Q:   Is BTech at Jamia Millia Islamia good?

A:

The answer to whether BTech from Jamia Millia Islamia is good or not depends on a lot of factors. All these factors are listed below one after another:

  • Specialisations: BTech at Jamia is available across the five most common specialisations, namely, Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics & Communication and Mechanical Engineering. In a world where more in-depth specialisations, such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are trending the university still sticks to the basic courses. For students looking out for core information on the trending areas of AI and ML, it can't be considered a good option. But in case, a student wishes to stay with the traditional branches, Jamia Millia Islamia can be a good option.
  • Placements: Another factor that comes into consideration while choosing a college for a course is its return on investment value. The same can be calculated basis of the kind of placements offered to the students. As per the data collated from the verified students' reviews on Shikhsa, the majority of students mention that 70-90% of BTech students get placement opportunities from Jamia.  Additionally, the salary packages start from INR 3-4 LPA as the lowest and go up to even INR 25 Lacs per annum for some students.
  • Fee: While the general fee for BTech ranges from INR 2 to 5 Lacs per annum for colleges in India, Jamia Millia Islamia charges INR 16,150 annually for its BTech programme which is extremely low. Hence, concerning the fee, Jamia Millia Islamia is a great option for BTech.

Based on the factors mentioned above and the requirements of candidates, they can decide whether they want to go ahead with Jamia Millia Islamia for BTech or not. Read more about BTech reviews from Jamia Millia Islamia students here.

Q:   Can I get admission to BTech course at Jamia Millia Islamia [JMI] if my rank is between 15000 and 20000?

A:

For last year, the closing rank for BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering was 15851 which is very close to this range. This was for the General category under the All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one cannot afford to score less than this. With this rank, there is a probability of getting admission however, the cut-offs keep changing year on year, it's advisable to try to score better ranks to increase your chances of admission.

Good infrastructure, nice people and faculty members.
Placements: In my course, there were around 50 percent who were placed. The highest package was 18 lakhs per year by Optum. The second highest was 12 lakhs per annum by Accenture. Other companies include Optum, Accenture, RSM USA, Rockwell, L&T, TCS, etc. In my course, Rockwell, there were around five students placed in this, SDE, GET, etc.
Infrastructure: Here in my college, we have auditorium-style classrooms with AC and also smart projectors. Also, we have good seating areas, enough for 75 students. Also, the Wi-Fi is good in the classrooms. Labs are decent, but need to change. The library is best. We have two libraries, and that is good. The food is great and decent as well. Sometimes it is good. For medical, we have M.A. Ansari Hospital. A decent way of medicine is available. For sports, we have the best sports grounds.
Faculty: The teachers are Ph.D. holders, and also a few guest faculty are here. Also, they are Ph.D. holders. They are decently knowledgeable, but yes, some of them are good in communication. Yes, this curriculum is interesting and industry-friendly too. Yes, why not, but we require our extra efforts. It is not that difficult, but okay.
Other: Because of the rank that I got in JEE Main, that is the main reason. Second, it is the best branch after CSE, and maybe in the future, it may be best for all time. In my course, we should have more practical knowledge. Terms like VLSI and chip designing should be introduced. Yes, we have a good sense of events also. The campus crowd is crazy here. The name Jamia attracts people here, and I guess no such seats are left behind.

    Jamia Millia Islamia B.Tech.
Placements: Approximately 70% of students got placed every year. The highest package offered is 44 LPA by Amazon and the lowest is around 3-4 LPA by some mass recruiters. The average package goes around 9-10 LPA. Top recruiters are Adobe, TCS, Zia semiconductor, and many others.
Infrastructure: Jamia is one of the oldest universities in India established in the 19th century, There is every lab a B.Tech students need and that's also in good condition. There are many canteens all departments have their canteen. There is a sports complex in which there are separate grounds for football and a stadium for cricket known as Pataudi stadium.
Faculty: The teachers here are well qualified there are many professors done there Ph.D. from IIT. They are knowledge and helpful. Before the end sem, they provide us the important topics which helps us a lot. End-sem paper marking is tough here.
Other: I choose this university because of branch preference at the time of the JEE Main result. The fest scenario is not up to mark here as less often fest happens.

ROI is great as the fees is very low.
Placements: The percentage of students getting placed in my branch is approximately 60%. The highest package was 21 LPA, and the average package was 9 LPA. Top recruiters were ZS Associates, Zenon Analytics, and Accenture. I don't have an idea about internships, but around 20% got one.
Infrastructure: Free Wi-Fi is available all over the campus. Labs and classrooms are fully air-conditioned. There is a library for the engineering department and also a central library, which has many books. The reading room there is also fully air-conditioned. The food quality of the hostel is quite good. For medical emergencies, we have a healthcare center that is absolutely free. For sports, we have a sports complex, but the timings are not according to the students, as it is closed on weekends.
Faculty: The teachers are well-qualified, some from top IITs and BITS, like IIT Delhi and Roorkee. The curriculum would be better if they taught subjects only related to electronics and not those that don't have any relation to electronics. Semester exams are of moderate level. Also, the curriculum is relevant to the industry.
Other: I chose this course because it is what I got based on my JEE rank. I think the curriculum would be better if they didn't teach us subjects like engineering drawing, workshops, and other irrelevant subjects that have no connection to electronics.

