It has a different environment, multiple entries and multiple existing careers for students.
Placements: Nearly 70% of the eligible students get placed in reputed core and non-core companies like MRP Tyre, TCS, TVS and Caterpillar Inc. The highest salary package offered was 6 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 3.5 LPA. About 80% of students volunteer approached different companies for internships. Some students travel abroad in the youth exchange programme. It taught current industrial practice theoretically and made us do industrial projects.
Infrastructure: The entire department is covered with Wi-Fi and good and digital classrooms. It provides good facilities. Each department has its own built library with foreign and local authors. It has a clean and peaceful hostel facility with a gym and sports arena.
Faculty: It provides current industry practice and implements more solutions to more case studies. Relatively, the course curriculum is easy to understand, and it is not to mug up. They are updating their syllabus periodically by consulting industry experts and students and parents. Nearly 95% of students finish their studies on time.
Other: Our college organises an event named Kurukshetra. There are more clubs. There is excellent support from faculty members and pass out seniors.

My review about the college.
Placements: The placements are too good. All my seniors are placed with good packages and expecting the same for us. Even though people go with IT companies like TCS, CTS, core companies also come to our college and recruiting our college students. So 100% placement is guaranteed.
Infrastructure: The college has good infrastructure. It is an old one, but it is a gold one. The red building is the most attracting place in our college. The students sit and study there because of the silent environment. Our canteen is a place where we share knowledge and food. I love this environment.
Faculty: The teaching through knowledge which they acquired is commonly seen. Some staffs teach with books and notes. There is a good valuation of papers and teachers helps to rectify our problems and in a friendly manner. They teach only with knowledge, some with PPT and they give materials for our references.
Other: More and more events are conducted. Every month there will be one fest either technical or non-technical.

Good college filled with toppers across Tamil Nadu.
Placements: Around 60% of then students got placed. The highest package offered was 10 Lacs per annum. Core companies like Caterpillar visit to hire but mostly IT service companies hire the students. Roles like Industrial Engineer, Data Engineer, Software Engineer, and Data analyst were offered.
Infrastructure: The college has good infrastructure for the departmental building. Hostel qualities were very average. Common rest rooms are there which are cleaned daily. Mess food was very good and they provide a lot of varieties for the students. Free medical centre for students is also there.
Faculty: Some teachers are good while the others are average. You're lucky if you get good teachers for the mechanical subjects. Course curriculum is relevant for jobs, still they should update it to the latest trends. Semester exams difficulty level is average and the passing percentage is above 70%.

Excellent teaching and campus life.
Placements: The placements for our seniors batch and our batch were very good. Few companies that visited the college were Ford, GM, Hyundai, Whirlpool, Tolaram, Mu-Sigma, and Latent View. The package range was around 4-7 LPA. 100% placements were achieved. The roles of a data analyst, supply chain, industrial engineer, etc. were offered.
Infrastructure: The college has all facilities that are best in class including Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, library and medical facilities. The quality of food is average. The canteens are good and very economical. The hostel rooms can be ranked as above average. Fests are conducted at a grand level, and we have the strongest alumni network.
Faculty: The faculty are very good, and every faculty will have both industrial and academic experience. They are very helpful and teach the subject in a pretty good matter. The course curriculum was the best when compared to all over India. Teaching methods made sure that we will be exposed to various live case studies and group presentations.

Students also asked

Q:   Does College of Engineering Guindy accept JEE score?

A:
Yes, the Government College of Engineering (CEG) in Guindy, Chennai accepts JEE Main scores for admission to its B.Tech programs

However, some colleges conduct their own entrance exams instead of relying on JEE scores.

For Tamil Nadu students, admissions are based on normalised aggregate marks in Class XII PCM through TNEA counselling. For other state students, admissions are based on Anna University counselling.

Other engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu that accept JEE Main scores include:

  • National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy
  • Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Chennai
  • Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy (SASTRA University), Thanjavur

Absolutely, the Government College of Engineering (CEG) in Guindy, Chennai recognizes the importance of JEE Main scores for admission into its B.Tech programs. However, it's noteworthy that certain institutions may opt for their own entrance exams as an alternative to JEE scores.

For aspiring engineers from Tamil Nadu, the admission process is distinct. It hinges on the normalized aggregate marks in Class XII Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, assessed through the TNEA counseling. On the flip side, students from other states find their gateway through Anna University counseling.

Diversifying the options, other reputable engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu also open their doors to JEE Main achievers. The National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Trichy, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) in Chennai, and the Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy (SASTRA University) in Thanjavur are among the esteemed institutions welcoming candidates based on their JEE Main scores.

This dynamic approach to admissions ensures that aspiring engineers have multiple avenues to pursue their academic and professional dreams, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment in the realm of engineering education.
