Q:   Which college is better IIT Kanpur or IIT Delhi for BTech?

Q:   Which college is better for B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering: IIT Delhi or IIT Bombay?

A:

The course outline of mechanical in IIT Delhi or IIT Bombay is similar and is quite well aligned with the course structure of top ranked international universities and the mechanical is one of the most desired and demanded branches in the IITs. The universities stand on similar QS ranking level and the facility and quality of infrastructure on average is almost the same in both the campuses, IITB has a lake, a pretty larger campus than that of IITD whereas IITD stands in a very desired location of Delhi ( in Hauz Khas) which stands very close to the international airport and various railway stations and is comparatively very green and clean than the outer Delhi. The trends of placement or students going for further studies differ very less and if you are really relying on placements to be a deciding factor, you'll still be in doubt. If we look at the opening and closing ranks of the department in both the colleges, the mechanical in IITB opens before it starts at IITD and also closes some numbers before, but the range is quite same. Many people choose IITB for its past trend or some local variables and similarly people also choose IITD if they aspire to go for civil services as Delhi is the hub for the preparation for UPSC and other civil services and again the accessibility of the nearby regions. I'd say both of the campus stand on the same level if the department is considered, the selection is totally depend on the individual depending on the local variables that affects him/her.

Q:   What is the cutoff for BTech in Energy Engineering at IIT Delhi for other than general categories?

A:

The 2022 year cutoff ranks for BTech in Energy Engineering at IIT Delhi other than General category was - 1910 for OBC, 1108 for SC, 627 for ST, and 573 for EWS. I am satisfied because of a good peer group and great placement opportunities.
Placements: This year, nearly 88% of students got placed in our course. The highest salary package offered was 1.35 crores per annum, and the lowest salary package offered was 7 LPA. Average salary package offered was 14 LPA. Top recruiting companies were Amazon, Flipkart, and Jaguar. Nearly all the students get internships in tech-based companies like Ola, Uber, Zomato, and Swiggy. Top roles offered were software development engineer (SDE) and consulting manager.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi works fine everywhere in our institute. Labs are equipped with all the required machines and instruments, and the lab sessions are quite interactive and learning-oriented. Classrooms are fully air-conditioned and have a good infrastructure. The library is also great, and it is open from 8 AM to 3 AM for all the students. The hostel is a bit lacking in facilities and is very old. Food in the mess and canteen is perfect and served with good hygiene. The mess menu also covers all types of food for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Medical facilities are not that good. We have a separate IIT hospital, but it is not completely equipped for good medical treatments. Sports and games facilities are top-notch. One can explore whichever game they like and excel in that.
Faculty: Teachers were helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is great, and teaching is more research-oriented rather than just cramming the formulas. The course curriculum is also relevant. It makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are pretty much difficult, and students will have to work hard if they want to score good grades. The pass percentage is 30%.
Other: I chose this course because I was allotted this course through JoSAA counseling. I wish that the grading system of our course could be better. Events, fests, and campus crowds are very much happening and filled with interesting people.

The college life of an IIT Delhi.
Placements: 80% of the students from the textile department were placed, which made up an AVG package of 19LPA but no one was placed in the core sector. All the students were placed in the teaching sector. Amazon and Goldman Sachs were the top recruiters. The highest package from textiles was 31 LPA.
Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi speed is excellent. The food is good, but not great. The medical facilities are excellent. The rooms don't have air conditioning. Only the common rooms in the hostels have air conditioning. B.Tech students don't get air conditioning in their rooms, but M.Tech students get centralized air conditioning. The menu is good, and the drinking water is good.
Faculty: IIT Delhi has pretty good professors who are very knowledgeable and to the point. However, the course curriculum is not relevant for placements. If you want to get placed, you need to go into the teaching sector. Also, the grading system for semester exams at IIT Delhi is much tougher than the grading systems of other colleges.
Other: The fests like Rezvendous and Tryst are the best in the whole nation. The crowd is pretty good, and the alumni network is very good. The startup culture is really good too, which makes for excellent overall growth.

IIT Delhi: The average college in India.
Placements: IIT Delhi has a strong placement record for Textile Engineering students. About 80% of students secure jobs through campus placements. The placement cell works with top recruiters to provide students with valuable preparation resources and support.
Infrastructure: IIT Delhi's hostel infrastructure is in dire need of an upgrade. Many of the hostels are over 60 years old, and have seen minimal renovation or upgrades in recent years. A modern update would greatly improve the overall living experience. The IITD hospital also has its limitations, with a shortage of well-qualified doctors and outdated facilities. This can make it challenging for students to receive quality medical care on campus. On a positive note, the library stands out as a valuable resource, offering a well-organized, quiet space for study, with a wide range of academic resources and materials that effectively support the academic needs of students.
Faculty: IIT Delhi's Textile Engineering department has highly qualified, knowledgeable, and committed professors. They make complex topics understandable and help students develop technical skills and analytical thinking. However, the administration, including certain deans and the academic body, can be difficult to deal with. Their strict policies and rigid grading practices can be stressful and affect students' CGPA outcome. Students may feel that there is less flexibility and support for their well-being and academic growth.

IIT Delhi Inside - Have a look what's inside.
Placements: IITD placements are good. If you work hard, you can easily get a 30+ LPA package, and if you're consistent from the first year itself, you can earn up to crores as well. Top companies like Google, Microsoft, McKinsey, and Jane Street visit during placement season. We have a placement cell in our college that helps in aiding the placement and internship process.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure includes a lot of labs that many other colleges don’t have. It’s a good college for research, and besides the labs, the equipment is really expensive. The academic blocks are well-maintained, and the buildings are well-kept. The lecture hall, where most of the classes are held, is air-conditioned and generates its own electricity.
Faculty: The faculty has a spectrum of professors. Some are good, and some are not. Some of them are willing to offer research internships to assist with their work. Their teaching styles aren’t what most students expect, and very few can teach well, so you should be independent enough to learn their content elsewhere.

Good placement and campus life.
Placements: I am currently enrolled in a course so I can't talk about the placements but I have heard that average package is of 10LPA in any branch. Actually, most of the students here wanted to open a startup or they are preparing for government. Exams. They do not want package under 10LPA.
Infrastructure: There is Wi-Fi available on the campus and the campus is huge by itself and hostels are pretty average here can't complain about them and the food here in udaigiri hostel is really good. The hostel life is something that everyone should experience.
Faculty: The teachers are really helpful and every professor here has a different personality and vibe. We love to spend some time with them. The textile department is required for every department present till now. The students are obviously industry ready. The semester exams are really difficult and it is hard to pass but vary from student to student.

It depends on the number of vacant seats in that branch. Moreover, you should have good marks in the 1st year, then only you can change your branch.

These numbers are never revealed. And also, this number keeps varying year by year. Sometimes it can be high and sometimes it can be low depending on how many students were able to grab those consult/tech jobs which usually pays higher than textile core jobs.

The exact numbers are never revealed. But it has to be the lowest among all other branches. Most of the students don't go for core jobs, and most of the students go for higher studies. Remaining students go for consultancy, analyst or coding profiles.
