B.Tech. in Marine Engineering - Batch of 2023
Offered by IMA - International Maritime Academy

Food and hygiene are a bit of an issue.
Placements: Almost 70% of cadets got placements across the world. The highest salary package offered is 5LP, A and the lowest salary package offered is 3LPA. Cadets were recruited by sponsorship exams on behalf of the college. Roles are mostly offered to B.Sc. like NCC etc., and NCC cadets were bit ease in every matter and a parade contingent also formed for cadets who are willing to do a parade on republic day in marina beach on behalf of the college, and all things are taken care of by college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good modern workshops for all courses, good faculty members, and classrooms. The library is also there containing marine-related books and practice papers. Facilities like basketball ground, football ground we can in the evening, and good quality are not up to mark especially for north Indians canteen food is good for everyone and its cheap too. Sports like basketball, football, and volleyball were played every day.
Faculty: The teaching faculty is good and qualified in my term. The course curriculum is relevant, and it does make to join the marine industry. Semester exams are hard before model exams are conducted so, that we can get an idea of how hard the semester exams are going to be. The pass percentage is 96%.
Other: I am pursuing B.Tech in marine engineering, and our contains almost cadets from every state who took admission. Of course, it's good specifically, teaching and workshops and specified ship on the campus for more acknowledgment in vessels. Improvements should be on lab assistants should be changed or introduced better. It is completely a boy's hostel and campus for now. Events celebrated like the new year or other events. And extracurricular activities like for B.Sc. . especially NCC facility given to cadets who pursue B.Sc. . in this college about our passing batch we accompanied by good seniors and officers till now.

There is no placement and infrastructure. They don't issue certificates, and management is fake.
Placements: There are no placements. Everything depends on students' struggle. They stand in front of shipping company offices and fake agents, and they have paid a huge fee, like 4 lacs to 6 lacs. There is no placement cell at all.
Infrastructure: Our college provides stinking mattresses and pillows. Water is available only for 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening. There is no proper drinking water. Food is prepared unhygienically, and it doesn't have any taste. It is made up of low-quality vegetables and pulses. There is no Wi-Fi and medical facilities.
Faculty: Faculty members of our college don't follow a particular syllabus. Whatever they teach doesn't come in the semester exams. The paper evaluation process is far beyond the worst. There is no particular procedure for revaluation.
Other: I completed B.Tech in the marine engineering batch in 2014-2018. It took two years for the college and the university to issue my degree and other mark sheets even when I cleared all the exams without any arrear in July 2018.

Good college with full enjoyment.
Placements: According to me, it is one of the best college for maritime engineering when it comes to placement opportunities. Some top companies like shipping corporation of India etc use to come. Packages go till 17 Lacs per annum. Campus also give lots of internship opportunities.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of the college is also very good. It provides all the facilities like Wi-Fi, well-maintained library, sports ground, medical facilities and many more. As the college is in Chennai, South Indian dishes are good but North Indian is tasteless. But overall infrastructure is good.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified and knowledgeable. Course is very tough but because of good teaching style of the teachers in the academy, it makes us to learn and retain the things. They are just superb. They are helpful and friendly as well. The course is excellent and relevant.
Other: I love maritime so I opted this field.
Events are also very good. Crowd is also good.

Overall, our college is good, but the only problem is our college does not provide any placements.
Placements: Our college doesn't offer any placement opportunities. You can find a job through an agent or a reference. You can also walk-in directly to the company and crack the interviews. If you don't have any sources or references, you have to pay 3 to 4 lakhs to the college or agents to join the ship. Job opportunities are not that good here.
Infrastructure: Our campus has everything according to DGS requirements. The infrastructure includes an on-campus ship, bridge room, engine room simulator lab, swimming pool, mechanical lab, electrical lab, GP marine maintenance shop, seamanship lab, hostel building, DNS marine maintenance shop, etc.
Faculty: Faculty members are a mixed bag here. Some are good, and some are bad. Faculty members of the marine department are really good to teach marine concepts, and the faculty members who teach other subjects are average. Our faculty members are well experienced and have good marine service records. IMA offers a 4-year B.Tech degree in marine engineering, 3-year B.Sc. in nautical science, one-year DNS, and a 6-month GP rating course, etc.

Faculty members are good, but the placements are poor.
Placements: The college doesn't provide any placement opportunities. You can only complete the course in this college; you have to find a job on your own. You can find a job through an agent, or the college will take money and provide you with a job opportunity. Or if you are talented enough, then you can go to the company and crack the interview rounds. If you are lucky, then you will get a job. Otherwise, you should have a reference to get a job.
Infrastructure: There are four buildings in the name of infrastructure. One of the buildings is allotted for the hostel. Rest other buildings are allotted for academic purpose, and even some floors are allotted for hostel facility. You have to suffer for water, food, and electricity facilities because all these facilities are very poor. There is no Wi-Fi facility. Classrooms are under CCTV surveillance. There are a library and canteen in a building.
Faculty: All faculty members in the college are good. If your behaviour is not that good, then you have to face many problems. Some faculty members are available only for some time, and they teach less. But they want more from you. The course is not completed on time. Faculty members here are not as good and experienced.
Other: The college is located very far from the city.
