IIIT Bangalore and NIT Trichy both offer admission to the M.Tech course on the basis of a valid GATE score, followed by a GATE Counselling process. Talking about the 2023 last-round cutoff, the closing rank for M.Tech in CSE was 480 at IIIT Bangalore. For NIT Trichy, the last round closing score was 637 for the same course and specialisation. Analysing the last round cutoff data, IIIT Bangalore was more competitive for M.Tech in the CSE course than NIT Trichy.

MTech is one of the popular courses of IIIT Bangalore. The institute has been ranked at 74 under the 'Engineering' category in 2024 NIRF rankings for its Engineering courses. Talking about placements, the institute offered a highest package of INR 65 LPA to MTech CSE and INR 39.3 LPA to MTech ECE students. The average package offered to CSE and ECE students was INR 21.8 LPA and INR 29.2 LPA, respectively.

The technology institute offers four M.Tech courses. IIIT Bangalore offers two-year M.Tech courses in Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering specialisation. Moreover, two five-year integrated M.Tech courses are offered in the same specialisation. The fee and seat intake for all the courses vary. Admission to the M.Tech (two-year) programmes is based on merit in the GATE exam followed by counselling.

IIIT Bangalore considers GATE score for admission to MTech programme. In 2023, admission were offered in MTech ECE to candidates with GATE score up to 430. Whereas the closing cutoff for CSE was 480. GATE cutoff score depends upon the applications received and is not fixed. Candidates with score equal or above the GATE cutoff are offered admission in the MTech programme.

The answer to this question depends on the course applied by the candidate. JEE Main is necessary if the aspirant is applying for BTech programme. For all other courses, candidates do not require JEE Main score. Mere qualifying JEE Main does not guarantee admission in the BTech programme of IIIT Bangalore. Candidates also need to fulfil the eligibility requirement specific to BTech course for admission.

International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore does not offer direct admission. Candidates are offered seat in the institute based on their score in the entrance-exam. IIIT Bangalore accepts JEE Main for BTech and GATE for MTech programmes. The institute conducts a test for admission to MSc and PhD courses. Besides, IIIT Bangalore also accepts CAT, CEED, CUCET, TISSNET, etc. for admission to specific courses.

Candidates need to pass the accepted entrance exam and meet the eligibility requirements to join a course at IIIT Bangalore.
