The 17th edition of All India Bar Examination (AIBE) been concluded today from 10 am to 1 pm. Candidates who took AIBE XVII shared that they expected the to be difficult, but it was easy level only. They also shared AIBE 2023 was based on similar pattern as previous years, therefore, with sufficient preparation one case qualify it easily. Q:   Has the exam pattern of AIBE 2024 changed? If so, what are the new changes and how will they affect my preparation?

A:

No, the exam pattern of AIBE 2024 has not been changed as of now. The exam pattern remains the same as previous years, with 100 multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark, and no negative marking. Candidates should focus on their preparation strategy, which includes studying the syllabus, making a study plan, practicing past year question papers, and keeping themselves updated with the latest legal developments. 

Q:   Has the exam pattern of AIBE 2024 changed?

A:

No, the exam authority, Bar Council of India has not informed about any changes in the exam pattern of AIBE 2024 yet. The exam pattern of AIBE 19 remained same as the previous sessions. Candidates should note that until AIBE 16 Test-Takers were allowed to carry Bare Acts without short notes/notes/ commentary. However, a confirmation about allowing Bare Acts with/without comments from AIBE 19 onwards or not was made available from the exam authority once exam date notification is out. All details of AIBE 19 exam mode, pattern, syllabus and open-book status was confirmed in the exam notification only.

Q:   Is there negative marking in AIBE Exam?

A:

No, there are no negative marking for wrong answers. Candidates will be given 1 mark for each right answer in AIBE 2024 examination. AIBE Exam consists of 100 questions that must be solved within three hours and thirty mintues time. Candidates must note that they will be awarded one marks for each correct answer, however, any wrong answer, no marks will be deducted. Students must acquire a minimum score of 40 per cent marks in the AIBE Exam to receive the "Certificate of Practice."

Pratistha from a test centre in Delhi shared that all the questions were asked from Bare Acts, and the question paper was easy. The overall conduct of AIBE was fine, but exam centre could have been nearer to her location as she had to travel from Vaishali to Rohini, Delhi.

Vishal Mehra, practising lawyer at Rohini Court- Delhi, shared that the question paper was easy and he expects over 70 marks. He said, the test centre allocation for him was best as he was allotted nearest test centre in Rohini, Delhi only, which is close to his residence. 

Rahul Sharma shared that AIBE 17 was his first attempt, and the question paper was easy. He also added that BCI should remove Bare Acts from AIBE as most questions are asked directly from it, and the paper should rather be based on Legal Theory, which is essential for practising law. He also shared that the exam centre not near to his location, so he had to travel a long distance. 

Q:   What is the syllabus and exam pattern of the AIBE? What should my preparation strategy be?

The AIBE or the All India Bar Examination is conducted by the Bar Council of India for advocates who have obtained a law degree and wish to practice law in India. Q:   What is the analysis of AIBE 18 (XVIII) 2023 paper?

A:

As per the test-takers, the AIBE 18 Question paper 2023 carried precedent case laws, and landmark judgements directly from Bare Acts. On the other hand, Shyambhavi who attempted AIBE for the first time, shared that the question paper was easy. She added that BCI should add more questions based on Bare Acts, as they were unclear which sections to be focused on, for questions based on Torts. She shared that candidates can clear AIBE with sufficient practice (past year papers). 

Sai Krishna, who completed his LLB graduation from the University of Delhi, shared that this was his first attempt for AIBE. He added that the question paper was too easy. Pointing out the question he said, that there was 1 question IT Act, based on Jurisdiction only, and most questions were asked from CrPc, CPC, Arbitration, IPC, Indian Evidence Act, Torts etc. He also shared that BCI should provide admit card for AIBE few days prior to the exam date, as he had to travel from Banglore (reached early morning) and take the exam at Delhi test centre.

Kashif Raza, shared that AIBE 17 was easier than anyone could have expected. He recommended that BCI should increase the difficulty level, and it was an open book exam as the candidates can easily attempt exam by finding answers in Bare Acts. He added that he attempted 70+ questions without Bare Acts.

Advay Khan shared that since the exam was an open book exam, they could easily attempt the question paper. He added that BCI should provide clear instructions on Bare Acts as the last minute announcements created lot of incoveniences for most candidates. 

What after AIBE?

The exam authority will now publish a provisional answer key within next 10 days, expected by February 15, 2023. This answer key will help candidates in determining their expected score with respect to the qualifying criteria of AIBE 2023. Moreover, the exam authority will also give candidates a chance to raise objections on the answer key, and consider all the objections if found correct. They will revise the answer key accordingly before declaring AIBE 2023 results.

When will AIBE 17 results be declared?

The results of AIBE XVII is expected to be announced on or after February 20, 2023. AIBE 17 results will mention qualifying status for the test taker as Pass or Fail apart from details like roll number, qualifying status. There will be no mention of marks obtained by candidates out of total scores. Candidates who PASS AIBE 17 will be issued the Certificate of Practice (CoP), which is mandatory to practice in a court of law. 

The COP will be issued to all AIBE qualified candidates tentatively by March 2023. 

AIBE 2023 Expected Cut off 

The expected cutoff marks for AIBE 17 are according to the exam qualifying marks only. The drop in cutoff marks of AIBE XVII will only be determined if there are any wrong questions/ answers in the exam. The wrong questions or answers will be verified during answer key objection window only. Till then, the AIBE 17 expected cutoff marks are as under:

To pass AIBE 19, a candidate must have at least 45% marks in case of being from the general or OBC category, and 40% in case of a candidate belonging to the SC/ST category. Considering you scored 43 marks, it seems that you failed to cross the pass mark.

The latest cutoff for AIBE 19 held on December 22, 2024, is given below for the General/OBC category as well as for the SC/ST/PwD category.

General/OBC Category: 45% (45 marks out of 100)
SC/ST/PwD Category: 40% (40 marks out of 100)

The last date for correction in AIBE registration form was November 22nd 2024. So you can not correct now. Now the admit card downloading is in process from December 15th onwards.
