VIT: The Good, The Bad, The Memorable.
Placements: The placements in our college are really good, even though there are a little number of recruitment limits from every company. Placements are easier and better here, as this year there were about 300 companies which came to recruit us. If there were no placements, my plan was to do a Master’s abroad, probably in Singapore or Switzerland. The highest package last year was for 1.1 crore, and the average package was around 9.9 LPA. You need a minimum 6 CGPA to get placed, but I would recommend at least an 8 CGPA to be on the safe side for better companies.
Infrastructure: The campus life here is amazing, and the infrastructure is really good. Yes, there are a few old buildings, and they are getting renovated. The rooms provided are okay. It depends on the hostel, as newer built blocks have better rooms. If you choose 4 B.Ed and get the newer block (which is only for freshers), it’s nice and clean, but for the older blocks, even for 4 B.Ed, you get bunk beds and it feels so outdated.
Faculty: The curriculum completely depends on your choice and liking, as there is a system called FFCS in which you can select your own faculty and timetable. But the catch is, by the end of 4 years, you must complete at least a credit amount of 162, depending on which course you took. So, an average of 22 credits per semester, and depending on the subject, it will be approximately 2-3 credits, so you have to make a timetable worth 22 credits.
Other: There are numerous clubs to join, and a lot of festivities you can join and participate in, but most of them are really underwhelming to me. Personal opinion, I guess. The extracurricular activities are really good. I was disappointed with the football ground, as a football fanatic. I at least expected a turf ground, but it was just plain grass. The nightlife in VIT is really chill. It has become better over the years, though the curfew timings did not change at all. It’s pretty early, but it doesn’t make a lot of difference.

All You Need to Know About VIT
Placements: There are 75 students in each class, around 3000-4000 students in each batch, where 2000-3000 get placed every year. If you have skills, you can get a placement. The competition is tough, with low chances of getting an internship. Most of the top recruiting companies come here every year, including MANG and other top companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, and the campus is well-maintained. The library is up to date, and you can find most of the useful books, daily magazines, comics, mangas, etc. Medical facilities are also available in each hostel. The mess food is average, but you can find all types of mess options like veg, non-veg, Jain, and food items from all over India. The Wi-Fi speed is very bad.
Faculty: The curriculum is well-centralized on my selected specialization. The end-semester exams are not that difficult; you can easily pass them by studying two weeks before the exams. But getting an S grade is really tough. They also teach practically to make students ready for real-life problems, and there are lab classes and exams too.
Other: The campus is very crowded. You need to take permission from your proctor before going out of college. I chose this college and course because I didn’t have many options, and this was the best I had. They have weekly events you can easily enjoy, and there are many clubs so you can enjoy and get along with other students.

Review of Vellore Institute of Technology.
Placements: Placement percentage is nearly 95%. The highest package is 1.02 crores. The lowest package is not defined by college communities. The top recruiting companies are De Shaw, JP Morgan, Nokia, TCS and many more. There are some specific for internships, so almost everyone has to do an internship.
Infrastructure: Our college and hostels are far better in terms of infrastructure. Cleanliness is well maintained. Qualities of roads inside the campus are quite good. Sports facilities like badminton court, basketball court, swimming pool, football ground are in good condition. Speed of Wi-Fi is a bit less in hostels while we can only access the college website inside labs. Mess food is not good. Medical facilities are average.
Faculty: Regarding faculty members, some of the faculty members are very excellent. They help genuinely to students, while we have to suffer and struggle a lot in some subjects. Curriculum is well designed. If one studies following in a perfect order he/she can be industry ready. Level of difficulty in exams is not that much high, but the problem is this college takes exams in every 1-1.5 months.

Why take VIT Vellore – My experience.
Placements: SEE placement here is like, if you deserve, you get. Companies coming here for recruitment are looking for skills, but remember to maintain a decent CGPA. Top recruits are TCS, and Wipro Technologies, and the college has a good alumni network, so it helps in getting internships for college students. The faculty is top-class.
Infrastructure: All labs are updated, which were not till my 2nd year, but now they are updated. In the hostel, all facilities like a gym, football, cricket, etc., are available, and internet service is provided to all hostel areas. Food in the mess is mainly South Indian; it's edible but can’t be eaten every day. There are also shops inside the hostel area.
Faculty: Yes, teachers are well-qualified and experienced, but the only problem comes for students like me, who are from North India, as there is a bit of a problem in understanding the accent. Rest assured, all labs and trainers are good and cooperative. You will get to experience new and exciting things, and there is much more for people eager to learn.
Other: The reason for choosing this course is to get experience.

Great campus and infrastructure, good facilities and placements.
Placements: The placement percentage at my college has been consistently around 90% for the last few years. The highest salary offered this year was 1 crore by Motorq, and the lowest was 3.6 lpa. Some of the big names that recruited were Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Nvidia, and Oracle. The college provides internships with top companies like Microsoft, J.P. Morgan, and Oracle, but only a very small percentage of students get them. Roles offered are data analyst, backend developer, frontend developer, and DevOps.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in the hostel blocks and the library. It is also available in the lab classes. The theory classes take place in the classrooms, and the lab classes take place in the designed lab rooms with air conditioning and equipment pertaining to the course. There are computers on every desk. The mess food is comparatively better than other universities. Hostel facilities are more than satisfactory, but it depends on which block you get during hostel counseling. There is a hospital inside the campus and two pharmacies near the hostel blocks. There are two football fields, a few futsal fields, a free gym, two to three paid gyms, an indoor sports center for table tennis, karate, and a swimming pool. Cost-free facilities include one free gym, a few table tennis courts, two tennis courts, three to four basketball courts, a few volleyball courts, and some hostels have a badminton court inside.
Faculty: The teachers are qualified, and most are approachable. The quality of teaching depends on the student and whether they like the teaching style. The curriculum is updated often and reflects changes in the IIT syllabuses. Industry needs could be considered a little more. The semester exams are moderately difficult, and the pass percentage depends on the class average. There are two internal exams for 15 marks each, and the final has a weight of 40. The rest of the marks come from assignments and quizzes.
Other: I chose this course because I've always had an interest in computer science. It's easier than other B.Tech. engineering courses if you understand the basics, and it has a high return when it comes to getting a high-paying job. One area that could be improved is considering industry changes a little more. The university offers soft skills courses that try to address this, but they could be a little better. There are events happening all the time at the university, but the two big fests are the cultural fest Riviera and the technical fest Gravitas. The campus crowd is very diverse, with people from every state in the country and even some from foreign countries. The campus is very large and green, and the surrounding area is safe.
