Subject-specific Test (SST) and General Test (GAT)
WAT: Writing Ability Test
The GAT part evaluates the candidate's aptitude and general knowledge. The SST portion assesses the candidate's familiarity with the field of study they intend to pursue. A candidate's writing abilities are evaluated in the WAT portion.

Admission to postgraduate programs at Central University of Punjab is entirely based on performance in the CUET PG exam. Your other academic credentials, such as the grades you earned in your bachelor's degree, won't be taken into account by the university for admission.

I am satisfied with our college, and there are good faculty members and library facility.
Placements: As I have not passed out yet, I don't have much idea about placements. However, according to our seniors, the placement cell of the science department is not very good.
Infrastructure: The department fulfils every facility required by the students. Labs are well maintained, and the Wi-Fi facility is available. Classrooms are good, and the library is also fine. Although some types of equipment in the lab are damaged, such problems are manageable. I am not facing any kind of difficulty in our department. I am a resident of GH-3, but the hostel building here is very old. Rooms are not spacious enough. One student is provided with only half of the portion of almirah, which is very difficult to adjust all the clothes as well as books. However, the quality of the food served in the mess and canteen is good, so there are no issues with it.
Faculty: Teachers here are qualified, knowledgeable and hard working. The course curriculum is also relevant, and there is no need to compromise with the study. If any student wants to study, adequate facilities are available.

Overall, it is a good place for education but not that good for placements.
Placements: Punjab University is not that good regarding placements. A very few students get placed from Punjab University. Students who got placed are also not much satisfied with their jobs. Very few companies visit the campus for placements whereas the strength of the college is very high.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the university is very good. Students and teachers also get satisfied with it. The library is very good. The parks and roads are very good. Classrooms are also very good and ventilated. There are sufficient parking spaces in the college, and it is well maintained.
Faculty: The office workers are not that good at the university. Many students have to face problems with the official work related to the administration block. The examination results from the university are very much delayed. The course curriculum is very good.

Excellent campus life, but the department is below average.
Placements: There are no placements. There is no placement cell either so that the students can get the jobs. The university is good for studying purposes, but if someone is looking for good job offers, it is not a good place for them. Those who have to pursue further M.Sc or PhD should only consider this university for admission.
Infrastructure: There is an average infrastructure, and department building needs maintenance. The equipment available in the laboratories are also not good in condition, some are working, and some are not. There are no projectors available in the classrooms which are the drawbacks. The campus life is excellent. There are many or various food courts available in the university.
Faculty: The faculty members are experienced and NET qualified, but their way of teaching is old, and they are not supportive. There is a lot of nepotism going on in the faculty. If there is any job available for professors, they try to appoint relatives or known, and some faculty has also worked after having 2-3 job extensions. The syllabus is not up to date.

Q:   Is M.A. at Panjab University worth the investment?

    A:
    {Source: M.A. students & alumni}

After analyzing the feedback from current students and alumni, here's a summary of the pros and cons:

    Pros:

    * Good faculty: Many students praised the professors' qualifications, knowledge, and approachability.
    * Well-structured course curriculum: The curriculum is relevant, and students appreciate the theoretical foundations.
    * Infrastructure and amenities: The campus is well-maintained, with decent facilities, including a library, gym, and recreational spaces.
    * Exposure to various activities: The university offers various extracurricular activities, festivals, and events, allowing students to explore their interests.

    Cons:

    * Placement record: The placement rate is relatively low, and many students rely on self-effort or pursuing higher education (e.g., NET or Ph.D.) for career advancement.
    * Limited industry connections: The university's ties with industries seem limited, resulting in fewer job opportunities for students.
    * Research-oriented internships: While some internships are available, they tend to be research-focused rather than corporate-driven, limiting practical experience.
    * Academic intensity: Some students felt that the course load was too heavy, with little scope for hands-on learning or industry application.

In conclusion, whether M.A. at Panjab University is worth the investment depends on individual goals and expectations. For those seeking a strong academic foundation and theoretical knowledge, the university seems suitable. However, for those looking for direct industry exposure, job guarantees, or extensive career opportunities, they may need to supplement their degree with additional efforts or consider alternative options.

Recommendation: If you're considering the M.A. programme at Panjab University, weigh the pros and cons carefully, focusing on your academic and career aspirations. Consider networking with faculty and peers, exploring extracurricular activities, and developing transferable skills to enhance your prospects.

Q:   Is M.Sc. at Panjab University worth the investment?

    A:
    {Source: M.Sc. students & alumni}

Based on the reviews and feedback from current students and alumni, here's an analysis of whether an M.Sc. degree from Panjab University is worth the investment:

    Academics and Faculty

    * The faculty members are generally considered helpful, experienced, and knowledgeable in their respective fields.
    * The course curriculum is relevant and covers both theoretical and practical aspects of the subject.
    * Some students mentioned that the professors could be more punctual and humble.

    Infrastructure and Facilities

    * The university has modern facilities, including Wi-Fi, libraries, and well-equipped labs.
    * The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, and the libraries have a wide range of book collections.
    * However, some students pointed out that the hostel facilities could be improved.

    Career Prospects and Placements

    * Unfortunately, placements for M.Sc. students are limited, especially in the biophysics, biochemistry, and microbiology departments.
    * Most students reported having to rely on self-initiated efforts to secure internships or employment opportunities.
    * Some companies may visit the campus for recruitments, but these are rare.

    Other Aspects

    * Campus life is lively, with regular cultural fests and events organized by the university.
    * Student organizations and clubs cater to various interests, fostering a sense of community.
    * However, some students felt that the emphasis on education over extracurricular activities could be improved.
