Q:   Is Punjab University under CUET?

A:

Yes, Punjab University is under CUET. All postgraduate courses at Central University of Punjab, including the M.Ed., require CUET PG. If you have not taken the CUET PG, the university will not evaluate your application for admission.

A national level entrance test for postgraduate programs in India is called the Common University Entrance Test (CUET PG). The National Testing Agency (NTA) is in charge of conducting it. The test consists of three portions and is based on multiple-choice questions:

Subject-specific Test (SST) and General Test (GAT)
WAT: Writing Ability Test
The GAT part evaluates the candidate's aptitude and general knowledge. The SST portion assesses the candidate's familiarity with the field of study they intend to pursue. A candidate's writing abilities are evaluated in the WAT portion.

Admission to postgraduate programs at Central University of Punjab is entirely based on performance in the CUET PG exam. Your other academic credentials, such as the grades you earned in your bachelor's degree, won't be taken into account by the university for admission.

Q:   Is M.A. at Panjab University worth the investment?

A:
{Source: M.A. students & alumni}

After analyzing the feedback from current students and alumni, here's a summary of the pros and cons:

Pros:

* Good faculty: Many students praised the professors' qualifications, knowledge, and approachability.
* Well-structured course curriculum: The curriculum is relevant, and students appreciate the theoretical foundations.
* Infrastructure and amenities: The campus is well-maintained, with decent facilities, including a library, gym, and recreational spaces.
* Exposure to various activities: The university offers various extracurricular activities, festivals, and events, allowing students to explore their interests.

Cons:

* Placement record: The placement rate is relatively low, and many students rely on self-effort or pursuing higher education (e.g., NET or Ph.D.) for career advancement.
* Limited industry connections: The university's ties with industries seem limited, resulting in fewer job opportunities for students.
* Research-oriented internships: While some internships are available, they tend to be research-focused rather than corporate-driven, limiting practical experience.
* Academic intensity: Some students felt that the course load was too heavy, with little scope for hands-on learning or industry application.

In conclusion, whether M.A. at Panjab University is worth the investment depends on individual goals and expectations. For those seeking a strong academic foundation and theoretical knowledge, the university seems suitable. However, for those looking for direct industry exposure, job guarantees, or extensive career opportunities, they may need to supplement their degree with additional efforts or consider alternative options.

Recommendation: If you're considering the M.A. programme at Panjab University, weigh the pros and cons carefully, focusing on your academic and career aspirations. Consider networking with faculty and peers, exploring extracurricular activities, and developing transferable skills to enhance your prospects.

    Our college has a really good infrastructure and facilities, but it has a poor course curriculum.
    Placements: There are no placements and internships in our college. Most of the time, you need to try for placements outside of the campus. Some companies offer the starting salary between Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 35,000 per month and even sometimes better than that. I suggest that if you are passionate only about the course, then it is worthwhile unless you are graduated to opt for government jobs. I remember one alumnus of our university named Har Gobind Khorana who has graduated for government jobs.
    Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is the best and comparable with good private universities. Wi-Fi facility is available 24 hours a day, and classrooms and laboratories are well-equipped. Air-conditioners are available during the summer. Hostels are not much bad if you acquired one in sector 25, and toilets are in poor condition. However, toilets are better than the toilets of the hostels in most public and private colleges. The hostel mess serves the food at an affordable price, i.e., Rs. 35 to Rs. 40 per diet. The quality of the food served here is good and not much bad, and every weekend chole puri is served in the mess. An air-conditioned Joshi library is the best place if you like to read books. Air-conditioners and heaters are available in the library.
    Faculty: Faculty members of the microbiology department are not good. They are quite lazy and not helpful and bit racist also, but you have to handle them for just 1st semester. Our university follows a CBCS system. So, you have the option to choose the subject as per your choice, but it also depends on your merit. This course doesn't make students industry-ready, and if you want to get industry-ready, you need to attend webinars and workshops organised by the university.
    Other: I have chosen this course to learn more about biological systems. I wish that if our college improves the quality of our course, then this would be one of the best in the world. Our department organises sports and fests, and every festival is celebrated here. Our university organises youth festival, and extracurricular activities are common. There is a new test, and the student centre is a hub of it.

    Q:   Is M.Sc. at Panjab University worth the investment?

    A:
    {Source: M.Sc. students & alumni}

    Based on the reviews and feedback from current students and alumni, here's an analysis of whether an M.Sc. degree from Panjab University is worth the investment:

    Academics and Faculty

    * The faculty members are generally considered helpful, experienced, and knowledgeable in their respective fields.
    * The course curriculum is relevant and covers both theoretical and practical aspects of the subject.
    * Some students mentioned that the professors could be more punctual and humble.

    Infrastructure and Facilities

    * The university has modern facilities, including Wi-Fi, libraries, and well-equipped labs.
    * The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, and the libraries have a wide range of book collections.
    * However, some students pointed out that the hostel facilities could be improved.

    Career Prospects and Placements

    * Unfortunately, placements for M.Sc. students are limited, especially in the biophysics, biochemistry, and microbiology departments.
    * Most students reported having to rely on self-initiated efforts to secure internships or employment opportunities.
    * Some companies may visit the campus for recruitments, but these are rare.

    Other Aspects

    * Campus life is lively, with regular cultural fests and events organized by the university.
    * Student organizations and clubs cater to various interests, fostering a sense of community.
    * However, some students felt that the emphasis on education over extracurricular activities could be improved.

    In conclusion, while Panjab University offers a strong educational foundation and supportive faculty, the career prospects and placement opportunities for M.Sc. students are somewhat limited. Therefore, students considering investing in an M.Sc. programme at Panjab University must weigh the pros and cons carefully, taking into account their individual goals and aspirations.

    Here are some key takeaways:

    * Strong academics and faculty support
    * Limited career prospects and placement opportunities
    * Good infrastructure and facilities
    * Vibrant campus life with regular events and activities

    Hi Mitra, for getting admission in government colleges you need a valid PU-CET score but in private colleges, some college give you direct admission through your good academic performance of 10+2 level. Best of luck.

    Yes, of course, you can get there without admission test on the basis of 12th. It provides B.Sc- biotech. But, the difference lie in quality. There are very few colleges in India have world class equipment for doing biotechnology.
