Solid academics with dedicated faculty, and gives us better placement opportunities.
Placements: As you know, I'm a student at the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela. In my college, there are many talented students who are very good at studies and are very friendly with each other. In my college, most students get placed in campus placements, and the percentage of students who get placed is about 90 to 95 percent. The remaining students start their own businesses or stop studying. Software companies offer more placements, and CSE and ECE students get placed more in my college.
Infrastructure: As I'm a student of the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, in my hostels, there is a good supply of Wi-Fi, and the canteens are always open. The mess food is very good, and medical facilities are available every single time. If we get an injury or fall sick, they will check and give us free medicine. If we are more serious, they shift us to the nearby hospital for our well-being and take care of us every time. In my college, the infrastructure and facilities are very good. My college is very good at infrastructure, labs, classrooms, etc. Yes, in my college, our faculty members are very helpful.
Faculty: Yes, in my college, our faculty members are very talented and very helpful to us. Our teachers are very helpful and are highly knowledgeable. Their teaching skills are excellent, and they work day and night for us. If we have any doubts, they will clarify them for us, and they are very helpful. And yes, they make students industry-ready. In my college, the semester exams are very tough, and through this, they assess our talent and performance in academics. Most students pass the exams, and the passing percentage is 40 percent, maybe.

Why should you join NITR?
Placements: Around 80% of students were placed, with the highest package of 1.2cr from the ECE branch. For the mechanical branch, the highest package offered was 31 LPA, the average was 12 LPA, and the lowest was 5.5 LPA. The college average was 13.43 LPA, and the lowest package was 3.3 LPA. For a detailed analysis, one can visit the NIT Rourkela website.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in most of the hostels; still, some have LAN ports, and you can use those to create your own Wi-Fi. Labs are well maintained, and all required equipment and materials are available. The library not only has hard-copy books but also has access to more than 2000 online research papers and books.
Faculty: You have to pace a little according to the professor. Students become industry-ready as there are a lot of clubs associated with particular branches, like ASME, ASCE, AIChE, etc. Semester exams are a little bit difficult. All professors are highly qualified and knowledgeable.
Other: In NITR, various fests are organized, and out of these, 4 major fests are held: INNOVISION - THE TECH FEST, COSMOPOLITAN - THE MULTI-ETHNIC FEST, VRIDHHI - THE SPORTS FEST, and ROOTS.

Most memories in college are awesome.
Placements: In our course, almost 80 percent of the students get placed every year. The highest package offered goes up to 75 lacs, and the lowest is 6-7 LPA, with an average package of around 18 LPA. Many popular companies visit for hiring. A huge number of students also get internship offers. Top roles include CAD development and CNC machine operator.
Infrastructure: Many facilities are provided in the course, along with the research facilities. Labs and classrooms are well-maintained. There is a huge library on the campus. Hostel rooms are small considering the triple sharing concept. Food quality is good but gets monotonous after a while. All kinds of sports and gyms are available on campus. The quality of food in the hostel is good.
Faculty: Teachers here are very qualified in their respective fields. They are very helpful in answering doubts. Their teaching quality is great as well. Many teachers are Ph.D. holders and are very experienced. Exams are conducted very strictly, and you can get good marks if you study from the first day. Forty percent is the pass percentage. We have two internals and one end-of-semester exam. Exams are hard to pass, but they teach us in an understanding way, so we pass. Last year, 64% passed.

NIT Rourkela - A platform to touch your dreams.
Placements: Every year, 100 percent of students are placed in different sectors, the highest package being 52 LPA from Microsoft and the lowest being 6 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Bajaj Auto, ITC, HPCL, BPCL, HUL, Maruti Suzuki, TVS, ICICI Bank, etc. Most of the roles are GET (Graduate Trainee Engineer) for the first year in the company.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the mechanical department is the best on campus. Wi-Fi is available in every department and academic building. There are two separate buildings called Lecture Avenues in which classes are held, and they also consist of computer labs. Coming to the hostels, there are 8 boys' hostels and 3 girls' hostels. Mess food can be a complaint in some hostels on certain days. There is also a pure veg mess.
Faculty: Some teachers can be strict and stingy with marks and grades, but all are highly knowledgeable, having the best teaching experience in the country. The course subjects are set in such a way that even weak students can keep up, as all the topics are taught from scratch.
Other: The decision to choose this course was based on my interest in mechanical engineering. This college has got me a company too. Fests are the heart of the college. There are 3 fests, and 1 celebrity night happens in the college.

NIT Rourkela: A lot more to explore.
Placements: According to the placements of 2023, the highest package offered in our is 83 lakhs per annum, and the average package is 15 lakhs per annum. The placement statistics of my branch are good, with students securing jobs in many sectors like manufacturing, automotive, IT, and consulting. The top recruiters were Tata Steel, Mahindra, L&T, etc.
Infrastructure: Our classrooms are well maintained. There are air conditioners in each and every class. The digital board and the projectors are something exciting to learn. The library consists of more than ninety thousand books and provides a fruitful environment to study. The mess food quality is moderate, but the hygiene is taken care of by the authority. There is a health centre where they provide medicines for free. Sports and games facilities are numerous, ranging from indoor games to outdoor games.
Faculty: The faculties are knowledgeable and well qualified. Most of the professors have pursued their PhD degrees from IITs. The faculties are ready to clear our doubts. They also help to solve those problems that do not involve academics. The difficulty of exams depends on students. If the concepts of the student are clear, then no one can stop him or her from getting a good CGPA. If you secure a 7.5 CGPA or above, then it is considered good.
Other: I was not able to perform well in the joint entrance examination. But due to having a category, I got this course, and my rank permitted this branch. If you are pursuing mechanical engineering at NIT Rourkela, then it is a good choice to have good placement projects. In mechanical engineering, the course demands theoretical knowledge as well as practical applications. There are various scholarships available. If your income is below 1 lakh, then the tuition fees are completely free. You need to pay one-third of the tuition fee if your income lies between 1 lakh and 5 lakhs.
