B.Tech. in Textile Technology - Batch of 2028

IIT is known not for its infrastructure, but for the people present here.
Placements: I am from the textile department of IIT Delhi, and I agree that there is very little probability of being placed in my department because, in lower branches, we have to build our own skills to get placement. What IIT gives us is just an environment and connections with good people.
Infrastructure: Talking about infrastructure, the college has good infrastructure on 350 acres, but the hostel condition at IIT Delhi is not good as there are 4 students in one small room. However, medical facilities and mess food are pretty much better than my expectations.
Faculty: In IIT Delhi, most of the professors are doing research, and they are foreign book authors. They are really helpful. Apart from professors, we are provided with TAs to clear out doubts. In older IITs, the education system is outdated; it should be better and modern technology-based so that students can be ready for the industry.
Other: I chose this course in Textile Technology at IIT Delhi to get exposure, and I think the campus surroundings are really good for exposure.

IIT Delhi - Dream college of every JEE aspirant.
Placements: Approximately 85% of students were placed from the passing-out batch. The highest package was about 72 LPA, and the average package varies from about 17-24 LPA depending on the year and recession. Approximately 55% of students landed internships from our batch, and top recruiters were 2CentsCapital, Piramal, Dr. Reddy Pharma, IOCL, GAIL, SAIL, BAIN, McKinsey, etc., for the roles of Quant Developer, Core Engineer, Consultant, etc.
Infrastructure: The academic infrastructure is well-versed and of international standards, but one might get disappointed by the hostels if you end up in older hostels such as Shivalik and Vindhyachal. Rest, you get a free medical hospital and Mittal Sports Complex with world-class sports facilities.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable, but sometimes you might come across bad teachers despite their high knowledge. I personally believe the course component is a little bit old and needs to be revamped. The semester exams are really very tough, but passing is not too difficult.
Other: I feel many of us choose the course because of our ranks, not because of what we want to study. Although what I like about IIT is it offers you the flexibility to take courses from other departments as well. The rest—events, crowd, Hauz Khas area, ECAs—everything is at par with the best you can get in India.

IIT Delhi: The average college in India.
Placements: IIT Delhi has a strong placement record for Textile Engineering students. About 80% of students secure jobs through campus placements. The placement cell works with top recruiters to provide students with valuable preparation resources and support.
Infrastructure: IIT Delhi's hostel infrastructure is in dire need of an upgrade. Many of the hostels are over 60 years old, and have seen minimal renovation or upgrades in recent years. A modern update would greatly improve the overall living experience. The IITD hospital also has its limitations, with a shortage of well-qualified doctors and outdated facilities. This can make it challenging for students to receive quality medical care on campus. On a positive note, the library stands out as a valuable resource, offering a well-organized, quiet space for study, with a wide range of academic resources and materials that effectively support the academic needs of students.
Faculty: IIT Delhi's Textile Engineering department has highly qualified, knowledgeable, and committed professors. They make complex topics understandable and help students develop technical skills and analytical thinking. However, the administration, including certain deans and the academic body, can be difficult to deal with. Their strict policies and rigid grading practices can be stressful and affect students' CGPA outcome. Students may feel that there is less flexibility and support for their well-being and academic growth.

Really good infrastructure (classroom).
Placements: 30-40% students get placed. 20 Lacs is the highest package, I am not very sure about the lowest package. Everyone has to do a research internship during the summer break. People usually go to other IITs, etc. Top roles are analyst, UX/UI designer. 40-50% people go for Ph.D.
Infrastructure: Classrooms and library are the best. Lab is not that good, we have EEG, TMR, eye tracker, etc. devices, but the space is less. The lab is small. Hostel facilities are really amazing. There is a lot of variety in food. IIT'D has a hospital, so medical facilities are good. Mental health support system could be strengthened.
Faculty: The course may not be very helpful for making the students industry-ready, but yes, they make you research-ready. It's a research-oriented course. Semester exams are moderately difficult. If one is consistent in classes, they will be able to maintain a CGPA above 8/10. 90-95% students pass the semester exams.
Other: I was interested in human mind and behaviour, so I chose this course. More psychology courses can be added as options. The number of compulsory Linguistics courses can be reduced. More lab sessions can be included in the curriculum. The best thing about the course is its interdisciplinary nature. You get to learn a lot about many different disciplines like psychology, linguistics, AI, etc. Obviously, the fest is one of the best parts of campus life. Connectivity is good. Both academic buildings and hostels have a nearby metro station (within 500m). Merit-cum-Means scholarship is offered to meritorious students. Cobotics offers a paid fellowship to cognitive science students. Half of the students work part-time on their projects.

