Good faculty but placements need to improve.
Placements: The 4-year B.Tech course in electronics and communication from the radio physics and electronics department started from 2015 onwards. Earlier it was the B.Sc. B.Tech course. Hence not many core electronics companies visit here for placements. But some IT companies do visit and offer reasonable salary packages with the average salary package being 6 LPA. Moreover, students have procured quite good internships. One has achieved as many as 7 internships in companies like Vodafone, and almost 4 students are doing their internships at IIT KGP in AI and Machine Learning. Even there is plenty of scope for research after completion of B.Tech.
Infrastructure: The campus is quite big with plenty of greenery. There is a highly enriched library along with good quality classrooms with projectors. Laboratories are well-equipped. Even there is a free access gym and table tennis room. The campus has a total of 3 canteens that serves quality food and one among them being air-conditioned. There is also a hostel facility. But the distance is criteria based on which the students being the farthest are given accommodation first.
Faculty: Teachers in lour college are extremely interactive and student-friendly. We are always welcome with our doubts and teachers provided us with a lot of their spare time to help us. Moreover, they are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Even the teachers encourage us to do our own projects that give us hands-on experience and make us ready for the industry. The course curriculum is quite detailed and up to date as changes are made every year to include new and useful topics.
Other: The department of radio physics and electronics under the University of Calcutta is the oldest such department in India. It has a rich heritage and has earned acclamations over the years. There is plenty of scope for extracurricular activities. Events and fests are held quite often. Faculty are wonderful, and students get to learn a lot. But the placements need to improve so that more core electronics companies visit the campus.
