M.Sc. in Botany - Batch of 2026
Offered by Banaras Hindu University

Good infrastructure and faculty.
Placements: If you're coming for placements, then Banaras Hindu University isn't a top-tier placement giver. Although the highest package in the case of Botany goes up to 9-10 LPA, the placement percentage is low. Mostly, Edtech companies come for placements in Botany, such as Allen, Aakash, Unacademy, etc.
Infrastructure: The department is good. Classrooms contain A.C., although labs haven't A.C. yet, but they are clean and well-ventilated. Free Wi-Fi is available. Water coolers are available, which are in fully working condition. A departmental library is there, which contains all the necessary books. The library is also air-conditioned. A proper garden with a fountain is there, with a vehicle garage. There is also a botanical garden that is maintained by our department.
Faculty: Mixed faculty is there; some of them are too good and knowledgeable, while some of them are average. I won't say that the curriculum makes students industry-ready, as there are a lack of some topics that are more relevant in modern industries. Semester exams are difficult—not too much, but yes. Although the passing percentage is high.
Other: This course was chosen by me because I was interested in Botany from a long way back, and in India, Banaras Hindu University is currently #1 in studies on Botany. Campus life is too good here—close campus, free health facility, free Wi-Fi, free gym, swimming facility, all are available. The campus is neat and clean. There are several playing grounds providing facilities to play all kinds of games. The campus is ragging-free and safe. Fests are minimal here, but events are frequent in departments and hostels.
