Our college gives good value for money with great placements.
Placements: A good percentage of students get placed in our college and few go for Ph.D. Around 40% of students got placed in 2018 and about 60% of students went for higher studies. Every student gets an internship at the same place during this course.
Infrastructure: Many facilities are available in our college like projectors in classrooms, very good labs, and satisfying Wi-Fi in the department. Hostels are good and serve good food. It provides facilities like a washing machine and indoor and outdoor sports. Wi-Fi provided in the hostel is not good. Labs are good. The library consists of a lot of reference books and is a very good place to study.
Faculty: All the teachers in our college are well qualified with Ph.D. abroad. The course curriculum is vast and relevant. It makes students industry-ready. Exams are moderate. Every student passes semester exams.
Other: I chose this course because photonics is an emerging subject with a lot of potentials. The best thing about our course is that it is a very demanding course. Wi-Fi facilities should be improved on campus.

Review of CUSAT - Cochin University of Science and Technology.
Placements: There is no placement cell because companies have stopped coming to our department since 2018 because most students were going for higher studies like Ph.D., M.Tech., MS, etc. Most students are working in different parts of India and foreign countries, except for some who have diverted from the field. Students are working as scientists, professors, and engineers. Interested students can go for internships if they get the chance. The department encourages it.
Infrastructure: UG labs are not that good, especially electronics labs, but photonics, optics, and laser labs are good, air-conditioned, and well-maintained. The condition of Wi-Fi is also not that good. You won't get range in the classrooms. The department library is very good. You get all the books that are required for the course. The university library is also good. Classrooms are manageable. All classrooms have projectors, whiteboards, etc. Government hostels are available based on your distance from the university. The facilities in hostels are average. Wi-Fi is available, but only at a speed of 100 kbps. The mess is controlled by students. Only Kerala-style food is available in the hostel mess, but you get good-quality food at a low price from the canteen. Medical facilities are available. Sports and games facilities are also available.
Faculty: All faculty members are highly qualified. Some of them were teachers at IISC, IIST, and IIT. The only problem is that some of the visiting faculty members are not very good. They are well qualified, but their teaching quality is not good. All professors and assistant professors are great. The course curriculum is very good. The department updates the syllabus every two years based on current industrial requirements. The difficulty level of semester exams is average. There is a good pass percentage.
Other: I chose this course because it is in an emerging field, and I am interested in research. The experience and connections you get from the university are wonderful and wide.
