Political Economy is a branch of Economics that studies production and trade and their relations with law, custom, and the government. Political Economy deals with the distribution of national income, and wealth, and how economic theories affect various socio-economic societies such as socialism and communism with the implementation of public policy. Originating from ‘Moral Philosophy’ in the 18th century, Political Economy came into place with the rise of a mathematical proponent of mathematical methods applied to the subject and advocated by economics. There are various types of economies as well and Political Economy is split into two sections which are Political Economy and Modern Political Economy.

There are three types of Economy, Free Market Economies, command, and mixed. There are many theories and research works used when it comes to studying Political Economy. Students can opt to study Political Economy from a Political point of view or an Economic point of view.

The candidate should have done their BA in Economics or any equivalent discipline and should have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate.

MA in Applied Economics

The candidate should have done their BA in Economics or any equivalent discipline and should have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate.

MA in Political Science

2-Years

The candidate should have done their BA in Political Science/Economics from a recognised University and should have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate.

MPhil in Economics

The candidate should have done their MA in Economics/MCom from a recognised University and secured a minimum of 55% aggregate.

PhD in Economics

3 to 5 Years

The candidate should have done their MA/MCom/MPhil from a recognised University and should have secured  minimum of 60% aggregate.
