 1 was found to be moderately easy by maximum candidates who appeared for Mathematics, Chemistry, and Geology subjects. Questions were designed in such a manner to test their analytical and practical approach of the concerned subject. Maximum number of candidates who have appeared in the IIT JAM 2024 exam had their first attempt in the examination. The Chemistry section has been rated as easy to moderate. Some of the topics included Molar Conductivity, Magnetic Moments, Titration, Bonds, etc. As per some candidates, the MCQ questions were tougher than the MSQs and NAT questions. The Geology section has questions from topics such as geomorphology, mineralogy, and petrology were moderately difficult.  

Q:   What is the difficulty level of IIT JAM examination?

A:

The difficulty level of IIT JAM is moderate to tough. The difficulty level for subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics is tougher as compared to the IIT JAM subjects of Economics, Biotechnology and Geology.

If we compare the difficulty level of IIT JAM 2024 examination with CUET PG exam, ISI Admission test, NEST exam, IISER Entrance examination, then it will be found that IIT JAM 2024 examination is comparetively tougher than the other top colleges/ universities entrance examination.

Q:   How is the IIT JAM 2024 Merit List made?

A:

For each Test Paper, an All India Merit list will be prepared based on AIR. The number of candidates included in the All India Merit List will depend on the total number of seats available in each category (GEN/ OBC-NCL/ EWS/ SC/ ST/ PwD) in a given subject. These candidates  (henceforth called Qualified Candidates) are eligible to apply for admission to any of the
corresponding academic programmes. The JAM 2024 Scorecard indicating the AIR and the mark obtained by the candidate will be available for download from the JAM 2024 website from April 02, 2024 to July 31, 2024 for qualified candidates.

Below are some important preparation tips that are helpful for the candidates who are preparing for the IIT JAM 2024 examination:

Know your syllabus: Go through the syllabus carefully to get an idea of the whole exam. Get clarity regarding the content of the study. By going through the IIT JAM syllabus, you will get an idea of high-priority and least-priority topics, and you can prioritize your study accordingly.

A:

IIT JAM 2024 Exam Analysis

  1. Paper was found to be moderately tough.
  2. Numerical Answer Type (NAT) found to be very difficult by most of the IIT JAM 2024 Mathematics candidates.
  3. MCQ questions that were asked in the section A and section B were also found to be very difficult to answer. More tricky types questions were asked.

A:

The exam difficulty level as compared from previous year was easu, however, the questions came this year were quite lengthy. NAT type questions took longer time to solve. In macroeconomics, ISLM had the maximum weightage and many questions were there on matrices. The IIT JAM 2024 Economics cut off will be higher than last year cut off.

Memory Based Questions: Two questions were on producer and consumer surplus graph (standard supply demand graph). Candidates were need to find the value of the surplus and change in the surplus.

Candidates who appeared in the IIT JAM 2024 Exam for 7 MSc courses found the exam moderate. Questions were designed in such a manner to test their analytical and practical approach of the concerned subject. Maximum number of candidates who have appeared in the IIT JAM 2024 exam had their first attempt in the examination. Being their first attempt, the difficulty level of the IIT JAM 2024 exam was found to be moderate easy.

IIT JAM Shift 1 Analysis

Mayank Shukla: The overall difficulty level of IIT JAM 24 Mathematics subject was found to be moderate. The topics which were found to lengthy were Group Theory and Integral Calculus. Most of the questions came from the subject group theory.

Memory Based Questions: Exception and ranges between the sn in the group theory.

Kushal: Appeared for IIT JAM 2024 Mathematics subject. The overall exam difficulty level was found be higher than the previous year. Most of the questions body found to be lengthy and were not one-liners or directly topic-based. More of an analytical approach was needed to answer the questions. Applied mathematics questions were asked more. Group theory subject questions were more frequently asked. IIT JAM 2024 Cut off for Mathematics will be around 20-25.

Tanu: JAM 2024 exam difficulty level was easy to moderate for Mathematics subject. Differential Equation topics were asked in the examination. JAM 2024 Mathematics cut off expected to be in the range of 30-40.

Pragati: Moderate-level questions were asked from differential equations in JAM 2024 Mathematics exam. Linear transformation and liner algebra questions were also asked. The mathematics question paper was lengthy

Khushi: IIT JAM 2024 Biotechnology exam difficulty level was moderate. In Biology questions from Immunology, Genetics, Recombinant DNA Technology topics were asked.
