Our college provides good placements every year.
Placements: Around 70% of students were placed in our course. Almost 30% of students pursued their master's degree to score good marks in competitive exams. The highest salary package offered was 15.5 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was 4 LPA. The average salary package offered was 6 LPA. Visa, Caterpillar, Zoho, Qualcomm, etc., were the top recruiting companies.
Infrastructure: In this college, the food served in the mess was good. There was a medical center on campus. There were two canteens, and the prices were affordable. There were two coffee huts where tea, coffee, juice, snacks, etc., were served. Several clubs were provided to explore our knowledge. Wahrooms were not good.
Faculty: Some teachers in our college were knowledgeable. Some were very lazy to visit classes. Semester exams were very easy. If students do well in internal exams, then semester exams will be easy.
Other: ACOE is not helpful to students.

Our college has good infrastructure, facilities, faculty members, labs, hostels, placements, etc.
Placements: Placements are very good both in terms of the companies and the compensations they are offering. Since I have an ECE background, I can say that the core companies coming for placements are very few but they are high-end companies like Samsung, Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, Micron Technologies, etc. The placement percentage is about 90 to 95%. The highest salary package offered is about 20 LPA.
Infrastructure: Facilities in our college are very good in terms of labs. You can even manufacture a phone chip with the facilities available in the department. Hostels are above average but not very good as in private colleges. There are gyms, swimming pools, sports board and many things you can access too.
Faculty: Professors in our college are very knowledgeable. Some of them are qualified national level. The courses offered are very relevant to the industry-level requirements. Since the professors are very knowledgeable, the semester exams will be of high standards.

My Life Lessons at College of Engineering Guindy.
Placements: For IT, CSE, nearly everyone will get placed and their average salary is around 12 LPA, with the highest salary being around 36 LPA. For ECE, EEE department core companies will also come, but the salary is not lesser than IT. Their average is around 8 LPA. For civil, mech, and manufacturing, core companies will come and the average is around 7 LPA. Rare departments like printing, mining, some companies will come, some will get placed, and some will do higher studies. Even though they don't get placement, Anna University brand name and life experience will help them grow.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is not so good as private colleges. Ambience is good. Some classes don't have smart boards. Wi-Fi facilities are given only for laptops. Lab infrastructure is very good. Hostel facility is okay, but you have a very good life experience there.
Faculty: Some faculty members teach extraordinarily. Some faculty members don't have subject knowledge, but this helps us to improve more through self-learning. Without self-learning, you can't get good grades. The question paper is set by any one of the staff members who are handling the subject. Exams are somewhat medium to difficult level. Seniors will guide you more for placement, etc. Seniors also conduct special classes for students.
Other: I chose ECE because we can go for both IT and core jobs. Some department staff are not teaching well, and it is tougher if you don't follow self-study. There are many clubs, and it is mandatory to be a part of NSS/YRC/NSO. I am a part of NSS, which is a personality improvement course. You will be able to speak confidently and efficiently. Many clubs are also there. Each club has its significant events. CEG Teach Forum conducts Vyuhaa for freshers and Kurukshetra, an international-level tech event. SAAS CEG conducts AGNI in the odd semester and Techofes in the even semester. Those cultural events are the best part of your life.

There are good placements for IT sector. The infrastructure is good.
Placements: About 70% of the students from our course got placed. If students don't have arrears, they get easily placed. Companies like Samsung, Nokia and lot of service-based companies visit our college every year for placements. A lot of students also got internships in their third year in companies like Samsung, etc.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are good here, and the food served in the hostel is not good. However, the food served in the canteen was good and affordable. In the library, we can find all courses books, and there are a lot of books for personal development. The entire campus is provided with Wi-Fi facility. The medical centre is available 24x7.
Faculty: Few teachers here are highly qualified, and they make us learn the course in an easy way. Few professors are good, but from teachers who are new to the campus, we cannot expect a lot. In the ECE department, we can't find a lot of job opportunities related to it, but we can attend interviews for IT companies.
Other: I have chosen ECE because it is one of the courses in which we can opt for the IT sector and electronics field. The campus was good. The best things about our college are cultural activities and symposium.

It has great facilities and placements, along with moderate infrastructure and freedom for students.
Placements: About 70% of the students from our course got placed both in hardware and software companies. The highest salary package offered was 25 LPA, while the lowest salary package offered was 4 LPA, whereas the average salary package offered was 10 LPA. Among the core companies, Samsung, Micron, Airtel and Analog Electronics were the top recruiting companies for our course. In the software domain, we get a number of companies like Samsung, Khorus, Accenture, Standard Chartered, etc. Internships are also conducted during the third year by top companies like Samsung and Nokia, in which 60% of the students got internships. System engineer and software development engineer were the roles offered in our course.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure available in our department is enormous, and there are advanced lab facilities and equipment. Free Wi-Fi access is available to all the students through their laptops. There is a separate block for the library in which both the subject and general category books are available. Students can take a maximum of 4 books at a time, and they should return or renew them (allowed once) before 15 days. Hostel facilities are moderate as 4 students are allowed to stay in every room. The food available in the hostel mess is neither great nor poor, and it depends upon the dishes they provide. CEG canteen is affordable in our college, and the food served in it is pretty good compared to the hostel mess. For the medical facilities, Anna University health centre is available where the students can get treatment and medicines free of cost. It is really helpful as it is available in the campus only. Our college gives equal importance to sports and conducts various matches.
Faculty: Most of the teachers here are friendly and helpful. Some of the teachers may not be able to deliver the content properly, but the students have the choice to select their teachers from their second semester only so that they can choose their course instructors based on their preferences. The course curriculum is relevant and up-to-date with the industry needs.
Other: I chose this course because it enables me to work in both hardware and software industries. The best thing about this course is it has high placement records next to computer science engineering in our college. I wish that our college provide students with practical knowledge also in our course, then it will be better. A number of events, both technical and cultural and various club-related activities are conducted throughout the academic year. These activities are organised and coordinated only by students which enables the students to develop their leadership and communication skills. A number of scholarships are available inside the campus which are offered to students based on certain criteria.

Students also asked

Q:   Does College of Engineering Guindy accept JEE score?

A:
Yes, the Government College of Engineering (CEG) in Guindy, Chennai accepts JEE Main scores for admission to its B.Tech programs

However, some colleges conduct their own entrance exams instead of relying on JEE scores.

For Tamil Nadu students, admissions are based on normalised aggregate marks in Class XII PCM through TNEA counselling. For other state students, admissions are based on Anna University counselling.

Other engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu that accept JEE Main scores include:

  • National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy
  • Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Chennai
  • Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy (SASTRA University), Thanjavur

Absolutely, the Government College of Engineering (CEG) in Guindy, Chennai recognizes the importance of JEE Main scores for admission into its B.Tech programs. However, it's noteworthy that certain institutions may opt for their own entrance exams as an alternative to JEE scores.

For aspiring engineers from Tamil Nadu, the admission process is distinct. It hinges on the normalized aggregate marks in Class XII Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, assessed through the TNEA counseling. On the flip side, students from other states find their gateway through Anna University counseling.

Diversifying the options, other reputable engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu also open their doors to JEE Main achievers. The National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Trichy, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) in Chennai, and the Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy (SASTRA University) in Thanjavur are among the esteemed institutions welcoming candidates based on their JEE Main scores.

This dynamic approach to admissions ensures that aspiring engineers have multiple avenues to pursue their academic and professional dreams, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment in the realm of engineering education.

If you take ECE, then my option for you would be to go for CEG campus. Because the placement will be very good for ECE in CEG campus. You have a good probability of getting inside CEG. All the best.
