  • Translation/Typing of the documents from English to Hindi.
  • Ensuring the use/promotion of Hindi.
  • Any other work assigned by the superior authority.

Junior Translator in M/o Railways (Railway Board)

  • Translation of various documents from Hindi to English and vice-versa.
  • To assist Hindi Officer in organizing Hindi Meeting and Hindi Workshop.
  • Maintaining files and records relating to Hindi.

Junior Translator in Armed Forces Headquarters (AFHQ)

  • Translation of various documents from Hindi to English and vice-versa.
  • Maintaining the files and records relating to office work.

Junior Translator/Junior Hindi Translator in subordinate offices who have adopted Model RRs of DoP&T for JT/JHT

  • To translate various publications of official journals, books, forms, circulars, manuals, articles, etc. in Hindi and vice versa.
  • Translation of day to day official letters, office orders, departmental orders etc., from English to Hindi and vice versa.
  • To assist Hindi Officer in the implementation of work of official language policy and in various official matters.

Senior Hindi Translator in various Central Government Ministries, Departments, Offices

  • Translation/Typing of the documents from English to Hindi.
  • Ensuring the use/promotion of Hindi.
  • Any other work assigned by the superior authority.
  • Attending the Meeting of the Departments.

Junior Translator/Junior Hindi Translator in subordinate offices who have not yet adopted Model RRs of DoP&T for JT/JHT

  • To attend to all the work related to the implementation of Official language which includes translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa.

SSC JHT Eligibility Criteria 2022

SSC JHT eligibility has been announced along with the notification by the Staff Selection Commission. SSC JHT application process is underway and interested candidates can fill the application form till August 4. The last date to pay the application fees online and offline is August 5. To apply for SSC JHT 2022, candidaes need to fulfil the SSC JHT eligibility criteria 2022 laid down by SSC in terms of age limit, qualification, etc. SSC JHT age limit is 18 to 30 years as on January 1, 2022. SSC JHT qualification prescribed for the exam is master's degree.

A:

The educational qualification prescribed for SSC JHT exam is given below:

  • Master’s degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level OR
  • Master’s degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination OR
  • Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of an examination OR
  • Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level OR 
  • Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level and
  • Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or 2 years’ experience as a translator from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government Office, including Government of India Undertaking.

Q:   What is the criteria for the SSC JHT?

A:
The SSC JHT exam is conducted to hire translators in the government. The criteria to apply for the JHT are as follows: 1. Your age must be between 18 and 30 years old. 2. You need to have a master's degree in either Hindi or English . 3. If your degree is in any other subject than Hindi or English . It must be either an elective subject or a medium of examination. 4. You need to have a Diploma or Certificate of translation from Hindi to English and vice versa. 5. If you do not have the Diploma or Certificate you need to have two to three years of experience in translation in any government office.

Q:   What are the subjects included in SSC JHT exam?

A:

SSC JHT exam comprises two papers. Paper 1 consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions and questions are asked from two sections. On the other hand Paper 2 consists of descriptive-type questions. Before beginning with the preparation, candidates should check SSC JHT exam pattern to understand the overall structure of the exam. 

The work profile of SSC JHT is translating and typing documents in Hindi and implementation of language policy in various departments. Organizing meetings and workshops on the Hindi language and keeping records of all documents and files in the department.

SSC JHT Eligibility Criteria 2022: Nationality

Candidates must be either:

A citizen of India, or

A subject of Nepal, or

A subject of Bhutan, or

A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or

A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries such as Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates who have come from the above-mentioned countries must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

For postcodes E (Senior Hindi Translator in various Central Government Ministries/ Departments / Offices)

The eligibility criteria for this postcode are the same as A to D except the year of experience. For this post, candidates must have recognised diploma or certificate course in translation from Hindi to English and Vice Versa or three years’ experience of translation work from Hindi to English And Vice Versa in Central or State Government Office, including Government of India Undertaking. SSC JHT qualification for this post is given below:

Master’s degree of a recognized University in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level

Or,

Master’s degree of a recognized University in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level

or
Master’s degree of a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of a examination at the degree level
or
Master’s degree of a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level
or
Master’s Degree of a recognized University in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level

Important Points to Note:

  • Candidates must possess essential qualifications on or before the closing date for submission of online applications, i.e, August 4, 2022
  • As per Ministry of Human Resource Development Notification dated 10.06.2015 published in the Gazette of India all the degrees/ diplomas/ certificates awarded through
    Open and Distance Learning mode of education by the Universities established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature, Institutions Deemed to be Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 and Institutions of National Importance declared under an Act of Parliament stand automatically recognized for the purpose of employment to posts and services under the Central Government provided they have been approved by the Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission. Accordingly, unless such degrees are recognized for the relevant period when the candidates acquired the qualification, they will not be accepted for the purpose of Educational Qualification
  • As per UGC (Open and Distance Learning) Regulations, 2017 published in official Gazette on 23-06-2017, under Part-III (8) (v), the programmes in engineering, medicine, dental, nursing, pharmacy, architecture and physiotherapy etc are not permitted to be offered under Open and Distance Learning mode. However, pursuant to the Hon’ble Supreme Court Order dated 11-03-2019 in MA No. 3092/2018 in W.P. (C) No. 382/2018 titled Mukul Kumar Sharma & others Vs AICTE and others, B. Tech. degree/ diploma in Engineering awarded by IGNOU to the students who were enrolled up to academic year 2009-10 shall be treated as valid, wherever applicable
  • All candidates who are declared qualified by the Commission in Computer Base Examination will be required to produce all relevant Certificates in original such as Mark sheets/Provisional Degree/Diploma Certificate as proof of having acquired the minimum educational qualification on or before 04.08.2022 failing which the candidature of such candidates will be cancelled by the Commission
