Jasmine Dang AroraDeputy Manager-Content
Political Sociology is a branch of sociology that studies the sociological analysis of political phenomena which range from State to the civil society to other aspects such as citizenship, social movements, and the sources of social power. In simple terms, Political Sociology is the study of power and the relationship between societies and political conflicts. The ideologies of Political Sociology were discussed by the founding fathers of Sociology such as Karl Marx, Emile Durkheim, and Max Webber to theorists such as Gellner, Anthony Giddens, Jurgen Habermas, and Michael Mann.
Ideologies and questions are asked such as ‘Why should one vote? What difference does it make if we do not vote? What will be the conclusion?' Political Sociology was originally concerned with social trends, the dynamics and structures of formal political processes, and understanding the different types of framework. Students who study and specialize in Political Sociology, learn about the questions which were brought up in Medieval History and how governments have been coming down for ages. Students can opt to pursue a course in either Political Science or Sociology. Political Sociologists generally started understanding the sources and consequences of revolutions, the role of political institutions, state development, political outcomes, and the use of power and decisions.
