What is the Eligibility for SBI Clerk?

SBI Clerk 2024 is a graduation-level exam conducted to recruit Junior Associates. Candidates from any stream/discipline can apply for SBI Clerk 2024 exam. SBI Clerk age limit prescribed for the exam is 20 to 28 years. Candidates applying for the SBI Clerk vacancies of a particular state should be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the local language of the respective state.

Q:   What is SBI Clerk Eligibility?

A:

SBI Clerk criteria:- A candidate who is aspiring to apply for the SBI Clerk exam must be an Indian citizen. Candidates must fulfill the following educational requirements to apply for the SBI Clerk Prelims examination. 1.Prospective candidates must have a Graduation degree in any stream from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification which is recognized by the Central Government. They must make sure the passing certificate shows the date the relevant degree was earned. 2.Candidates who have an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) certificate should ensure that the date of passing of the IDD is as per the guidelines given in the notification. 3.Those who are in the final year/ semester of their graduation may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if provisionally selected, they will have to produce proof of having passed the graduation examination  4.As per the SBI Clerk qualification criteria, the candidates need to mandatorily indicate the percentage theyve obtained in the Graduation degree and calculate it to the nearest two decimals in the online application form. 5.For Matriculate Ex-servicemen, prospective applicants should have obtained the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education or corresponding certificate in the Navy or Air Force, after completing at least 15 years of service in the Armed Forces of the Union. Age limit:- Not below 20 years and not above 28 years i.e. candidates must have been born not earlier than 02.08.1994 and not later than 01.08.2002 (both days inclusive). The details regarding the age limit and the relaxation in upper age are clearly given in the official notification. SBI Clerk Eligibility 2024: Nationality

Candidates must be:

  • Citizenship of India
  • The subject of Nepal and Bhutan
  • Tibetan refugees who have come to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in the country
  • Persons of Indian origin who have migrated from countries like Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, the United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya.

Note: Candidates other than permanent citizens of India must get an eligibility certificate approved by the Government of India in their favour.

Q:   Can an SBI Clerk become a manager?

A:
Yes, an SBI Clerk can become a manager. The State Bank of India offers many opportunities for junior associates (clerk) to advance in a banking career. Prior to being qualified for a promotion based on merit, you must finish a required service period as a junior associate. You can become a manager in the following ways: 1. Become a trainee officer after qualifying for an internal examination. This option is available after three years and is a reasonably challenging route. After getting upgraded to the TO post, you can advance to the post of manager at a later stage. 2. Become a Junior Manager Grade Officer Scale-I by passing an internal exam after six years of service. You can rise to the post of assistant general manager or higher. 3. After six years of service, you can apply for the OJM internal exam to get promoted to officer rank under the fast track promotion channel. Under the normal promotion channel, you need to have completed 12 years of service to be considered for officer promotion.

Q:   Can Class 12 students apply for SBI Clerk exam?

Candidates who are studying in their Class 12 are not eligible to apply for SBI Clerk exam. To apply for SBI Clerk exam candidates must be a graduate. Those who are in their final year of graduation can apply for the exam provisionally. 

Q:   How is SBI Clerk qualifying marks determined?

A:
The qualifying marks are estimated based on the following factors: Total number of candidates who appear in the SBI Clerk exam Total number of vacancies available Difficulty level of the exam Reservation system There are no sectional cut off marks in the exam. Candidates are only required to secure the overall cut off marks as per their categories in the exam. The cut off marks for the prelims exam are decided out of 100 marks whereas the cut off marks for the mains exam are decided based on the 200 marks. Candidates securing equal to or more than the cut off marks are selected for the next round of the recruitment process. SBI Clerk cut off marks are the minimum qualifying marks that candidates need to secure inorder to qualify the exam.

  • Candidates having integrated dual degree (IDD) certificates can also apply for the SBI Clerk exam
  • Those who are in the final year/ semester of their graduation may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if provisionally selected, they will have to produce proof of having passed the Graduation

Important Points Related to SBI Clerk Educational Qualification

  • The date of passing the eligibility examination is the date appearing on the mark sheet/certificate or provisional certificate issued by the University/Institute. In case the result of a particular examination is posted on the website of the University/ Institute, a certificate issued by the appropriate authority of the University/Institute indicating the date on which the result was posted on the website will be taken as the date of passing
  • Matriculate Ex-servicemen, who have obtained the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education or corresponding certificate in the Navy or Air Force, after having completed not less than 15 years of service in Armed Forces of the Union are also eligible for the post

SBI Clerk Eligibility 2024: Reservation for PWD/XS/DXS

The reservation provided to PWD/XS/DXS is given below: 

  • The reservation of the OBC category is only applicable to the 'Non-creamy layer'. Candidates belonging to 'Creamy Layer' cannot avail of the benefits. They need to mention the 'General' or General (LD/VI/HI/ d&e) category
  • Candidates must provide the OBC certificate declaring the candidate to be of 'Non-creamy layer
  • EWS category candidates may avail of the benefits after they produce the 'Income and Asset Certificate' issued by the Government of India
  • Candidates who are currently associated with SBI or in the past are not eligible to appear in the exam
  • If there is an adverse report or weak CIBIL or other agency, such candidates will be rejected
  • PwD candidates need to produce the 'Disability Certificate' issued by Medical or any Component Authority in the district of residence
  • During the appointment, disabled Ex-servicemen and their dependents have priority over dependents of defense personnel killed or highly disabled (50 per cent)

SBI Clerk application form is released online by SBI. The application fee for the exam is INR 750 for General and OBC categories. SC/ ST/ PWD/ XS category candidates are exempted from fee payment. Candidates can follow the steps below to fill SBI Clerk application form:

SBI Clerk Selection Process

BI Clerk selection process comprises three stages, Preliminary exam, Mains exam and Test of specified opted local language. The prelims exam is qualifying in nature and the marks secured in this stage are not counted for the final merit list. The marks obtained in the mains exam are counted for the final merit list as per SBI Clerk selection process. Candidates qualifying the mains exam are called for the language proficiency test.

SBI Clerk Salary 2024

SBI Clerk salary is INR 19,900 (INR 17,900 with two advance increments). The payscale of Junior Associates as per SBI Clerk salary is INR 17900-1000/3-20900-1230/3-24590-1490/4-30550-1730/7-42600-3270/1-45930-1990/1-47920. Besides, candidates are also entitled to various perks and allowances.
