Thapar University offers four-year full-time BE/BTech courses at the undergraduate level. Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology admission to all the BE/BTech courses is based on candidates' performance in the JEE Main entrance exam except BTech in Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering. TIET BTech admission to Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering is based on valid NEET 2023 marks, followed by a counselling process. TIET 50% of the seats will be filled basis of NEET scores and the rest 50% of the seats shall be filled on the basis of merit of marks obtained in Class 12 or equivalent examination in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry and, Biology.

Thapar University admission to the BTech course is a two-way process, one is entrance-based and another is merit-based. Interested candidates can apply for TIET BTech admission either way. Thapar University's 50% of seats will be filled on the basis of JEE Main scores and the rest 50% is based on the marks secured in the Class 12 examination. Thapar University BE/BTech fee range between INR 8.85 Lakh and INR 14.58 lakh. The fee mentioned here is the total tuition fee and is taken from an unofficial source. Hence, is indicative. Apart from the mentioned tuition fee, candidates are also required to pay a one-time fee of INR 23,000 which includes the admission fee and institute security. Candidates applying on the basis of their Class 12 marks must have passed the examination with not less than 70% marks (65% for SC/ST candidates).

Thapar University offers a four-year full-time BE/BTech course in Computer Science & Engineering at the undergraduate level. TIET offers a BTech CSE programme with a total seat intake of 180 students. The total tuition fee for TIET BTech CSE course is INR 14.58Lacs (As per an unofficial source). Talking about the placement of Thapar University BTech course, the median package offered was INR 8 LPA during TIET placements 2021. Considering the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking 2023, TIET was ranked 20 in the Engineering category. So, considering all these factors TIET is not a bad option for BTech CSE admission.

Hence, it is expected that Thapar University will release the admission dates for the 2025 batch accordingly.

Both the colleges are equally good, but I will vote for Thapar University, Patiala because of the standard which the University has maintained since its establishment. I will try to distinguish between both colleges with the help of certain parameters:

• ADMISSION PROCESS: Thapar University admits its students on the basis of JEE main marks. Usually cutoff goes higher for Computer engineering (around 180). While SRM University conducts its own examination called SRMJEE.
• CAMPUS: SRM University has a very good and beautiful campus. Student intake is higher at SRM University. 
• Thaper don't have any management quota seat whereas SRM had few seats reserved for the management quota. The fee is almost similar in both colleges. And location-wise Chennai has the upper hand over Patiala.
