It is a very good college for students.
Placements: Around 350 companies visited our college in the previous year to offer placements. Around 1700 students applied for placements and of which 60% of students got placed. Other students are trying off-campus. Around 50% of students from our branch got internships
Infrastructure: Everything is available in our college for students to do research and projects in the labs. Clubs are operated by students. Hostels provide all the facilities like TV, gym, Wi-Fi, and other things.
Faculty: Professors in our college are knowledgeable. Exams conducted are averagely difficult. Sometimes professor makes it an open-book exam to make it somewhat easier.
Other: I was willing to get admission in CS but I got chemical engineering as per my marks in JEE Advanced. I chose this branch to get admission in this good college. Students from any branch can attend placements provided by the IT companies.

It has amazing infrastructure and research opportunities.
Placements: Almost all the students got placed with an average package of 13-14 LPA. The highest package offered is more than 1.5 crores, and the lowest package is 6 LPA. Chemical students got placed in various tech companies like Google, Microsoft, etc., and in their core companies like Dr. Reddy's, Reliance etc.
Infrastructure: The hostel LAN speed is awesome. We have access to the library and its Wi-Fi. It has air-conditioned rooms. Overall, the experience is excellent. The food is not good as I expected, but it's not that bad.
Faculty: Since this is an IIT, the faculty here are knowledgeable. The course curriculum is nice, but the trimester system due to COVID is stressful as we have too many classes and exams within a period of 2 months. The passing percentage is above 40%, but it also depends on specific courses.
Other: I chose this course because I like the structure of this course. I am interested in chemicals. I wish attendance criteria to be reduced to 60-70% because there are lots of other opportunities on campus for the overall development of students. If the attendance criterion is minimised, then it will be beneficial for us.

Absolutely outstanding crowd and faculty.
Placements: Around 60% of the students got placed. The average package offered was around 15 LPA, the lowest was 5 LPA and the highest package was 60 LPA. The placements would have be much better this year but because of the recession, it was bad. Top recruiting companies are P&G, Wipro, Ola etc. Around 60% students got internships on campus. Top roles offered are that of Design Trainee, Graduate Engineer Trainee, Cell and battery innovation center (R&D), Management Trainee etc.
Infrastructure: We have Wi-Fi in all the academic buildings. Most of the classrooms have ACs, except a few. There are lab equipments and machines that can be used for research. Students have to set up outer or LAN connections in order to access Wi-Fi. Medical and sports facilities are outstanding.
Faculty: Professors are really helpful, knowledge and qualified. Most of them have a defined structure for the course which includes assignments etc. to get a feel of the course. The course curriculum is relevant. If you attend the classes properly, it's easy to get a decent grade.
Other: The college’s crowd and the teaching faculty is the best part of this college. You can find like-minded people and the college provides a Position of responsibility (PoR) which you can join to explore your interests. Faculty provides projects to the students who approach them and give them a chance to get a feel of research.

IIT MADRAS Chemical Engineering.
Placements: IIT Madras the NIRF RANK 1 the best not only the engineering college but also the best overall college in INDIA. Placement are very decent here. The highest domestic package in the year 2021 was 64.3 LPA (note that this is domestic) and the average was 17.3 LPA. These were of B.Tech courses and for dual degree M.Tech the highest was 45.06 LPA and average was 17.53 LPA (again domestic only). For specific chemical engineering the highest was 37 LPA.
Infrastructure: The college have a very decent infrastructure similar to rest IITs. All the students get single occupancy hostel rooms and all the rooms are equipped with super high-speed LAN port (all IIT has). Lecture halls are well-equipped with ACs and good setting facility. Library is the best place to hang out with books before exam, have a ton of books.
Faculty: Talking about chemical engineering course, it's chill here. Like chemical engineering is less hectic as compared to other branches. Scoring marks is not that tough, you just need to listen what they are teaching in the class and that's all. You get more time to do other activities apart from studies like you can learn coding, do internships actively participate in club, etc.
Other: After result of JEE Advanced there is a lot of confusion which college to prefer which branch. If you don't have any special interest in ant branch we have to take a balance of college ranking and branch. As chemical is little less hectic I get time to learn coding and all also the IIT Madras is the best college of the country so I would get a lot of opportunity.

Q:   How can I get admission in IIT Madras?

A:

To seek admission to the BTech programme offered at IIT Madras, candidates need to visit the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and fill out the application form in online mode for JEE Main. For other courses such as MSc, MTech, BS-MS (Dual Degree) etc., candidates must visit the official website of respective national-level entrance exam conducting bodies and fill out the application form in online mode. IIT Madras admission to most of the courses is entrance-based. For detailed information around IIT Madras course admission, click here.

Q:   Can we join IIT Madras without JEE?

A:

Yes, there are many other courses for which the selection criteria are different and the prescribed entrance exam is also other than JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced. Below are some of the courses offered at IIT Madras along with their eligibility criteria and entrance exam:

  • MTech: IIT Madras offers a two-year full-time M.Tech programme across various specialisations. The institute inducts candidates for the M.Tech programmes based on valid GATE scores followed by the counselling process.
  • MBA: For admission to the full-time two year MBA programme at IIT Madras, candidates are required to appear for the CAT exam. Candidates based on their CAT scores will be shortlisted for the Group Discussion & Personal Interview (PI) round.
  • MSc: IIT Madras accepts admission to the MSc programme based on a valid score/ rank in the IIT-JAM exam.

Q:   Can I join a B.Sc course at IIT Madras without giving JEE?

A:

IIT Madras BSc admission is entrance-based as the institute primarily accepts the rank and scores of the JEE Main examination for admission to its full-time BSc programme. However, if candidates wish to apply for the integrated BS plus MS programme, then they can apply for admission through the scores of the IISER Aptitude Test. Therefore, you can join the BSc course at IIT Madras without giving the JEE.

Q:   Can I get admission to IIT Madras with a low JEE rank?

A:
Admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) is highly competitive and the admission process is based on the candidate's JEE Advanced rank. However, admission to IIT Madras or any other IIT with a low JEE rank is unlikely, as the cutoff for admission is generally very high. That being said, it's important to remember that JEE rank is not the only factor that IITs consider during the admission process. Other factors such as academic performance, extracurricular activities, and achievements in related fields may also be taken into account. Additionally, some IITs offer other admission channels like the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) scheme, which allows foreign nationals to apply for admission to IITs based on their SAT scores. It's always best to check the official IIT Madras website for the most up-to-date information on their admission process, eligibility criteria, and other requirements.

Q:   Which courses does IIT Madras have?

A:

IIT Madras offers around 100 undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degree courses. The courses include BTech, BTech-MTech (Dual Degree), BS-MS (Dual Degree), Integrated MA, MTech, MBA, MSc, MS by Research and PhD. Additionally, IITM has signed MoUs with foreign universities to offer Joint PhD and JDP programme. The institute is also known for its Quality Improvement Programme (QIP), which is sponsored by the AICTE and is the world’s first online BSc programme. IIT Madras has also started for an 8-week free online course on Data Science.
