Q:   When will the IIT JAM 2025 examination be conducted?

A:

Joint Admission test for Masters (JAM) has been established as a benchmark for the undergraduate level Science education in the country from last two decades. The objective of JAM is to provide admissions to Post- graduate Degree Programmes and to consolidate Science as a career option for the students across the country.

IIT JAM 2025 examination for the academic session 2025-2026 will be conducted by IIT Delhi, the examination conducting body. Aspirants who had earlier filled the JAM 2025 application form with the required eligibility will be able to give the JAM 2025 examination. IIT JAM 2025 examination is scheduled to be held on February 2, 2025. JAM 2025 is a Computer Based Test (CBT) to be conducted in SEVEN Test Papers at the undergraduate level.

Q:   Will marks be deducted for unanswered questions in IIT JAM 2024?

A:

According to the IIT JAM 2024 exam pattern, there will be no deduction of marks for unanswered questions. Such questions will not be taken into consideration while calculating the total marks of a candidate. Hence, if candidates are not sure about the answer of a question, it is better to leave it unattempted rather than doing a guess work, to avoid negative marking. Also, candidates are advised to revise the JAM exam sheet on the computer screen before submitting it .  

Q:   What are the important topics of Mathematics for the preparation of IIT JAM 2025 (Maths) exam?

A:

IIT JAM Mathematics exam pattern is such that candidates need to attempt Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions, Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), and Multiple Select Questions (MSQs). In the exam, aspirants need to attempt 60 questions in three hours duration. The maximum marks that candidates can secure in JAM 2025 is 100. For IIT JAM preparation aspirants need to have a strategy in place to secure admission in the Mathematics course. As part of this prep strategy, candidates should study from important books and solve as many IIT JAM question papers and mock tests as possible.

A:

The conducting body for the IIT JAM 2025 examination is the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. IITs conduct the exam on a rotational basis, and this year, IIT Madras is responsible for organizing and conducting the exam.

IIT JAM is a national-level entrance exam conducted every year for admission to M.Sc., Ph.D., and other postgraduate programs in Science and its allied subjects. The exam is conducted in a computer-based mode and consists of 60 questions for 100 marks.

Q:   For how many MSc Courses IIT JAM 2025 Exam is being conducted?

A:

JAM 2025 Examination will be conducted in SEVEN subjects, also referred to as Test Papers; Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA),  Mathematical Statistics (MS), and Physics (PH). The medium for all the Test Papers is English only.
JAM 2025 Examination for all the Test Papers will be conducted as a Computer Based Test  (CBT) where the candidates will be shown the questions in a random sequence on a computer screen. The duration of the examination will be of THREE hours.

4. Refrain from studying fresh topics: Starting off with a fresh topic will cut down your revision hours and may also create confusion. Students often try to cover every topic of the syllabus and end up retaining partial information. Instead, it is recommended that they emphasise on revising key topics and solving questions related to the same.

5. Set yourself a timer and do an exam rehearsal: Find yourself in a peaceful place and start attempting any mock test or a sample paper. Set yourself a timer of three hours and try to complete the test within the prescribed limit. Attempt as many questions as you can with the utmost accuracy. Doing such exam rehearsal will help you test your speed and accuracy.

6. Don't waste time: If you can manage your time well, you will even have an ample amount of time to work on your weak areas. Do not indulge yourself in watching television or plan a day out with friends as every minute counts from here onward. Prepare a small pocket notebook and note down important formulas, definitions, graphs, diagrams, etc. and carry it along wherever you go.

7. Stay ready with IIT JAM Admit card along with necessary documents: Take out the hard copy of the admit card of IIT JAM on an A4 size sheet. Along with the admit card, you also need to carry the following documents:

  • Two passport size photographs
  • An original copy of photo identity proof (preferably Aadhar card/ PAN card/ Driving License/ Voter ID)
  • Travel pass issued by IIT Guwahati

8. Stay in good shape and avoid junk food: It is often said that ‘A healthy mind resides in a healthy body, which in fact is possibly the most crucial factor that helps you maximise your performance. Students must meditate and do light exercises to stay in good shape. They should also refrain from eating junk food as a single ailment can ruin your chances of putting in your best efforts.

About IIT JAM 2024

The Joint Admission Test is set to take place on February 12, 2024, in two shifts- morning shift (9 AM - 12 Noon) and evening shift (3.30 PM - 6.30 PM).