It has good returm on inverstment.
Placements: Percentage of students getting placed in my branch is very good. The highest salary package offered is 21 LPA, and the average salary package is 8 LPA. Top recruiters included Accenture, Zenon Analytics, and Bechtel. No internships are provided by college. If anyone needs an internship, they must apply on their own.
Infrastructure: Labs and classrooms are fully air-conditioned, except for first-year students. There is a library dedicated to engineering students. As Jamia is a university, students can access the central library, which has many books. Library is fully air-conditioned. Food quality in the hostel is good for the price. For medical emergencies, we have a healthcare center that is free for students. There is a sports complex with fields and courts for various sports, but students need to bring their equipment if they are not part of a team.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified, with some from IITs, NITs, and foreign universities. Our dean is also the dean of NIT Trichy. Curriculum is outdated and includes subjects that are not beneficial for growing technology. Students need to study on their own, but professors are very helpful if you are doing something productive. Exams are of moderate level.
Other: As our college is part of a university, if students are good in extracurricular activities like drama, photography, or filmmaking, they can collaborate with other students in those respective fields. I chose this college because it was what I got based on my JEE rank and financial conditions.

Complete your BTech in just 64 thousands
Placements: The placement is quite decent. The return of investment is high as the fee is one of the lowest in India. As per my analysis the placement rate is around 75%. The highest CTC offered was around 54 LPA last year of CSE branch. Average package is around 8 LPA. Qualcomm, Nvidia, Siemens are the major recruiters in ECE. Many mass recruiters companies also take civil and mechanical students.
Infrastructure: In first year you don't get AC classrooms. But in second year CSE and ECE students get AC classrooms. Lab are also quite decent with many equipment. Hostels are also quite decent such as the new APJ Kalam hostel which is 8 floor hostel with world class facilities.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified. One of our teacher is among top 3% scientist in the world. The curriculum according to me in not up to date. I think it needs some sort of upgrades. Semester exams can be passed easily if you pay some attention during the classes.
Other: I chose this course as the return of investment is high. In just 64k you can complete your Btech. Hostel fee is around 15k for the whole year with mess fee 2600/month. You get to meet students from different parts of India and even some foreign nationals. Sports facilities is also world class with almost every sports.

Q:   Is Jamia Millia Islamia good for M.Com?

    A:
    {Source: M.Com students & alumni}

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) - Is it Good for M.Com?

Based on reviews from current students and alumni, here's what they say:

    * Placement Record: While the college claims to have a good placement record, the reality seems to be different. According to students, only about 20% of students get placed, with the highest package offered being INR5.5 LPA.
    * Recruiters: Companies like Samsung, Kotak Mahindra, DMI Housing Finance, and Acxiom visit the campus for placements, but the number of recruiters is relatively small.
    * Course Curriculum: The M.Com course is well-structured and covers finance, accounting, and purchasing, making students industry-ready.
    * Teaching Quality: Some students feel that the teaching quality could improve, while others appreciate the support and guidance received from faculty members.
    * Infrastructure: The college has a beautiful campus with modern infrastructure, including a large library, laboratories, and a sports complex.
    * Scholarships: JMI offers scholarships to deserving students, including the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

In conclusion, while Jamia Millia Islamia has its strengths, particularly in terms of infrastructure and course structure, the placement record for M.Com appears to be inconsistent. Prospective students should weigh these factors carefully before deciding whether JMI is the right fit for them.

    A:
    {Source: BBA students & alumni}

Based on the information provided, I would say that studying BBA at Jamia Millia Islamia can be a good choice. Here's why:

    * Good reputation: Jamia Millia Islamia is a reputed institution, ranked within the top 15 universities according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking.
    * Well-qualified faculty: The faculty members are well-qualified, experienced, and knowledgeable, providing good teaching quality.
    * Relevant curriculum: The course curriculum is relevant, covering all aspects of business administration, making students industry-ready.
    * Placements: Despite initial concerns about placements, the majority of students (around 90%) get placed in well-known companies, including top recruiters like TCS, Wipro, KPMG, ICICI, and Mahindra. The average salary package offered is around 4-5 LPA, with some students receiving even higher packages.
    * Infrastructure: The campus infrastructure is good, with modern facilities like air-conditioned lecture theaters, state-of-the-art libraries, and well-maintained hostels.
    * Campus life: The campus offers a range of extracurricular activities, sports facilities, and cultural events, creating a vibrant campus life.

However, there are some areas for improvement, such as the limited research opportunities and the need for students to take initiative to find jobs.

Overall, while Jamia Millia Islamia may not offer the perfect education, it seems to be a good option for those interested in pursuing a career in business administration.

Jamia Millia Islamia campus is very big in compraison to DTU. DTU campus size is only 160 acres while JMI campus size is 1000+ acres. It is bigger because it is a university and everything is taught here while DTU is only for engineering.
