Overall University is very good. I think only one thing which needs improvement is placement.
Placements: There is no such placement cell in the department. Professors can help you in the placements but all you have to done by yourself. There is a internship in Masters but No stifund will be given to you in this internship too. The internship can be of 1 year depends upon your capability.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are very good. Wi-Fi is provided to every student in hostel and department. Labs are clean and well. The quality of food provided in mess and canteen is good and cheaper in price. Hostel is large and rooms are well ventilated.
Faculty: Professors are well educated and highly knowledgeable. All have doctorate degrees while some of have double Ph.D. too. They are helpful and guide you. Teachers tells you application of your concept and also provides knowledge from industrial point of view. Semester exams are not much difficult if you have attended classes on regular basis.

Really happy and privileged to learn from one the best microbiologists of India.
Placements: I got here in 2020 in B.Sc (Hons. ) Microbiology. My 1.5 year went online due to COVID-19 Pandemic. However, after it went offline I was so thrilled to see such huge and well maintained campus. The Microbiology department of Panjab University has world class infrastructure and research place. There's no better place than this to learn the subject if you're really interested. Moreover the fee is also very less as compared to other government colleges. The hostels here are also very cheap and good. But when it comes to placement, I wish I could say good about that too. They don't do much placements here. But I feel if you study from here you'll definitely get good job because it's very reputed even abroad. Therefore, I would wholeheartedly welcome my fellow juniors who wish to join Panjab University for your studies.
Infrastructure: The laboratories are well-equipped and maintained with nearly all instruments that you may need. They are easily accessible to the students too. Every student gets a hands-on experience of the subject and gets trained really well in practical work which I feel. Is missing in other institutions. Microbiology department of PU has one of the best laboratories in the country.
Faculty: They have highly experienced and knowledgeable professors who are constantly working in other respective fields in something innovative and novel. The curriculum is also good and exams are also balanced and are par with world-class exams. They focus on practical knowledge more.
Other: I'm of 2020-23 batch (B.Sc hons. Microbiology).

    Review of Panjab University (PUCHD).
Placements: Above 60% is required to get placements. The salary packages offered are good in this stream. Many companies recruit many intelligent students, and students are satisfied with the salary packages.
Infrastructure: The hostel is not very good, but the facilities provided for this course are very good. Well-equipped and furnished labs are available. There are many departments in different streams. The food quality of the canteen is very good and nutritive. Medical facilities are also good.
Faculty: Teachers are very good and qualified. This course is effective for agriculture students because microbiology plays an important role in agriculture. Semester exams are easy.
Other: Students who score above 85% can get scholarships from the college. You can choose this stream if you want to be a microbiologist.

Best university experience in Chandigarh with highly knowledgeable professors and good science labs.
Placements: The microbiology department doesn't provide any placements. It doesn't have any placement cells. Some other departments such as B.Pharma and BDS have placement cells, but this is not the case with our department. If you have got admitted to B.Sc. you get the added benefit of an integrated M.Sc.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are fully air-conditioned. The seminar rooms are also air-conditioned. All the classrooms have projectors and whiteboards. The department also has its library. The microbiology department, along with the biotechnology department has its building. The labs are equipped with all the necessary lab instruments. The hostels are also good and the food provided is also good.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified and knowledgeable in their subjects. They guide us in our future perspective. The course is very relevant today in terms of the pandemic. Microbiologists have a role in many industries and the department labs prepare you for that. All the necessary protocols and practicals are carried out in the labs - such as PCR, DNA isolation, bacteriophage isolation, etc.
Other: The crowd and campus life of Panjab university are the best. The people are friendly and the nightlife of Chandigarh is well known. You can enjoy life here if you maintain a work-life balance. Many events and fests are organised at the university throughout the year and you can attend them free of cost.

The university provides practical exposure and experience.
Placements: In the department of microbiology, there are merely no placements, not even in other B.Sc. hons. courses in PU. We see M.Sc. final year students working much hard even during off hours, but at the end, they have to search for a job on their own.
Infrastructure: I think the department has the best infrastructure I have ever seen. This building was constructed recently (compared to other departments of section 14 of the university) in 2012. It has very nice and advanced labs where you get good knowledge and practical experience. In fact, the hostels of section 25 are also very good, and the food served in the mess is just like home made food.
Faculty: The professors are very well-qualified, and they all are Ph.D. holders. They have many years of experience. This course has industrial applications, so we get good knowledge and practical experience from laboratories. End-semester exams are moderate.
Other: Campus life is very good, and one will surely make tons of memories before leaving it. Many fests are held in the university. University life is just good, and in the end, you won't feel like leaving it.

Q:   Is M.A. at Panjab University worth the investment?

    A:
    {Source: M.A. students & alumni}

After analyzing the feedback from current students and alumni, here's a summary of the pros and cons:

    Pros:

    * Good faculty: Many students praised the professors' qualifications, knowledge, and approachability.
    * Well-structured course curriculum: The curriculum is relevant, and students appreciate the theoretical foundations.
    * Infrastructure and amenities: The campus is well-maintained, with decent facilities, including a library, gym, and recreational spaces.
    * Exposure to various activities: The university offers various extracurricular activities, festivals, and events, allowing students to explore their interests.

    Cons:

    * Placement record: The placement rate is relatively low, and many students rely on self-effort or pursuing higher education (e.g., NET or Ph.D.) for career advancement.
    * Limited industry connections: The university's ties with industries seem limited, resulting in fewer job opportunities for students.
    * Research-oriented internships: While some internships are available, they tend to be research-focused rather than corporate-driven, limiting practical experience.
    * Academic intensity: Some students felt that the course load was too heavy, with little scope for hands-on learning or industry application.

In conclusion, whether M.A. at Panjab University is worth the investment depends on individual goals and expectations. For those seeking a strong academic foundation and theoretical knowledge, the university seems suitable. However, for those looking for direct industry exposure, job guarantees, or extensive career opportunities, they may need to supplement their degree with additional efforts or consider alternative options.

Recommendation: If you're considering the M.A. programme at Panjab University, weigh the pros and cons carefully, focusing on your academic and career aspirations. Consider networking with faculty and peers, exploring extracurricular activities, and developing transferable skills to enhance your prospects.

    * The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, and the libraries have a wide range of book collections.
    * However, some students pointed out that the hostel facilities could be improved.

    Career Prospects and Placements

    * Unfortunately, placements for M.Sc. students are limited, especially in the biophysics, biochemistry, and microbiology departments.
    * Most students reported having to rely on self-initiated efforts to secure internships or employment opportunities.
