Frequently Asked Questions

Q:   Can I join SRM IST without the entrance?

A:

Yes, SRM University offers direct admission to certain programs for eligible candidates who meet the required eligibility criteria. The admission criteria for these programs may include past academic performance, work experience, and other relevant factors. However, for most of the programs offered by SRM University, admission is through the SRMJEEE (SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination) or other national level entrance exams.

Therefore, it is recommended that you check the specific admission requirements for the programme you are interested in on the university's website or by contacting the admissions office. In case you do not qualify for direct admission or wish to appear for the entrance exam, you can apply for SRMJEEE and appear for the exam. The exam is conducted annually and is the basis for admission to several programs offered by the university.

Q:   Is SRM University good for B.Tech?

A:

Here are some positive and negative points of SRM University:

Positive:

  1. Located in Chennai which is a metropolitan city. Three out of five campuses are located in Chennai
  2. You can have a lot of fun
  3. In KTR, there are a lot of opportunities provided to students to develop their profile like hundreds of clubs, teams like robocon, conrods, camber, and 4ze where students can build their own bots, cars and stuff. If you are really interested in your field then you can do anything in SRM
  4. Canteen facilities are excellent
  5. As far as placements are concerned, most students are placed in IT sector. Core companies also visit the campus but they select only one or two students. In a batch of 500600 students i.e. 1520 students are placed in core companies. But still that depends on your skills and we can’t blame the university for that.

Negative:

  1. The student to faculty ratio is too high.
  2. Faculty members are not very highly skilled, though they are postgraduates in their respective field. Most of them have completed M.Tech from other local colleges. There are very few from IITs and foreign universities.
  3. The curriculum is old.
  4. The evaluation system is also not very good.
  5. Very little research happens here. Most of the faculty members don’t have any publications
  6. Also, if you have a lot of money you can join in management quota into any branch you want. Almost half of the students have joined in management quota.

All the best.

Q:   Is SRM Kattankulathur costly to study BTech?

Absolutely satisfied. Good placement in 2024, really good infrastructure, and facilities.
Placements: This college provides good placements. The average package is 700,000 (7 lakhs) and above. 1000 companies are approaching each year, and it is increasing every year. Many companies are approaching SRM, and it is increasing. It provides a minimum seven lakh package.
Infrastructure: The college infrastructure is very good, and the classrooms and labs are all very good. It's a good college preference. I will give the buildings and infrastructure a high rating. The sports activities are also very good, and the buildings are very nice.
Faculty: The faculty teaches very well, and the teachers are very nice. Internal carries 60 marks, and each subject carries 100 marks. You will be awarded very good marks for each subject, so prepare well and be honest in the exam hall.
Other: Main interest: Proper GPA.

Good infrastructure and very good placements, but placements are only for those who perform well.
Placements: About 800 people are studying our course. The highest salary package offered is 39 LPA and the lowest salary package is 4.5 LPA. Top companies like Google, Accenture, Amazon, PayPal, and Microsoft recruit from our course. Around 80% of students will get internships. Embedded, software, and hardware roles are very good in my course. Top companies offer higher salary packages, but they hire only a few members.
Infrastructure: Labs are very good, with high-quality equipment and good infrastructure, but the network is slow. Hostels are good, but not worth the money. They charged 2.5 lakhs for my ECE course in the first year, and now they are charging 3.5 lakhs for first-year students. College fees are very high at this university.
Faculty: Teaching is very good. They help me with doubts, IEEE research papers, and more. It will help in the industry. It is easy to pass, with internals) worth 60 marks and the semester exam worth 40 marks. The pass percentage is 50%. Teaching staff is very good, and management handles all other issues effectively.
Other: The course is very helpful in building my career. It will have 5 units to study. For every even semester, there is Aarush, and for every odd semester, there is Melon, which are the fests of the college.

Decent college. Good placements for CSE students.
Placements: Around 80-85% students were placed. Average package being around 7-8lpa. Max package offered was 1.2 crores and the lowest was 2.5 LPA. You can expect a variety of over 500+ companies to come for placement but software and IT students are first preferred even if they don't know anything. A CSE student having a 6.2 gpa gets 7-8lpa whereas an ECE student knowing everything a CSE student knows still only gets 4-4.5 LPA on avg.
Infrastructure: Do not take hostel for girls. It is a jail. They screens your bags everytime you go out and come in. Your intime is 6 pm and your college gets over at 5pm. You have compulsory attendance and the mess food is horrible. The cleaners don't clean often. Looks like a 5 star but is a jail.
Faculty: If your teacher is hill, you will get marks. If your teacher hates you, no matter how good you study you won't score. Mostly new syllabus though. Teachers are knowledgeable but will only teach as per their interest. It does make the students industry ready if the student involves themselves.

The college is good for placements and has good infrastructure as well.
Placements: Above 7 CGPA scored students are placed here. 52 lakhs is the highest package and 3 lakhs is the lowest package in SRM. Amazon, Google, TCS, etc. are the companies recruiting for my course. 70 percent of placements are offered by TCS for Embedded Systems and Electronic Design Engineer roles.
Infrastructure: There are so many facilities like ground, Wi-Fi available 24/7, labs are perfect, classrooms, and also the library continuing for 4 floors. The hostel is good, drinking water is provided, and the washrooms are also good. The food in the hostel mess is not good. Medical facilities like a hospital are there, and sports grounds are also present.
Faculty: Yes, the teaching staff is very good and they have good knowledge. They all are Ph.D. qualified. The curriculum is relevant and good and prepares students for the industry, providing knowledge related to new business. The semester exams are moderately difficult, and the pass percentage is 40.

Review of SRM University Ramapuram.

The highest placement in the college is 40 LPA, with an average of 7 LPA, and the lowest placement is 3 to 4 LPA. However, the ECE department's placements are only average.
Infrastructure: In SRM Ramapuram, the facilities are good, with knowledgeable and experienced staff. The infrastructure is average, and the campus is small. Labs, libraries, and sports complexes are available, and classrooms are spacious with air conditioning. Wi-Fi is available in the labs, and hostel food is average.
Faculty: In SRM Ramapuram, exams consist of three internal exams (CT1, CT2, and CT3) and one external exam per semester. Exam fees are collected, amounting to nearly $3000 to $4000. The curriculum is closely related to the course, making it easy to gain knowledge in core subjects. The faculty is also good.

You can apply for the SRMJEE or you can take admission directly. After the counseling process few seats are left so to fill those seats they take some of the students for that you have to book your slot earlier.
