    MERI MUMBAI - Marine Engineering
Placements: The campus has a good placement record. Companies like Fleet Management, Pacific Basin, MSC, etc., do come for placement. 100% placement of my batch (leaving me). Especially for female cadets, there are more than one option, but the prerequisite is no back papers.
Infrastructure: Quality of mess was great at the start but completely deteriorating after the pandemic. The buildings are always under construction. The mess used to serve us 4 times ( now 3 ) breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. It had non-veg as well as veg options. We used to look forward to Diwali dinner.
Faculty: It is good that the faculties are good. The curriculum is really prehistoric. You are not skilled in what the industry requires. Perhaps more of a rote learning. Examinations have separate passing criteria for internal and external exams. The level of external sem exams is tough , but comes with leniency in checking.
Other: Great, that is the campus’s USP. It used to have scholarships, but now they have stopped.

    Review of Indian Maritime University.
Placements: Since 2014, the campus holds the record for 100% placement ( 40 out of 40). Many companies like MSC, Fleet, Pacific Basin, OSM Thome, etc. recruit every year from this campus. The cadets are recruited as trainee marine engineers. The students will be offered an internship in the Mazagon Dockyard in the last semester (8th semester). Every student gets the internship for the same. The package varies from company to company, but on average, about 650 dollars per month will be the basic pay during the training period.
Infrastructure: There are limitations in the infrastructure but it is adequate enough for smooth operation. Labs are fully functional with hands-on experience on various machines. There is a Central AC digital library open for students with access to computers and wifi. In hostels there is wifi facility. The quality of food is above average. It is well-nutritional food but not that fancy food in terms of taste. A canteen is also available on campus, open till 10 p.m. There is a doctor on campus every working day for 3 hours in the morning session. After academic hours, students are allowed to follow their hobby activities.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and experienced and are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Almost all are from the same marine field. Retired chief engineers and captains sharing their own live experiences. The curriculum is very relevant to the field. It helps you clear your future class 4 and class 2 exams with ease. The semester exams are quite strictly held and the questions are of standard difficulty. The pass percentage is 50% in the theory examination. The passing percentage of students is about 60%.
Other: The course offers us to get into the maritime sector, which offers ocean of opportunities and challenges to us and makes us the best of the best. The college can improve the infrastructure a bit and a slight changes in the curriculum can be better. There will be an annual festival every year. Scholarships are entirely self-dependent based on your semester marks, etc.

Review with actual truth and information.
Placements: Around 90% of students from final year got placed. Package differs from company to company but as an engine cadet, the range of package varies from 500-600 dollars per month. Top recruiting companies are Feet Management, Pacific Basis, OSM Home, MMSI, BW Shipping, MSI, and M.Sc Anglo Eastern. For internship, students are asked to look on their own in any workshop but through college, it can be referred as onboard training after a course for 6 months.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi availability is provided but the range varies. Labs are under maintenance. Classrooms are good with smart projectors, boards, and hygiene. But many of the classes do not have air conditioning. Library is good with AC and sitting arrangement. Quality of food in mess is good but the taste is not counted. Canteen is also provided. Sports facility is also good. Water shortage is there which may be addressed soon. Hostels for pre-sea cadets are under renovation as soon as they get ready students will be shifted there because currently, pre-sea cadets are staying in hostel for post-sea courses. Hostel of pre-sea cadets is provided with common washrooms on each floor. Around the campus ships undergo bunkering and de bunkering due to which air quality is not that much good. It is ragging free campus.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is good. Course curriculum is good but practical section should be more focused. Semester exams are same which are taught in class as per the syllabus. If students are prepared they can easily score good marks in exams that's why placement rate is good. Passing percentage is 35%.
Other: Annual events are Prayan - cultural cum technical fest, Udghosh - sports event, and annual magazines - propelling minds and Prakriti and Sea Scape. There are 6 clubs and 4 houses and it is an institute with good alma mater.

Good placements in 2024 and best serving faculties.
Placements: Our batch has 40 cadets. Out of 40, 35 cadets are placed successfully in top shipping companies like Pacific Basin, Synergy, OSM Home, Fleet Management, etc. Every Cadet was given an opportunity to workshop in Mazgaon Dock Limited. Packages offered are excellent.
Infrastructure: Our academic building has well-established classrooms, smart boards, desks, and Wi-fi availability. The labs are well maintained, and the equipment in them is in good working order. There's a huge workshop consisting of various machines used onboard ship. Notice boards are regularly maintained. Our hostel building is well maintained and hygienic. Rooms are regularly cleaned, and two water coolers are provided on every floor. Those water coolers are also well maintained and hygienic. Dustbins are provided outside every room. CCTV cameras are also installed for the security of cadets and their belongings.
Faculty: The faculty here is very helpful, highly qualified, and very knowledgeable and skilled. Mostly the faculty is from a marine background. Chief engineers and captains teach here. They provide a vast ocean of knowledge and experience. Every year, twice-end semester examinations are conducted by Indian Maritime University. The semester exams are quite hard. The pass percentage is 50 percent.
Other: I chose this course because I'm interested in learning machines and equipment onboard. I like troubleshooting and machine maintenance. Events are regularly conducted, and great exposure is provided. Participants are appreciated and encouraged by providing them prizes, certificates, and medals. Various useful scholarships are offered to cadets, and many visits to docks and navy institutes are arranged by the campus.

Very good placements in last 4 years. Almost 100% placement is there.
Placements: For the last 3–4 years, the placement rate has been nearly 100%. Some companies, like MSC, sometimes don't consider your number of backlogs. The salary for a tanker position is around 1,000 USD. Top recruiting companies are MSC, Fleet, PB, and Thome, etc. Internships are easily available near the college itself because it is located at the Madgaon dockyard. Companies offer jobs as trainee marine engineers.
Infrastructure: You get 24/7 Wi-Fi and six-day access to the library. Labs are in good working condition, and faculty help and guide you. A canteen is also available, where you can get a lot of food for a low cost; you can get a full meal for just INR 90. The food in the mess is also very good.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful. They take proper classes and complete the course on time within the allotted timeline. They even try to do revisions for students, according to the exam pattern, so that students can get familiar with the exam. You have to score 50% in theory as well as in practicals to clear the exam.
Other: Marine engineering is a very good and unexplored field where you can get a good-paying job without tax. You will be getting your payment in dollars, which means you will be earning a good amount of money in the future.
