IIT Bombay Courses & Fees 2025: UG & PG, Fees, Eligibility

BTech is the flagship course of IIT Bombay. It is a four-year full-time course offered at the UG level. NIRF ranked IIT Bombay at 3 under the 'Engineering' category. Talking about placement, the highest international and domestic package offered during IIT Bombay placements 2023 stood at INR 3.67 crore per annum and INR 1.68 crore per annum, respectively. Further, the average package offered during IIT Bombay placements 2023 stood at INR 21.82 LPA. 

For 2022, cut off was 61 for General category candidates in All India quota for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering in IIT Bombay - Indian Institute of Technology. For female candidates in general category under All India quota, 305 was the closing rank. B.Tech cut off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant.

IIT Bombay fee is cumulative of various components, in which, some are one-time paid while others are paid semester-wise. The components included in the fee structure are tuition fee, caution deposit, hostel and mess charges. Students after counselling need to pay the course fee amount for seat confirmation.

The IIT Bombay BTech tuition fee ranges between INR 8 lakh and INR 20 lakh. Additionally, the caution deposit is INR 14,900. The hostel fee without mess is INR 99,600 and with mess is INR 1.81 lakh. NTA released the JEE Main application form 2025 session 1 on October 28, 2024. The JEE Main 2025 registration date was October 28 to November 22, 2024. JEE Main 2025 application form was available online on the website jeemain.nta.nic.in. As the JEE Mains 2025 exam will be conducted in two sessions, NTA will release session 2 application form on  January 31, 2025.

The total seat intake for MA by Research is 20. This seat intake is as per the 2022-2023 sanctioned strength. Additionally, the seats are reserved for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)/Other Backward Class Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL)/Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwD).

IIT Bombay JEE Advanced Cutoff 2024 was released in the form of opening and closing cutoff ranks. Normally, the number of seats is directly proportionate to the Cutoff ranks. Also, it is observed that as the number of applicants increase, the Cutoff rank also increases. NIT Manipur JEE Main cutoff 2024 has been released for admission to the BTech courses. During the Round 1 cutoff, the closing rank for CSE was 25886 for the General category students under the AII India Quota. Among OBC candidates, the closing rank for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering stood at 8750. Candidates wishing to get into BTech course of IIT Bombay have to qualify for JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced. The selected candidates based on JEE score are allotted seat through JoSAA Counselling. Candidates who have completed Class 12 with a minimum of 75% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are eligible to apply for JEE Main. BTech course aspirants have to apply through JEE Main by filling out an application form through the National Testing Agency (NTA) official website (nta.ac.in). The application fee for boys is INR 1,000 and INR 800 for girls (general/gen-EWS/OBC (NCL) category). Followed by JEE Main, students have to register for JEE Advanced. For this, candidates have to first login with their JEE Main 2023 application number and password. • Candidates are required to pass a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% aggregate in case of SC/ ST/ PwD candidates) or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PWD category) out of 10 or applicants appearing for the final year of degree or completed the degree and awaiting result can also apply or,
• Aspirants appearing for final year of the degree and those who have completed the degree requirements and awaiting results can also apply. The applicant should have secured an aggregate of 60% aggregate (55% aggregate in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD category) or equivalent till the latest exam that has been completed and whose scores are available or,
• CA, CS, CFA, ICWA or FRM, with a first-class bachelor’s degree in any discipline having secured 60% aggregate (55% aggregate in case of candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PWD category) in aggregate (including all years /semesters) or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PWD category) out of 10 can also apply for MBA programme.

Yes, IIT Bombay IDC reserves seats for various categories. Below is the category-wise reservation:

Admission to the institute after Class 12 is open for BTech, BS and BDes courses. After completing Class 12, candidates must qualify JEE Main, JEE Advanced followed by the JoSAA Counselling for BTech and BS courses. For BDes, UCEED score is required for admission.

IIT Bombay accepts GATE score for admission to MTech course. Candidates must have a BE/ BTech/ BSc/ Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Planning/ MSc/ MCA/ MBBS/ MPharm/ BPharma/ BDS/ degree recognised equivalent to BE/ BTech with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD category). For MTech General-All India, cut offs for GATE 2024 closed off at score 600 for MTech in Chemical Engineering and 750 for Computer Science and Engineering. Similarly, for MTech in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, the GATE score closed off on 650. 

No, admission to IIT Bombay BTech is through JEE Main/Advanced only, there is no separate application fee of the institute. To take the JEE Mains examination, aspirants need to pay the application fee. The category-wise application fee amount is as follows:

• INR 1,000  (Male unreserved/OBC/EWS category)
• INR 800  (Female unreserved/OBC/EWS category)
• INR 500  (SC/ST/PwD/Transgender category)

Moreover, students who qualify Mains become eligible to take the JEE Advanced exam. The application fee for JEE Advanced is INR 1,600 for female and reserved category candidates, and INR 3,200 for all other candidates.

The fee payment can be done online through credit/debit card and internet banking. The application is not considered submitted until the application fees is paid.

According to the IIT Bombay cutoff 2024, the last round closing rank was 68 for BTech in CSE course. In 2023 and 2022, the last round cutoff closed at 67 and 61, respectively for BTech in CSE. NCERT Books: Candidates must begin their preparation by going through NCERT Books. Read these books carefully and complete all of the back exercises. Try the 'example problems' as well for more practice with objective questions.

Make a weekly plan: Make a schedule for a week so that, if anything is left out, you have others days to make up for it.

Complete the syllabus: All of the questions in the exams are taken from the JEE Main and JEE Advanced syllabuses. Some questions will be used to assess your ability to apply the concept, but they are not from the syllabus.

Make a revision strategy: Making a schedule that works. Do not attempt anything new right before the exam, as candidates may forget what they have already learned.

For 2023, cut off was 2694 for General category candidates in All India quota for B.Tech. in Aerospace Engineering in IIT Bombay - Indian Institute of Technology. IIT Bombay admission is based on JEE Advanced scores followed by the JoSAA Counselling. In order to be eligible for JoSAA Counselling candidates must appear for JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced.