Get a view of IIT Delhi from inside.
Placements: About 80% of students who sit for placements are placed. Most are placed in teaching or consulting fields, rather than their core field of study. However, everyone is generally satisfied with the placement process, as they want to be placed in these areas anyway. The remaining students either pursue higher education or prepare for civil services exams.
Infrastructure: The hostel has a gym, reading rooms, dance room, music room, and other facilities. We can borrow and use the musical instruments and sports equipment. The hostel does not have single rooms for girls; they share either double or triple rooms. The mess food is good, but it is north Indian cuisine, so it may not suit students from southern India.
Faculty: A few faculty members are good, but the majority are rude and will give us a hard time pursuing our course. The syllabus is hard, and we have to be consistent in order to get good grades. The college has been asked to change the structure, but no action has been taken yet. Although there are mid-semester reviews taken from students and committee meetings are held, the reviews are taken very seriously, and improvisations are made. We can always take courses other than those suggested under open courses or departmental electives. Exams are of medium difficulty, and the passing criterion is 30 marks, whereas an A grade is awarded for 80+ marks.
Other: I chose this course because I liked Physics and my rank allowed me to. The best thing about the course is that the labs are worth 3 credits, which helps maintain your GPA. The course is challenging, which forces you to study and appreciate the importance of studying. The course could be improved by increasing interaction among students and providing proof of learning. Campus life is good, with lots to explore. The campus is small but good, and it's nice to be able to walk around. There are lots of sports to play, and various festivals, including the cultural fest RDV in October, the technical fest TRYST in March, and others like Becon, Kaizen, Literati, Cosmicon, and Vibhinna. The campus is inclusive and friendly and safe for everyone. The campus is in Hauz Khas, a rich area in South Delhi, but everything on campus is affordable. There are many food outlets on campus that run during the day, and each hostel has a night mess that runs during the nights. There are various scholarships available.

Absolutely dissatisfied.
Placements: Placement Percentage: 85% of students were placed. Salary Packages: Highest: 35 LPA Lowest: 6 LPA Average: 12 LPA Top Recruiting Companies: Tata Steel, Larsen & Toubro, Bosch, Maruti Suzuki, and Mahindra. Internship Stats: 70% secured internships in companies like ISRO, BHEL, DRDO, and Tata Motors. Top Roles Offered: Operations Manager, Supply Chain Analyst, Quality Engineer, and Manufacturing Consultant. Negative Aspects of Production and Industrial at IIT Delhi (fictional): Limited focus on modern technologies, outdated curriculum in parts, and fewer research opportunities compared to CS or ECE. Students often find the coursework theoretical with less industry-aligned practical exposure.
Infrastructure: Facilities and Infrastructure for the Course/Department: Wi-Fi: High-speed campus-wide Wi-Fi access, including in classrooms and labs. Labs: Well-equipped labs with modern machinery for manufacturing, CAD/CAM, automation, and quality control. Classrooms: Smart classrooms with projectors, air-conditioning, and ergonomic seating. Library: A central library with a vast collection of course materials, research papers, and digital resources. Hostel and Campus Facilities: Hostel Quality: Decent rooms with good ventilation, regular cleaning, and Wi-Fi connectivity. Mess and Canteen: Mess food is average with a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, though repetitive. Canteens offer better variety and taste but at a higher cost. Medical Facilities: A 24/7 health center with doctors on call, a pharmacy, and ambulance services. Sports and Games: State-of-the-art sports complexes for indoor and outdoor games, including cricket, football, badminton, gymnasium, and swimming pool.
Faculty: Teaching Quality: While the teachers are qualified and knowledgeable, many fail to engage students effectively. Some rely on outdated teaching methods, making lectures monotonous and theoretical, with limited practical insights. Course Curriculum: The curriculum lacks updates to align with industry demands, focusing heavily on traditional topics. Emerging technologies like AI, IoT, and sustainability are either missing or poorly integrated, leaving students underprepared for modern industrial roles. Semester Exams: Exams are moderately difficult, but the focus is more on rote learning than critical thinking or problem-solving. This approach often frustrates students who aim for industry-relevant skills. The pass percentage hovers around 85%, with many barely scraping through due to poorly designed assessments.
Other: That was the best course I was getting. I am trying to change course. Initially, events were good. The fest was boring, tbh. Regarding campus crowd, you will find many people of different types. Just choose the correct peer group. Campus surroundings (air is polluted). Scholarship is only for those with income less than 5 Lacs. Extracurricular activities are only for CV. If you are not good, you won't be selected.
